A family friend brought me here as he wanted to show his mother the spectacular views; they do have some nice views.
I know I had been here before, but I don't recall if I had ordered any food. On this occasion I tried the recommended chili, and I was pretty pleasantly surprised...keep in mind my expectations were not that high. What I will definitely say without a doubt, this was the meatiest chili I have ever seen on a menu-beef brisket, ground short rib, smoked kalua pork, pork belly, andouille sausage, and smoked bacon...goodness gracious. I'm not sure that offering such a meatpalooza was necessarily a good thing, as I envisioned all of yesterday's unused meats being tossed into a bucket of beans and..."Voila"..chili. However as I mentioned, I was pretty pleasantly surprised...the chili was solid! I would have liked it to be spicier, but that's just my preference. At $12 for the bowl, I thought it was a pretty good portion for the price. The hot bowl of chili was also served with oyster crackers; I could have eaten 3 bags of those crackers.
What made this visit special was our server's customer service skills. I really with I had gotten their name as they truly deserve the recognition. If I end up making a return I'll be sure to get their name so I may give them a proper thanks!
Enjoy!Helpful 9Thanks 1Love this 7Oh no 0 - Apr 30, 2024
Wonderland Ocean Pub, where have you been all my life? A dear friend of mine introduced me to this gem while I was visiting San Diego, and let me tell you, it was love at first sight!
First off, can we talk about the views? Situated right on the oceanfront, Wonderland offers breathtaking window-front seating that will make your heart skip a beat. We were able to watch the surfers catching waves and the hula hoopers grooving on the beach. It was the perfect way to soak up the laid-back, bohemian vibes of Ocean Beach (or OB, as the cool kids call it).
Now, let's dive into the food. We started with the buffalo cauliflower. Crispy, slightly spicy, and served with a creamy blue cheese dressing, it was the perfect appetizer to kick off our beachside feast. I also indulged in the Mac Daddy Ahi Poke, paired perfectly with the crispy wonton chips on the side.
My friend was surprised to learn that the place had recently undergone a remodel! That's right, folks - this beachside beauty got a facelift, and it's looking better than ever. The atmosphere was simply stunning, and it's clear that the team at Wonderland put a lot of thought and care into creating a space that truly captures the essence of OB.
In the end, what made my visit to Wonderland Ocean Pub so special was the perfect combination of good company, delectable food, top-notch service, and a view that could make even the most jaded soul fall in love with San Diego. If you find yourself in OB, do yourself a favor and pop into Wonderland - trust me, you won't regret it!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 11, 2024
Drinks? Delicious. Food? Scrumptious. Music? Bangin. This is a quintessential brunch must if you're in OB. They're in the midst of a remodel but it doesn't take away from views or experience. If you wanna eat here when there is any televised event though you better get a reservation.
We came early on a Sunday (with a reservation) and had a blast. It took a minute for our first round of drinks to come out but it was because they're making sure all the cocktails are coming out together so no one is left empty handed for cheers. They have one of the best shrimp and grits takes I've had outside of The South. Get a side of fries to dip into its sauce, you'll love it. Trust me! My bf got the standard American Sunrise Breakfast but he wasn't a fan; said it was cold. My food was hot and delicious though so...lol He definitely has food envy over everyone who got the OB Burrito! That may be the move next time for him.
Also if the GM could please share a link to their playlist for the restaurant you'd be my hero.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 672270Apr 5, 2024

A real gem in OB. The main dining room overlooks the OB Pier!
They have the best nachos in San Diego- I stand by that! They layer them so well so every single bite has the goods on it. Chicken, carnitas, steak, all delicious!! They have a big beer list and I haven't tried a cocktail there that I didn't like.
They do trivia on Tuesdays which is a fun addition to their already great food and drinks. Lots of tvs so a good spot for games as well.
The staff here is all great, but shout out to the bartender Mikey- makes great drinks and is always so fun to talk to!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
