I can't overstate how much I love this school, especially my son's instructor Dan. Dan is an amazing teacher for kids who focuses on technical fundamentals and music reading while working through a library of playful music. His patience with a hyperactive 6 year old is incredible, and he skillfully mixes humor and focus time to keep things lively but on task. My son loves it. So do I!

I have always wanted to learn to play the guitar and I was a little nervous to start as an adult. Kyle was so amazing to work with. He was so patient and is so talented and really taught me a lot in the past year that I had been working with him. I really enjoyed my experience!

Sacha is fantastic! Really great guy who knows his stuff! I'd recommend him for sure! The problem is the owner.... She doesn't return calls, doesn't make schedules, has very poor communication skills. The lessons are great. I did learn lots when it comes to singing! It's the owner who just is very inconsistent. There were a few occasions where I would show up and they didn't have me on their schedule since she never told them. Luckily I had proof through texts to show I'm paying for the lesson! Like I said before, great teachers, not great management. I would totally recommend the instructor for personal lessons but not too sure if I would say yes to the management. Parking sucks too!

Once my daughter started taking lessons with Hollis her guitar playing improved dramatically. She had taken lessons for years at various places, and although she wanted to play guitar she never really got into it. Now she's been learning with Hollis for about 6 months and her playing has not only improved but she practices on her own as well.

I've been taking lessons here for years. I've had lessons with Dan and Hollis and I think both are excellent.

I've been taking lessons with Hector for about 4 months now, and I've been very pleased. The lessons are laid back and tailored towards what I want to be working on. Hector definitely knows his stuff; he's been playing for a long time and is very knowledgeable about the technical aspects of playing guitar. However, he is very good at explaining things in simple terms that are easy to understand for a beginner.

I particularly enjoy the positive encouragement I receive from Hector. Despite the fact that I'm still very new to the instrument (and admittedly, I'm still pretty bad), I am encouraged and the focus is on making continuous improvement rather than what I'm doing wrong.

Overall, I'm a big fan of the Ultimate School of Guitar. I've been wanting to learn to play for a very long time, and I finally feel like I'm on the road toward becoming a good guitar player. Definitely worth checking out!

My daughter's father found this place for my daughter to take guitar lessons. Since she has started here, I don't have to nag her to practice or "drag" to the lesson!

Her instructor, Hollis, is very good and takes her time with her. I am so grateful we finally found someone who not only knows music but also understands how to work with young teenagers.

The historic building offers a great lake view and my daughter just loves coming here!

Can't believe this place is still around! Took my child for lessons here and they were really bad. The instructor, although nice, was not terribly good at teaching children. Although my child could already play another instrument and read music, the teacher could barely make any progress. The location was just awful-at a park district building-which was very dirty, no place to wait or park, and worst of all so noisy that my child could barely concentrate on the lesson. After two sets of lessons, for which I paid in advance, I could see that I needed to find a better teacher. The owner was impossible about not giving me a refund and was not very nice about my complaints. I cut my losses and found a real guitar teacher and now both my kids are accomplished guitarists and really enjoy playing. Want to learn to play guitar? Get a real teacher and forget about this place.

The manager of the guitar school Hollis is awful at scheduling and managing the classes. Often the classes get cancelled, times shifted, location shifted and sometimes there is no location to have a class. The instructor is nice but could do with a better manager. The manager would reply to your emails on scheduling at her own leisure...once it took 7 months and then I had to get back again to make sure the classes continue. They take the money in advance at a discount of $2/class but trust me that is not the option you want to take. Take the one where you pay $22/class. In any case some other place might turn out better.

I am really glad I started taking lessons here! I have learned more in the last 3 weeks than I have in a couple months during previous lessons elsewhere. Instructor/owner Hollis is great. Very outgoing and professional. She works hard at trying to accomodate my lessons with my schedule which i appreciate. It is nice to finally enjoy my lessons while learning at the same time. Thank you!
