    About the Business

Established in 1950. By Brother Charles Boglitz, SM (1989) Junipero Serra High School, an archdiocesan school for boys located in Gardena, California, was established by Cardinal McIntyre, Archbishop of Los Angeles, in 1950, and confided to the Society of Mary (Marianists), an international religious Congregation, comprised of priests and Brothers, noted for its excellent schools. Of French origin, Father William Joseph Chaminade, a diocesan priest, at Bordeaux, France, founded the congregation in 1817. The site selected for Serra High was a twenty-four acre plot located on Van Ness Avenue, bounded by Compton Boulevard (now Marine Ave.) and 146th Place. At the time of the purchase the land was being used as a truck garden with cabbages being the principal vegetable grown.…

This review is solely for the parking lot, football field and staff.

My family and I attended a Friday night football game as a parent and first time visitor to this field.

Parking lot is not huge but it was large enough for 150-175 vehicles. The $10.00 fee to park was very affordable and secure as the lot is in a fenced in area conveniently located adjacent to the football field.

The staff from the moment I entered the parking lot until I left the field was OUTSTANDING!!!!

They were ALL very friendly, welcoming and ready to assist ANYONE and EVERYONE w/ any issue whatsoever. From the ladies checking online parking passes, security at the entrance to the snack bar vendors, they were all AWESOME!

The stadium itself is very large and well maintained. Seats were comfortable, PA system was very clear, the scoreboard was easily visible and the field itself was in great condition.

Thank you Serra High School for a positive experience even though our team lost, life goes on and life is GREAT!

Not to fond of this school. My child is in the 11th grade and has been here since 9th. The staff is so unprofessional. No one returns your calls or emails in a timely matter. Just overall a horrible experience. I'm so glad there only 1 year remaining. I would pull her out but she wants to stay due to all her friends being there. I have 3 other kids In catholic school and I will NOT be applying for them to attend here. I can't take another 8 years of Serra college prep or not. Horrible experience so far and we're 3 years in. And if you disagree don't report my experience just upload yours. How pathetic is it to report my experience cause you don't like it. That's just why I don't like it here and no more of my kids will be attending. The staff and other parents are the worst!!!!!

Great school for kids who are serious about learning and having a high opportunity to go to college. The staff is serious about A-G requirements. They plan students' schedules which prevents them from taking a bunch of unnecessary electives. Students are also required to take the religious studies class each year. During orientation, there is prayer before and after the meeting. Administrators clearly explain the school's policies and procedures that are listed in the handbook.

The school is small and has been co-ed for years now. They have great basketball and football teams and provide other extracurricular and athletic options for students. They encourage parent participation by requiring 50 hours of volunteer service as well. If affordable, I'd recommend this school to anyone.

Very great school, which it provides a great head start to college, and also helps students that need financial aid. I highly suggest this school.

      First to Review

This review is not about the high school itself, but an after school activity held on campus. Tsk, Tsk, the activity is not accosting the high school aged boys either.

At the Band Room at Serra High at 6:30PM, there is a $5 Zumba class held Monday through Wednesday.

When I went, there was 10 people in the class, which was a nice size for me, the beginner. And you'd think dancing around for an hour wouldn't be a very good workout, but it was because I ached for three days.

If you're a bit out of shape, need to shed some weight and have taken any sort of dance classes before, you can totally do Zumba. Try it!

It's my sisters first year at this school. She's the first one to attend a private school in the family and I love the environment. She loves the school . At first she didn't seem to adapt to the school because she went from public school to private school but now she's in love and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. The teachers and staff are amazing. It is a safe environment for the kids . Teachers email you all the time. The communication is great. It is a small population compared to public schools and all of the teachers and staff are aware of everything that goes on. I wish I would have attended this school.
