I really enjoyed the dim sum here! It was also unique in the sense that they were really crowded so they asked if i was comfortable sharing a table with other people so I said yes. It ended up working out cause I got to meet two cool dudes and we had a great conversation the entire time!

There isn't much seating here so our table of 4 had to wait (not too long) but we felt like we were in the way while waiting because the space is so small.
Service was slow, but the food did come out fast.
We ordered mostly dim sum which was mostly priced at $5.69 each plate (on 10/30/2022). The SPARE RIBS IN BLACK BEAN SAUCE and all of the steamed dumplings hit the spot however the CHICKEN FEET IN BLACK BEAN SAUCE was too chewy as if they needed to be steamed longer so I'd skip on that.
Would come here again because they did have a lot of different congee options.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 8, 20241 check-in
Food: ok
Service: bad
Ambiance: uncomfortable, crowded & chaotic
The food was ok. It was not anything special compared to any other standard dim sum restaurant. One of the dishes we ordered (shrimp chive dumplings) came out to us RAW at first. That sucked, especially since I only discovered the fact from first taking a bite... Luckily, I didn't get sick.
With regards to what really brought this rating down, the service and ambiance. We came in on a Sunday afternoon, and the small restaurant was decently busy, but we were the first names on the wait list. The waitress who received us was very rude and impatient to us. At first, we didn't want to share a table, so she basically tossed us aside and put other people at tables before us when we said that. A family sat themselves down without waiting for the staff to seat them, and they got away with it. So we came back to her and said we were willing to share a table. She gave me a look of annoyance and then and she squished us at a very, very full table. Their seating system is terrible. There was not enough room for the patrons who were already seated at the table, let alone 2 additional customers. Everyone was uncomfortable and crowded. If the restaurant wants to do a sharing system, they should do it better. Especially at a dim sum restaurant, where the nature of ordering multiple small dishes is bound to take up a lot of room. The whole time, the waiters were never attentive about taking away our finished dishes or checking on us.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tony B.South Boston, Boston, MA140219Dec 16, 2023
Windsor Dim Sum Cafe: Dim Sum Delights in a Cozy Setting
When it comes to satisfying my dim sum cravings, Windsor Dim Sum Cafe is my pick. This spot has its charm, offering a good selection of dim sum that hits the right notes.
The menu boasts a variety of dim sum options, showcasing the kitchen's dedication to delivering authentic flavors. Each bite is a taste of traditional dim sum goodness.
However, it's important to note that while the dim sum is commendable, the restaurant itself is on the smaller side. The cozy setting may not provide the grand dim sum experience you'd find in larger establishments in the area.
For those seeking a satisfying dim sum fix without the need for a sprawling setting, Windsor Dim Sum Cafe is a worthy choice. Just keep in mind that for the ultimate dim sum experience, you might want to explore other options in the area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 4637736Nov 11, 2023
Very average dim sum place with a few negative idiosyncrasies.
1. They have an absurd $40 minimum charge for a credit card. If you were with friends and wanted to split, they demand $40 on each card.
2. The place is small and the waitresses can be aggressive about hurrying you up to leave, or about squishing in on a shared table. Part of the joy of dim sum is drinking tea and having a chat.
3. Relative expensive. Most of the dishes are $6.95.
I would recommend Hei La Moon or China Pearl instead. However, one advantage of Winsor is that they serve dim sum in the afternoon after other places stop and make their transition to dinnertime/banquet style meals.
Other than for late afternoon or evening, I would go elsewhere.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 27, 2024
Was excited to try out Windsor as a staple dim sum place in Chinatown, but I think the Bay Area really spoiled me. We were seated very quickly at our own table, luckily beating a huge crowd that walked in after us who were split amongst several large tables. We ordered way too much than we could eat, a common problem, and while it can definitely satisfy a craving, it wasn't fully what I was looking for. Most of the dumplings were slightly overcooked and thus mushy, although most had good flavor. I enjoyed the stir fried turnip cakes, as that is not something I commonly see on menus and it had good wok hei, but for almost $100 I would have liked less mushy dumplings. Would I come back here? Maybe, if I was really really craving dumplings in the middle of Boston, but the hunt for legit dim sum in Boston continues for me.

We went at 6pm and there was not a wait. We were seated at a large table and shared with other diners. Service was quick. They brought out hot tea right away. We ordered off the dim sum menu and the food was out within 7 minutes. It was hot and steamy, unfortunately not very good. The sui mai needed a few more minutes in the steamer, the fried taro had a burned taste, the other dishes were mediocre and bland.

Okay to good dim sum, but certainly not worth a wait or a special trip. Best dish we had was probably the crispy fried bean curd rolls. The regular bean curd roll with oyster sauce was also good. Everything else (shrimp noodle roll, turnip cake, hargow) was fine but forgettable.

The food here is so good! I love how fast and fresh everything is! This also a very entry level dim sum location! They have great menu and amazing service! This place is a little small but offer community seating which is different! Also offer take out! Prefer cash but take card!

One of my go to dimsum places in Chinatown, although I think their Quincy location may be better. Hei La Moon was absolutely PACKED on Mother's Day weekend, but we were able to get seated quite quickly here, although we did have to share a table. Food came out super quickly. We ordered 10 dishes for 3 people - ended up being about $25pp. Overall solid dimsum place.
- order on a menu, no carts
- tables don't have lazy susan
- you most likely will be sharing a table with other parties
- despite having a $40 minimum to use credit card, they told us cash only...
- tea is not complimentary despite it being automatically on the tableHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
