Surprised I haven't reviewed this place yet. I've been several times for lunch and it's a good value. Service is friendly and the small restaurant is very clean.
It's a small buffet, but since they also have a teppanyaki grill and fresh sushi, it doesn't feel like you're missing out - although I would love it if they added a vegetable option to the buffet, like green beans or bok choy.
The Chinese buffet has several appetizer options, including two soups and two types of crab Rangoon. Even on the weekday lunch buffet there are always seafood options. Sometimes fried fish or fried shrimp, and usually a grilled shrimp stir fry and a hot crab dish.
They always have something like general tso's chicken and/or honey chicken, as well as jalapeño chicken and beef and broccoli.
I usually get the rice noodles at the teppanyaki grill with veggies and meat. There are several sauce options to flavor your grill meal. Then I add some of the Chinese buffet options as well.
There are a lot of desserts to choose from on the cold bar as well as green salad and fruit. Usually some hot sugar donuts as well.
I've gotten buffet takeout once. You can walk in and ask for a box to fill up and pay by the pound. I think it's $14/pound. Usually I dine in, though. There's another Chinese buffet across the street, but everything here feels fresher and healthier.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Clare G.Lawrence, KS611210Nov 24, 2023
Do
Not even go here , food and service are awful, the crab leg meat was grey and they don't bring out any fresh food,
It was terrible, told waitresses and they didn't care,Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - 109126234Sep 13, 2023
Definitely a bang for your buck. For $12 at lunch, or $16 at dinner you have access to a traditional buffet set up (i.e., fried rice, crab Rangoon, general tsos chicken, and beef and broccoli), your pick of two different sushi rolls (made fresh to order), as well as a teppanyaki station where you can build your perfect plate of meats, fish, and/or veggies which is then cooked on a flat-top grill.
The buffet choices were a little slim compared to many other buffets, but food was fresh, flavorful, filling, and had many staple dishes. Service is thoughtful - servers keep glasses filled and plates cleared, and check by every so often.
The building itself is well-maintained, very clean and tidy. Maybe would have been nice to have some music playing, but other than that no complaints.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 1566208Nov 2, 2023
My husband and I decided to try this new restaurant as the photos and reviews looked pretty good. I have to admit, I was very underwhelmed. I think given the fact that this is a buffet It's hard to expect too much, but it seemed very on par for most Chinese buffets.
I believe the owner was working, and I he seemed very nice and accommodating. Our server was inattentive, I had to ask for more water towards the end of the meal, and we were her only table.
If you're a sushi person you're not gonna like the sushi. It seemed like a poor substitute for good sushi and I know that going to a buffet is not the place you would normally go, I give them credit for even trying. I don't know how to describe it. It just wasn't good.
I really enjoyed the Mongolian barbecue. They had lots of great ingredients, but I absolutely love using crushed peanuts and they didn't have any. By the time I had finished most of my MB, the main Chinese buffet, looked utterly unappetizing. Honestly, Mongolian barbecue plus a Chinese food buffet seems like a lot, and the food appeared to have been there for a while. I was a little concerned because it was not busy at dinner time which is not typical for a restaurant in this area. They had a scoop your own ice cream freezer for dessert. I saw one gentleman reaching into the ice cream tubs with the scooper, and he had his arm all the way down inside of it the way an ice cream scooping person would do...like employed scooper, lol! I felt uncomfortable thinking about the hundreds of people who were down
inside this ice cream bucket before me, using the same scooper. I decided to pass. I did try one of the cute little dessert mango cups. I have no idea what they were but they were very tasty.
I would go back here for the Mongolian barbecue, but that's about it. The decor was a little weird to me. There were many appliqués of KAWS, characters, like Mickey Mouse, or Elmo, with X instead of the eyes. I might be able to appreciate this art in a different setting, but it just didn't seem to work with the restaurant vibe, it felt creepy.
There were some very nice staff here and they have some decent food. I would try it again, but it's not gonna be a go to place at this point. If you're a Chinese buffet person, I would give it a chance.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Alec H.Kansas City, MO81712Jul 7, 2023Updated review
This place is amazing as always. They've added new rolls (a couple of them pictured) and new additions such as crab legs to the buffet menu. Your eyes will definitely be bigger than your stomach.
Staff is quick and friendly, makes you feel like eating with friends.
They have continually made this place better and me extremely full too many times to count now.
You'd be extremely surprised of the quality here for the price, $18.99 buffet with sushi and hibachi and extra buffet items??? Yup.
Has been & still my favorite spot in the Northland since it's openedHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 13, 2022Previous reviewCame here again for a second time. Honestly this place is my new favorite in the north land. The food is always fresh and the staff is great. If you haven't been already you should go before they start to have lines out the door!
Jun 25, 2022Previous reviewThe price of this place and the quality of food is wild in todays day. There wasn't one thing that I didn't like between the buffet, hibachi, and sushi! My wife and I found a new spot to add to our favorites. BC is super nice too! Great hospitality

I have to hand it to this small establishment-- initially, it was probably closer to 4 stars when it first opened, but now I can safely say it's a 5-star place. Here's why:
Although this buffet does not have the most variety, I feel like they cook in small quantities so that the food is always fresh. I REALLY appreciate that. Plus, they have the staples (general tso's, crab Rangoon, egg drop soup, etc.). I think the only thing I wished they had was stir-fried string beans with garlic. But this place also has made-to-order sushi. Is it fancy? No. It's very basic (think California rolls), but it's unlimited! The benefit to having sushi made-to-order is that the rice doesn't get super hard/stale. To top it off, this place also has a hibachi section where you can build your own plate.
If I had anything else to add, it's that the owner is a man that seems to really care about his business and his customers. He's always incredibly nice, and it makes us feel good to support an owner like him.
Overall: I really recommend this place. I almost don't want to because I don't want it to be packed when we try to go, but I have to, cause this place is a gem!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Enrique T.Kansas City, MO52965Feb 22, 2023Updated review
This place is amazing, the owner is present every time we go here and he makes your sushi fresh, and the buffet bar is always fresh and good, I have not tried the hibachi grill yet.

Such an affordable buffet! Service could be a bit faster and I wish there were some more vegetarian options but overall I'm still a huge fan of the place and the variety !

It's so awesome to have a place like this in the northland finally! If you're a fan of BD's Mongolian BBQ you'll like this place only it's MUCH better! They also offer sushi in addition to teppanyaki. For those that aren't familiar to what teppanyaki is, it's where you fill a bowl up with meats, veggies, and sauces. Then you take it to the cook and they cook it up fresh for you! It's so good and all you can eat!!! The only downfall is the cleanliness. It's very sticky and oily... all over! The decor inside is a little... interesting. Service is minimal as it's basically buffet style but they keep your drinks full!
