Industrial Eats is delicious. It's not often that you run into a place that doesn't care about your comfort. Hot as hell, yes. The giant oven makes it so. Table service, no. Order and get out of the way and good luck finding a seat, there's a line. Glass of wine, sure. Off the tap and served in a jelly glass. Move along.

The mad scientists behind the scenes are more than willing to accommodate your silly requests. Can I get some hot sauce for my fish sandwich? Yes, I made it today. It's tomato based with habanero and whatever else I could find in the kitchen and I hope you like it. Yes, it was delicious.

There is no place I'd rather eat in the area. Fancy steakhouse, no. Pea soup, no. Danish delight, absolutely not. Go to Industrial Eats. Get something that was made from scratch. Where else can you get a beef tongue Rueben sandwich? That's what I thought.

Where's the beef? It's at Wendy's. Where's the chicken? It's here at Holdaak. Got to enjoy some outdoor dining before it shut down again thanks to Corona. I'm writing this a little late and hope they're Holding up. See what I did there. I'm sure they are. Their spicy chicken sandwich was worth every penny.

It was deceiving. Wasn't getting the spice until I hit one of the jalapeño sprigs. Nice heat. Great crunch on the chicken. Great bun. Great sauce. Pickled onions are so easy to make and add texture. Thank you Holdaak. Shake fries were also wonderful. Gave us an extra spice packet to make sure every fry was well coated and I got an arm workout. Burnt some Covid calories.

Everyone inside was friendly and extremely helpful. Can't wait to dine in again. If you sit on the street patio, it's great people watching. I miss people. Holdaak is amazing and worth your money. Glad I get to type the restaurant name instead pronouncing it.

This is an appetizer review. And the Mule's apps are delicious. We stopped for beers and some bites after a round of golf like life used to be. It was so nice to sit in a restaurant again. Covid hasn't got me but it killed my Yelp game. Snapping pics of styrofoam take out just isn't the same. Snapping pics of delicious appetizers while drinking a cold pint is much more my style.

We each got an app and I will rate them in the order of deliciousness.
1- The spicy calamari. A huge plate of big sticks of calamari smothered in a sweet & spicy glaze. Chopped jalapeños on top for heat and crunch. I would order it every time.
2- The ballpark nachos. Again, another huge plate of crispy chips doused in cheese, chili, jalapeños, pico, sour cream, and guacamole. I would have to order those every time too.
3- Chipotle BBQ wings. Another big plate of large, smoky wings. Ask for extra napkins. My beard was drenched in sauce and blue cheese. Pretty good but I would like to explore the sauce menu to truly know the clear sauce winner.
4- Potato skins. Another healthy portion of small, crispy skins loaded with bacon, cheese, and onions. Very tasty but they couldn't compete with the other app champs.

House IPA was pretty good and on special. Pale ale was not a hit, but they switched it out no problem. Servers were great and put up with us. It was like old times!

Fried chicken. The best of all the fried proteins. Fried fish tacos are good, but fried chicken is amazing. Fried beef? No. Fried pork? Eh, katsu is pretty good. But those little birdies are the best. And one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've ever had is at Furai. The fire Furai. If you say it fast it sounds like you said firefly. Fire Furai. What? Never mind.

Giant piece of fried chicken breast. I'm serious. Giant. Look at my picture. Smothered in a spicy glaze, topped with sweet dill pickles and an Asian slaw. It took me a while to take it down. I also needed a bucket of napkins. My beard definitely left that place smothered in the spicy glaze. Fries on the side were tasty and all for $11! Great deal!

The beer situation needs a little work. Every beer is $8 on draft from shock top to space dust. I got a 22 oz Hite for $9, so I felt like I was getting a deal. If they had a happy hour with some good beer prices and a deal on their wings, I'd go weekly. For now, I'll just go when I get a hankering for some fried chicken.

Staff was super friendly and the place has a good vibe. Hopefully, it becomes a happening staple in La Crescenta.

Ok. Let's hit the road. Passing through Santa Maria on our way home from Paso, and what happens? The car won't start. It will turn over, but it won't fire up. Called AAA. Checked the battery. Added some gas, because we were low. Nothing. They suggested we tow it to Pat's. I called, and he said to bring it in.

Alex helped us right away and told us he would get somebody on it, so we could be on our way. We had a view from the rather clean office, and it wasn't looking good. Tech kept working, and he was able to find the problem. Had to get a part from Ford. They sent a guy over to pick it up, so they could get it fixed quickly. And they did at a cost that seemed very reasonable.

We were off. Not the way we intended, but it could have been way worse. These guys were quick and efficient. You can tell they take pride in their business and value their customers.

Thanks for saving the day, Pat's!
