we called and he was able to come out the next day, since he had a cancellation. Requested repositioning of my kitchen sink drain. It was preventing my new dishwasher from seating under the countertop and needed to be moved. Terry and his partner discovered the junction boxes also needed moving since they also interfered. One of them was installed by the guy who delivered the dishwasher, arghh. The work was all high quality and there were no problems. He was able to give me a ballpark for price after he started that was reasonable. There was a sink basket strainer that he felt needed replacement since the seals were not up to snuff. All good. I recommend him highly.

My water heater and toilet we leaking so I decided to call Terry Massey Plumbing. I was able to schedule an appointment within a week and they even called a few days before my appointment to see if I wanted to get him over sooner.
They showed up on time, offered to wear masks and were friendly and helpful.
Turns out my water heater just needed a new piece of pipe and was fixed easily and quickly. I also had him service my toilet, which they seemed to do a good job of. They were in an out in about an hour and charged me a fair price for the work. I felt they were honest, as I thought my hot water heater needed a new expansion tank, but he told me it just needed a simple fix.
He also asked if I needed anything else fixed before he left, which I thought was nice. I felt good that he was ready to help with whatever issue I may have. I'll definitely be calling back next time I need plumbing service.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lb S.Gladstone, OR02Dec 2, 2023

Terry has a hard time with the truth.
Attached is the actual message sent to Terry Massey Plumbing requesting a quote for three faucets via Yelp.
Just like his business' claim that he "follows all guidelines" during COVID-19, like him NOT wearing a mask both times he showed up to come into my home.
If Terry cannot read the Yelp request, is not "following guidelines" during a pandemic, and cannot repair a basic tub or sink leak he should be the last # you call for help.

Customer had called our office and asked for cost of repairs for kitchen faucet drip and tub/shower dripping I had quoted her $ 200.00 each for service. She was wanting Terry to come bid and she would reschedule. I informed customer that a bid is $ 150.00, We consider bidding minor service work is miss spending customers money for minor service repairs. I had discussed this with customer.
We are hired to service plumbing not for price shoppers looking for the lowest price, we are not the lowest price, We try to be the fairest for both sides.
We have a history of taken in account personal needs of situations the customers need.
We are talking about a 1970 model manufactured home excising workmanship original or slightly updated maybe 90's
Our goal is to meet our customers expectation or exceed for all customers.
Customer was quoted $ 400.00 to bid work, Customer thought quote was in their price range, thought to be a fair price, customer had 2 projects and thought they would have Terry check out another one while there servicing their 2 projects.
So leaky hose bib was the third, Drippy kitchen faucet, dipping tub/shower. customer was concerned about cost, Terry had compassion for customer, he would do the repairs for $ 300.00 which should of been $ 600.00
1: Hose bib was inside manufacture home in an access hole that was hard for customer to access to turn off and on. We relocated it to outside of manufacture home and secured it to the structure for easy access Customer was thrilled at that.
2: Kitchen faucet, original to 1970 home, replaced cups, washers and springs and corrected reverse handle direction on handles which was and existing problem.
3: Tub/shower replace cups, washers and springs, handle Hot and cold where reversed, repaired that. (I think this confused customer maybe didn't understand how hot & cold operation on this type of fixture.)
When customer called back later complaining of water temperature too hot in tub/shower & kitchen faucet. I tried to explain how to adjust, customer insisted to have us return. I tried to schedule in the next two days, but Customer was leaving on vacation and would not be available. I told customer we would have to work customer in on our schedule by a cancelation on schedule or Terry finishing a job early and I would short notice call customer.
We did go back at our expense replaced tub/shower cartridge a $ 75.00 valve, Customer asked could we glue on hot & cold buttons on the handles for kitchen faucet, which I used silicone sealer on them.
We thought everything was fine until we saw customers Yelp review.
I resent customer said I'm a shoddy plumber. I have 30 yrs experience, I am careful to not judge peoples character or living situation in hopes they treat me the same.
No good deed goes unpunished.

I am sorry if any one has to get to the bottom of this review to read a reply to this customer. Which we had tried to do work she requested, but you can not please everyone and people need to move on. I am happy someone was able to help her. As to mandates it is a mandate not a law, and Terry works with how comfortable each customer is when they are concerned about covid 19, he is wearing a mask, he carries a mask with him when coming to customers doors. Some customers let me know how they feel before they have service and I note it on his schedule. People are all over the map with this pandemic and this customer who seems to not be able to move on and wants to smear Terry did not wear a mask either while he was in her home, so I don't know what she is trying to accomplish here in reposting and continuing to post here and keep this conversation going. Move on!
Jamie MasseySep 13, 2020Previous reviewPaid $300 for 2 leaky faucets and a wonky outdoor hose connection. Terry Massey found "extras" to repair. His phantom fixes caused functionality issues, (shower lever on so tight they don't turn separately & loose faucet caps in the kitchen - he didn't add a sealant after popping them off). Terry then griped about coming back to fix his errors (took over a week to get him to come back out). Once again he's not wearing the mask required by the state, and says dismissively, "I couldn't remember if you were a masker or not", seriously man, it's a state wide mandate. You want to come in my home, where I have to be close enough to point out the issues and you don't bother to comply with basic business guidelines? He takes care of customers like he deals with plumbing, quick and careless.
After he re"fixed" the items that he made worse, the next day my kitchen sink's hot water knob fell apart in my hand, apparently it had cracked completely in two spots, split all the way through; because he tightened the screws too much. The bathroom levers (one for temp the other for water flow) -one of his "extra fixes" as he got confused and thought the hot & cold in the tub were reversed (they were not), and he stated after he was finished up, "you always shower at the same temperature don't you" (nope dude thus the 2 different levers) a real plumber should know this. He had made the levers so tight they couldn't move separately without using both hands to pry them apart.
Called the following day after using the shower, the woman who takes calls is nice, she said she would pass along the message. A few days later I call getting after no reply, and I am told that she spoke with Terry, he felt it wasn't necessary to come back out but I insisted this was a functionality issue it should work as before minus the faucet drip. I said he needs to address what he broke. Four days later I get a call saying he's showing up in 15 minutes ~good thing I was close to home. After he and his younger associate came (no masks again) to re-repair it, the temperature only stayed true at mid flow, at high flow the temp would change & on low as well. The hot would come out cold, the cold came out warm, and the levers spun 180 degrees like hands on a clock. Not a real fix at all, a joke but not a solution
Turns out the tub leak wasn't fixed all, he just prevented it from exiting via the faucet, making it leak into the wall instead. He "didn't connect the nut that holds the cartridge into the valve body properly" -diagnosis from real plumber -thus the pinwheel motion of my levers & inconsistent temp & pressure depending on it's position. I feared what else he might break during a 3rd visit to try and fix his mistakes, so I tried another well reviewed biz on Yelp. I could have saved allot of $ if I had gone with a quality reliable plumber in the first place instead of troublesome Terry.
I ended up paying $950 to a quality plumber (Tualatin Valley Plumbing) re-fix and replace what Terry broke twice
This business is clearly not "following regulation as best we can" as stated on the top of their Yelp page, as no mask were worn by Terry or his male assistant before they were right in front of me. I've had three home repair companies out repair for roofing and electrical work and plumbing, Terry Massey was the only business that did not mask up before showing up at your door or entering your home
PROS:
Cheap, fast response & was able to start the work that day. Dog friendly too
CONS:
You will have to pay a skilled plumber to repair Terry's shoddy work
He finds "extra" things to "fix" that then require unfixing
I contacted Terry and several other plumbers on Yelp, after my tub and kitchen sink started dripping. There was also an outdoor hose issue which he did resolve, 1 out of 3 repairs he did work properly. Get multiple quotes, don't let the first to show up the work out of convenience. BTW his quote only came after he started trying to turn off the water to my home, and I interrupted to ask if that was part of the diagnostic process. He looked surprised, like a kid with his hand in the cookie jar, "oh you didn't want me to start the work now" he asked? I explained that I needed to know the price before I could proceed. Buyer beware - Marin W.Portland, OR02Jun 23, 2023

How can I express what a great team this company has? If I could give them 10 stars I would. Old house, delicate plumbing, and Mr. Massey and his team worked all day to rid tree roots and broken pipe to fix toilet that was a problem for a very long time. Replace old toilet with new. Very fair price and he worked with Mr Simpson from PDX Sewer and Drain to get job done in one day.
Thank you so much! Use these guys. You will not be sorry!Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Megan M.OR, OR01Aug 10, 2022
I had a leak in my water line near my water meter. They were able to come out same day to fix! I was working and they were able to communicate with me via text and were super efficient. They were very kind, patient and helpful! I will definitely be calling them in the future for any other plumbing needs!

Initially I loved this plumber, he did a great job on my kitchen faucet. It was expensive but it was done right. So a few months later I called because my shower was dripping. When they came I had already obtained the gasket for my shower head but was told it was not needed as it wasn't the gasket but some other minor item which they fixed. I paid the $200 service charge, which seemed a bit steep for the 15 minutes it took but it was fixed. No. 2 weeks later the shower started dripping again & continued at odd intervals over the next few weeks until I called to ask them to come back. Which they did today & at my insistence replaced the gasket & charged me, again. $350 + parts for the same leaky shower. Not happy customer.

Hi Kate,
I'm sorry that we've caused you to become unhappy with our services. Terry noted that the first time we went out to fix your leaking shower, that you have a handheld shower head. With those, it's common for the shower head to drip up to an hour after use because the water gets stuck in the hose. He made sure to explain that the second time around, when he came back to assess the dripping. After inspection the second time, he knew it wasn't an issue with the valve, but rather with the excess water being stored in the shower head.
The charges for the two jobs come from the work that he actually did whilst there. The first time he came by, the $200 charge came from him removing and replacing the cut washers in the shower and spring flushing out the valve to ensure that the leak wasn't coming from there. The second time he came out, the charge came from him replacing the shower cartridge. He charged you as just a base service charge of $150. Had he not replaced the cartridge, he wouldn't have charged you for his second time coming out. Overall, the $350 came not from being unable to fix a dripping shower head, but from the other work he did to the shower whilst informing you where the drip is coming from.
I'm sorry that we've made you unhappy with our services throughout this whole endeavor. We respect and understand your decision to use a different plumber for future job inquiries, but hope that if you decide to use our services again, we're able to provide you with a much better experience than what this has brought you.
