Vinn's Tavern

What a surprise this was, when I was doing some contract work in the Burg.

No need to dress your best, Vinn's offers great food and drink in a relaxed environment, at a very reasonable price. Each day not only offers the regular menu, but 6-8 specials, which are posted daily on FB. Be sure to try the soups made fresh daily. Outdoor seating, legal beverages, and live music on certain evenings.

The feeling I get when going to Vinn's is like going to Cheers. They view you as a friend, and look forward to when you come again.

We just moved in down the street, and I was so excited to learn there was a tavern within walking distance! And not just any walking distance, walking distance for a very lazy person.
Unfortunately, in spite of having The Best onion rings I've ever had in my life, I won't be returning here any time soon. I walked in with my dad, my brother and my girlfriend the very same day we first arrived in town. We had just driven for five days straight from California, unloaded the pets and the trailer, and we were all ready for a chill meal and good beer.

We walked in, sat down, and were immediately accosted by some old codger who had clearly been there drinking all day and was desperately in need of a glass of water and some bread, who was apparently offended that we were wearing masks in the middle of a pandemic. No comment from the waitress.

But she apparently had something to say about our California IDs, when she took them behind the counter and exclaimed in a very loud whisper: "California?! What the fuck are they doing here?!?!" Like we wouldn't hear that.

The only reason I'm giving Vin's two stars instead of one is those onion rings. Completely homemade, and goddamn, were they amazing. Not good enough to get me back in there, though. Even with the convenient distance. Oh well, we'll just be having our drinks down at The Place, instead! :)

Other comment(s) say it is closed. Ate there on 5/15 and 5/22. Also twice before that, 1 or more years ago. NOT CLOSED NOW. A great, inexpensive, local place. Clean, very good food, large servings.
