Vatos Tacos Grill & Cantina

Vatos Tacos is a pretty typical Mexican Food joint. They have tasty grub and ice cold beer. What separates Vatos Tacos from other cantinas is that Vatos has the best chile relleno in Bakersfield. Absolutely love the Vatos red sauce they use top the chile relleno.

Mediocre tacos overpriced for what they are.
Meat seems like it's been held past the expiration date.
Very dry and hardly any flavor, if I was drunken mess I wouldn't have minded paying 4.50 per each street sized taco.

Even at a discount I wouldn't ever buy from here again.

Such a waste of my money expecting good food.

Ordered burrito and had to pay for hot sauce, food was good but paying 50 cents each for a tablespoon of salsa not worth it.

I discovered this place a few months ago and I've been going at least once a week since then!!! The food is fire!! The beans and rice taste homemade, the meat has so much flavor and tender, and the best part are the habanero onions!!! The staff is always upbeat, they are attentive and did I mention the price is also affordable? They have daily specials and the dish sizes are very good. The vibe is always good, on Tuesdays they have a live DJ and they play all kinds of genres. There's something here for everyone, you won't be disappointed!!

Five stars for food and service! First time trying this location. The food was delicious! Tried the street hotdog which was loaded with all the goods! Ordered some chicken nachos and they too had all the perfect toppings w fresh crispy chips! I would return for the good food.
Unfortunately the drinks - meh! Weak and too much juice. Margaritas lack tequila and could use a smaller glass. Those tall margaritas are basically a lemonade.
This is the only reason I didn't give all 5 stars.

We recently decided to go in to grab some lunch. I had heard from friends that it was pretty good. There is bar seating or table seating. I ordered Birla tacos they were crunchy. I did order the sauce on the side because to be honest the sauce packs more heat than I like. But it is really great flavor, and I highly recommend you stopping by to get a bite to eat. They have so many different things to try I look forward to returning to eat some other meal choices. The staff is friendly and prices are fair.

Great food and appetizers selections on the menu. I would suggest you try Taco Tuesday or Wings Wednesday great specials and on top of that a full bar with happy hour specials too.

So we just went to Vatos Tacos on the east side for our 3rd total visit to Vatos Tacos last week. My wife and I went to them when they used to be a taco truck residing in the parking lot of Stockdale Liquors, so we knew the food was amazing. After tonight, it doesn't look like we will ever be patrons again, at least until they realize a waitress, Taylor C. Is ruining their business. My four friends and I went to Vatos tacos this evening ordering several beers and food. Over the course of our time there, we began with our waiter who is an awesome guy, but his shift was ending so midway through our meal he let us know that Taylor would be taking over and taking care of us. From that moment on, our service went to the dogs. It took her over an hour to actually come check on our table. My wife had to go to the bar to order the next round of drinks, as she also watched the bartender get on to Taylor for not checking on our table, upon which Taylor replied "I didn't know I was supposed to take care of them." Clearly she didn't have a great work ethic. So for the next three hours while my friends and I drank and ate, Taylor came to our table maybe a total of two times. Our drinks were consistently delivered by a male waiter and when he was not available, we had to go up to the bar to get our drinks. So as the night wound down, and we go to get the check to cash out, Taylor tries to sneakily add an 18% gratuity to our purchase, which, for the lack of total effort on her part, none of our group was willing to pay, because we did not want Taylor to end up with roughly around a 40$ tip for work she never did. As we brought this to the attention of staff, they said that it doesn't matter that it is Saturday, there was a dodger game on and it was considered a game day(even though their Instagram account shows that game days only include the NFL season) (so any day could be a game day), and we assumed this was Taylor's way of getting a tip for work she didn't do. As we argued this with manager and agreed to pay our bill for what we owed minus the 18% gratuity, this was still not good enough and were treated as criminals by staff and customers. As we left our bill of over 90$, customers and workers on our way out cheered to never come back and good riddance, quite unprofessional, especially coming from customers who clearly supported or were family members/regulars of Taylor. People who truly did not have the full story, otherwise I'm sure they would have felt stupid supporting a waitress who barely did her job. Overall, avoid this place when Taylor is working, small red head who doesn't know how to prioritize as a waitress. Otherwise Vatos Tacos has some bomb food, just one awful waitress.

I'm also including a picture of my receipt from our first visit on a Taco Tuesday, where you can see we got there around 445pm on a Dodger game day, but no gratuity fee whatsoever was charged. Proving our waitress was trying to scam our entire group in paying for a tip she did not earn.

DELISH!!!! Great drinks...the Adios was yummy and a great way to start the night!! Tacos great French fries amazing!! They have a good happy hour as well!! Go check them out! This was the first time we came and will be back!!

Food was okay not bad but man tooo over priced so their portion sizes ....

4 bucks for small plate of chips and salsa ?

50 cents for a tiny side of green salsa ??!!
I kid you not it was the size of my thumb!...

The burrito we got was good too but it was waaaay too much for such a small little burrito didn't even get full from it

Hate leaving a place we spend so much money and don't get full from. Won't be coming back ... sorry.
