This hole in the wall grocery makes sandwiches that outshine basically all of the on-campus dining options at Georgetown. Perfect for a bite between classes. Get the chicken madness -- a delicious melange of chopped grilled chicken, provolone, bacon, mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato -- it's a perfect refueling after a night of studying or a night of drinking at the tombs right next door.

Can't really comment on the grocery, mostly just basic items, as well as wine and beer for all the college parties I guess. If you need to stock up on natural lite, this is your place. They just got a soft serve machine too.

      Will come again

Inconsistent; if you're planning on drinking only order beer or wine. I've had the same bartender make the same drink 3 or 4 different ways. The service is friendly -- their one saving grace from one-stardom, but even when I tip heavily, and before the drink is made it never comes out right. I know it's a college bar, but these are basic drinks.

This used to be fine when they had ridiculously low happy hour prices-- e.g. $3 long islands (I'll gamble on quality for that price). But starting this year it looks like they're under new management, and have replaced their attractive happy hour specials with a nothing special $3 natty bo and coors. All other wines, beers and liquors are full price. Sorry, I can get that at 20 different places in D.C., with an establishment that makes decent drinks too.

Food is just as inconsistent; my calamari has come out unseasoned more than once. And the pizza was lackluster. Stick with safe choices like fries. Or even better, do yourself a favor and insist on epicurean or the tombs when your friends want to go to Bulldog Tavern.

Other than that looks like a decent, brand new college bar. Probably will get suckered into going there again.

The one and only true Georgetown college bar, The Tombs brings it on everything.

Drinks: great selection, with bartenders who know what they're doing. Everything I've ordered they make it right. Also have great happy hour specials -- plus great deals on beer all day, as low as $2.59 per glass. Great rotating selection of Hoya themed cocktails as well.

Food: surprisingly good, especially adjusting for the "college bar" aspect. I have been off put by the low food quality of the other bars that claim to be a "Georgetown bar," namely Bulldog Tavern and Epicurean. Only ordered the burger and steak so far. Are they the best you'll ever have? No, but consistently good!

Service: always friendly and prompt, and consistent. Never had a problem.

Definitely recommended if you want to experience a day in the life of a Georgetown student. Ditch the glitzy Bulldog Tavern and head over to the tombs!

Rare place in DC that serves a decent breakfast all day and also has a full bar.

Definitely my go-to place when I'm on a "breakfast for lunch" kick.

You'd be skeptical given the trendy, contemporary interior, but the Crimson belies it's "DC hip" appearance. Make no mistake, this place serves all-American diner fare, and does it quite well. The country breakfast is killer; grits done perfectly, and amazing house made sausage patties. Some of the best pancakes around as well. I usually can't help but get a short stack with whatever else I order.

Service is hit or miss, sometimes even with the same servers. Thus the 4-stars at this point. Will definitely come back though.

Trendy deli in downtown D.C. If you think the words hip and deli go together, this is your place.

The lox sandwich here was pretty good, though the bagel was slightly tough. My biggest complaint is the tiny amount of lox they give you. There was barely a single slice of lox on the sandwich. A bit steep for $8.99. Most other bagel shops/delis in the area-- like Bethesda Bagels in DuPont -- will give you 2-3 times as much lox for a comparable price. I guess that contributes to the "hip" element of the place.

The side -- Israeli salad -- was less than stellar, though the babka and egg cream were definite redeeming qualities; reminded me of a real NYC deli. May come back for those alone.

Would try again for the pastrami sandwiches, which looked pretty good coming out.

Barely one slice of lox, sure can they spare it?
