Excellent service from annelise. Like others, I found her on yelp after my wife had a bad experience using 1-800 flowers or some such national chain.

By the way, those businesses usually subcontract their work to a semi-local flower shop, I think in my wife's case it was 20-30 miles from Fairfield, and thus insert a middle man into your order with predictable results.

Annelise is a real person; really in Fairfield, and paying the extra money is completely worth it. Quality bouquet, responsive after using website, easy to work with...it's a human experience, not some corporatocratic nightmare.

This is a Safeway, not a Wholefoods, so reviews should look at it from that perspective. That being said, as a grocery store, it is convenient, has what you need, at good prices, and is rarely crowded.

What I really want to praise is the pharmacy and the pharmacy supervisor. While I have had my friction at any pharmacy, even this one...due to our bureaucratic health system usually... the pharmacy supervisor, a younger Asian woman, went far above and beyond to help my family out with a difficult prescription.

Great service, gorgeous location, easy to load and unload with ground level garage doors. Live in staff cares about you. Expensive but nothing more than the prices in the area. This storage unit allowed me to store dry food goods which I needed while others did not.

Given the price (2K and up) two stars on Yelp means "Could've been better" and that sums up Akelius and Ballston Place.

Pros: Reinforced concrete (RC) high rise. That means the main structure hidden behind the sheet-rock consists of RC columns and RC slabs. The RC slab floors are a major pro because this is the first place I have lived where I do not hear my neighbors walk and the noise is very low for an apartment. The partition walls, especially the ones facing the main hallway are your usual cheap gypsum board, so you will hear everything from the hallways...but as long as nobody above and below uses subwoofers, these apartments are comparatively quiet.

Great location. Arlington is by far the best place I have lived if you can afford it. Many parks nearby; shopping, metro line; all within real walking distance.

Cons: Front desk staff is hit and miss. Sometimes they can be condescending and rude, or completely lack basic knowledge. I have had situations where they could not answer simple questions; like how can I get to the pool? Sometimes they do their jobs well... but it depends.

Maintenance is again, hit and miss. Or more like miss the first time, then you, the tenant have to stay on top of them to do things right. Nice people, I have met one in particular with an attitude, but no attention to detail.

They might come and fix something on a toilet, but do not notice that something else is clearly broken...then you as the tenant have to figure it out, follow up, etc... Some things just never get fixed, or get jerry rigged.

As an example, they refused to clean the window tracks in my unit which are clogged with dirt and gave me a can of WD-40 to lubricate it... I have lived in places where the maintenance staff takes pride in their work and will spend hours going through all the problems. Here, they tell you to put in another work order...

Smells are a problem here. They need to screen tenants better and write contracts so they can check what the heck is going on inside units. Marijuana and cigarette smells have been constant problems. It can be absolutely disgusting as tenants hot box inside bathrooms; smoke weed out their windows; smoke in the units...it reeks. Of course, the hallways were designed with no windows.

Overall, you can tell it's a place where the staff don't really go all the way. They'll walk past the same broken elevator button for days...weeks; they can smell the weed too...but whatever, right; the stupid sign in the elevator says only "two people" at a time when practically all places allow four...they probably just pulled that number out of their a** without thinking and don't change it even though it causes traffic jams.

Finally, the parking lot is a pain. Tiny spots, aggressive drivers who go fast, NO security whatsoever, and many vehicles with no decals. Nobody checks this stuff.

For rent this high the expectations are a lot higher. Akelius does not meet the mark. Look elsewhere if you can; whether renting a private condo; another rental building; or honestly, buying...it's a massive chunk of change per month and they're not meeting the mark for it.

I don't know what the guy below is talking about, but it lacks detail and is...useless. There is copious parking in this shopping area as long as you do not want to park right next to the store. As for culture... if you are Vietnamese or live with Vietnamese people... supermarkets that are dirty compared to regular supermarkets and a grimy shopping center is not culture.

Anyway, let's cut the BS. You're here because you are either Asian, or need something from an Asian supermarket and need to either chose this place or Cho Eden. After trying both, do not patronize the more "Chinese" oriented Eden Supermarket (big yellow building at the end of the shopping plaza).

      Why?

90% of the employees are Hispanic, have no stake in the business, and treat customers poorly. They have no idea what they are selling, and when a Vietnamese person asks them where something is, they barely speak English nor make any effort, nor do they have a way to communicate with someone who knows. This is your unfortunately typical zero customer service Chinese business.

Not only that, but the last straw came when one of the staff, young girl, was so lazy that she did not want to pack the bags. Of course, practically zero English or Vietnamese, and crushing groceries on top of each other instead of slowing down and packing. Obstinate, lazy, acted like she did not want to be there.

Like most Asian supermarkets, it is grimy, though not horribly, it sells cheap vegetables, and cheap meat...though you have no idea where it comes from as it is not labeled, and all the random stuff that you need to cook oriental foods at low prices.

At least at Cho Eden the staff is Vietnamese, answers questions, packs bags, makes a joke, and attempts to help you out. Still grimy, still cheap, but they don't treat the Asian shoppers as a commodity that will rinse and repeat no matter what.
