$7/wk for kids taekwondo classes on Friday nights. Group class of about 20 kids and two instructors.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the teachers nor staff, They take great care of my child and are Very patient with teaching.
-1 star STRICTLY for the disorganized and disfunctional street traffic that this school causes and how the principle handles this.
I literally take my child to school every morning at 7:15-7:18AM routinely through the drive through drop off patiently waiting for the gates to open for the solar panel parking. The Principle Regina Serbin rushes out to my truck YELLING "You can't be waiting in this line UNTIL 7:30AM when the gates open because you're blocking my staff from the parking lot"
First of all HOW am I blocking the staff when the staffs cars I am blocking have already parked? This would not be a problem if they opened up the solar panel parking earlier for SAFER drop offs into the school.
I didn't make a fuss so i said okay sure, what time can I start lining up? She says, "7:30AM when the gates open."
Does she want everyone to START getting in line @ 730?! Like school starts 745AM people are gonna be late going to school, and driving through to WORK and cause traffic on the main street road - IT GETS DANGEROUS.
i've asked all the traffic stop ladies in the morning when this gate opens up and where I can wait for drop offs, and everyone gives me A DIFFERENT ANSWER.
The SECOND she tells me off that I cant park and wait in line to drop my child off, I drive ALL THE WAY AROUND and park on the STREET and then I see MORE people start waiting in the drop off line at 7:20AM, she does NOT say a WORD to them nor make them drive around UNTIL 7:30AM. If this is a problem SHE needs to be outside all morning regulating the traffic.
- WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING 2 LANES (1 for buses and 1 for driving into the solar panel parking to drop your kids off. IF YOU CANT WAIT IN LINE UNTIL 7:30 ON THE DOT??
Every morning parents use the bus lane to drop their kids off QUICKLY, to avoid the CRAZY exit traffic from this school, they do not stop parents who park on the red curbs for drop offs (ALL OF THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE disfunctional management)
OH be careful driving through the solar panel parking lot, your cars suspension will literally EAT every single hole & bump and cause you problems, don't know why this is taking so long to fix, and getting OUT from the solar panel parking is a NIGHTMARE. NO ONE to regulate the flow of traffic, you have parents fighting over getting out and going through the entire dirt field to EXIT the gates.
PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS FOR OTHER PARENTS. Fortunately this will be my child's last year here at Walker Elementary School.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Romi Z.San Diego, CA02Mar 29, 2024
My daughter was extremely behind going to this school. Walker said there was nothing else they can do for my daughter and on her IEP placed her as severe autism. She's only been going to Hage Elementary for 2 years now and she's CAUGHT UP. She is in the general ed now and before Walker tried placing her in a class full of students who do not speak. I would give NO STARS to this school if I could.
Don't place your kids here if they are a bit behind. Instead of helping them catch up they will just deem them unteachable like they did my daughter. "Nothing else we can do" is what they said.. My daughter absolutely loves Hage. She's always excited everyday to go to school and over at Walker she always asked to stay home. She also dealt with bullying at Walker as well as teachers who did not believe in her. Hage love for my daughter has definitely given her a big push! My daughter loves her friends AND teachers at Hage. She never had anything great to say about her days at Walker. What's the most important to me is her education and Hage was an excellent choice because they helped her catch up with her peers. I wished I brought my daughter to Hage sooner. But we Live and we Learn.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 112361533Mar 13, 2010First to Review
Bias? just a little...
I went here for elementary school and as I understand Walker has gone through lots of administrative changes since.
But the principal there now is amazing! She supports the Students, Staff and Parents 110%. She has only been here a few years but continues to make positive changes each and everyday.
Yay Eagles!

Poor curriculum. We enrolled our daughter here thinking it was a decent elementary school. About a month later we get a letter stating that it is part of an "improvement program". Basically the school has not met state test scores. The letter stated we could switch our child to a school that does not fall into this category but the schools that were offered were far away.
I was also surprised to see that there were some students did not know how to speak English at all! You, as a parent are doing your child a disservice by not teaching them english prior to attending a school in America!
The office workers at the school are rude and act like they hate life. They are not welcoming and make you feel like you are a disturbance.
This school is bullshit.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Jessica N.San Diego, CA02Sep 4, 2017
We just moved to the area and my daughter started Walker as a third grader. My first impression when I toured the school and talked to the principle Mr Phillips and his staff was amazing. They are very friendly and well organized. I was nervous at first about the low academic test scores compare to other school. However, when my daughter was home for the first school day, I checked her folder and extremely satisfied how well organized and academic challenge that my daughter will receive. Mrs Flores was so nice and so welcoming and made my daughter felt fearless that she volunteered as a Food Sheriff even she was so new to the school and didn't know where the cafeteria was. lol. I am confident that my daughter would get the same or more academic challenges as well as her social skill here at Walker.
