Q:
Hello. I normally buy a large order for my garden and would like to ask if you could fulfill / deliver it to my home in Evanston. I would prefer to use a local family owned business than a big box. I would like to reserve the plants?
A:
Hello. Unfortunately, we are unable to deliver, as we are a rather small, family-run business. Thanks, Urhausen Greenhouses

Great product. Great prices. It's not the junk you get at Home Depot or Lowe's. All from their own greenhouses.

Great variety & pricing! I go here for almost all my outdoor plants.
It can get pretty crowded, though, in late May. And by late June don't expect much to pick from.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2418248May 29, 2022
I just started container gardening last summer (I only have balcony spaces) and I'm desperately trying not to kill anything/like to try planting a variety of flowers. A colleague of mine who is a master gardener recommended this place, saying that their prices were reasonable and their plants were healthy, great selection, etc. I have now gone twice so far this season and the plants are beautiful, there is a fantastic selection, and they have lovely hanging baskets (especially a nice variety of fuchsias!) Most annuals are inside, along with herbs, ground cover, vines and veggies, while perennials are outside in rows. There are little metal carts you can use, although they are a bit cumbersome to move through the small aisles, so I typically end up taking my purchases up to the front and placing them on a cart to check out. Parking is plentiful on the street out in front, as it's nestled in a quiet residential area. It's a perfect place!

Great adventure, kind pleasant staff. If it's not on the website, visit them anyway, they'll probably have it.

This family-owned greenhouse is tucked away on a quiet street in LIncolnwood and is truly a hidden gem. I just love strolling their vast greenhouses filled with geraniums, begonias, coleus, vegetables and hundreds of other varieties of exotic outdoor plants. They also have perennials and roses out in the yard. And since I wrote my original review 11 years ago, they do take credit cards. If you want pedestrian greenery, go to Home Depot or Lowe's, but if you want something unique for your garden, and you want to support a local, family-owned business, go to Urhausen's! You will not be disappointed.

Never disappointed with this place, I've been buying plants here for years.
I go during the week, I assume it's pretty busy on weekends.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sandy J.Denver, CO9905Apr 27, 2019Updated review
They're not very nice to their customers but it's still a lovely place. Also, like stuff grown in most local greenhouses, unfortunately their plants are prone to fungus. I still think we should support local places so the big box stores don't send them all out of business
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 26, 2013Previous reviewAll the plants are grown right there. Many unusual plants and varieties, along with the standards stuff. The guys that work there know so much about their plants and it's a joy talking to them. Very clean, beautiful nursery with gorgeous bug-free and disease-free plants.
