Don't expect to get treated within a reasonable time. Took two hours to call me back and ask for my symptoms just to make me wait 2 more hours to even try and make an appointment. Don't go here unless you have no other option.

When i take birth control I skip the sugar pills and continue on the next birth control. Then that means if you give me 3 months worth birth control, I will finish that in 9 weeks! Do the math: 12 weeks - 3 weeks = 9 weeks. And they're acting SO surprised and the pharmacy refuses to give me my refill that the doctor prescribed. Not only that they give me SO MUCH ATTITUDE. Looking at me up and down. Please if you have a brain, THINK. Of course I finish the pill after getting a refil at week 0. It's week 9 now. They even tried to make me pay for the pills when I have INSURANCE. Like, excuuuuuuse me I don't pay over $1K to NOT receive get my rightfully prescribed pills. How dare you tell me to pay for it because you can't do your job.

The first time I ever came to Student Health was not because I was sick, it was for a check-up I needed in order to study abroad.
Staff is nice, doctors are nice, but they try too hard to force you into talking with their counselors. I'm in good health, a good student, and I don't over do it with the extracurriculars. But they kept trying to find something wrong with me, so that I could talk to their counselors. In the end, I did. Waste of time and resources I say. No wonder they charge each student almost $500 a quarter.
The second and probably the last time I will ever come here, I had this cough that wouldn't go away. It's been 2.5 weeks since I've had it, and the doctor could not figure out what was causing it. She did however kept talking about me seeing one of their great counselors. When I refused, she just kept prying and want to know why I wouldn't go and wouldn't trust that I know how to handle myself. She wouldn't let me leave until I agreed, because once I did, she rushed me and sent me off.
Later that day, I got even sicker. My cough was cough was still there, but now I had a fever, sweating, tired, headaches, a little sore, etc. Coming here made me sick.
Needless to say, the doctor was useless, and my friend in nursing school had a much better diagnosis of my mysterious cough than that doctor who I will remain nameless because from my experience here, they are all the same. I still had my cough a week later, and went to a real hospital who diagnosed me with exactly what my nursing school friend said it could be.
I need my doctor to be a doctor, and if I need a counselor or someone to talk to, I know where to go. Good thing I waive this ridiculous university health insurance every year. Waste of my time, and thankfully not money. Not coming back again.
My suggestion: if you want to get sick, come here. If you want to talk to a counselor, come here. If you want to waste your time and money, come here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Robert M.West Hollywood, CA42615821Dec 20, 2016
The appointment clerk was very sweet/helpful, the nurses were very sweet/helpful, the physician was very sweet/helpful, BUT the check in clerk had somewhat of an attitude lol
However, overall my experience here was pretty good!
They give GREAT healthcare services and offer pretty good advice

For a student, this place is great as it is has every basic medical service. From primary care to urgent care to physical therapy to psychiatry to optometry to a pharmacy and so much more. The facility works with student health plans and financial aid to release the stressful financial burden on students. Every staff member is willing to provide the top most quality of care and most patients are students. Not every doctor is perfect as I have had good and bad experiences at the facility, but overall my experience has been great. Do note though that copays and other fees are billed to a student's BARC account that need to be paid at the end of the quarter and things like eyeglasses and urgent care costs can be expensive. I recommend all to stop on by and give this place a try!

Student Health encompasses everything you'd expect of doctors, psychiatrists, pharmacists, physical therapists, and more. They're always more than willing to help even when they're busy and packed with students. One thing that is frustrating is scheduling because you often won't be able to get one until a couple weeks or more.

I love our student health! It's easy to make an online appointment and all of the Nurse Practitioners are so friendly and helpful. They are really used to catering to college students, so I have always found them extremely easy to talk to. The wait times are really low when you have an appointment and the whole atmosphere of the center is warm and inviting, which is great because my doctors at home always have a huge wait time and the offices are cold and kind of depressing.
They have appointments for literally any problem that you are having, you can buy cheap medicine/ bandaids/ etc at the pharmacy, and if you have the student health insurance you can get free STI testing done by just picking up a form at the information desk and handing it to the staff at the lab area, after which they will send your results via a secure email system. Every experience I have had here has been great, and it's given me a new interest in pursuing a career in nursing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jason Z.Silver Spring, MD2010915Jan 19, 2017
During my five years at UCSB, I used the health center for routine appointments and emergencies. I received great care and appreciated the friendly staff, especially Dr. Robert Hughes and Dr. Miguel Pedroza. If you have insurance through UCSB definitely use it-- it's top-notch. All routine or emergency visits are covered and the deductible for procedures is low. It was the best insurance that I've ever had, and probably will ever have.

The optometrist and the people at physical therapy are very nice. So is one of the counselors that I've met. But I just have a complaint about the Riviera clinic. I don't know if they're in a funk or something, but they're rude. The desk receptionist and one of the nurses were just . Their mannerisms and the way they treat the students are not okay. The overall feel of all the workers were just negative. I know that dealing with college students may be tiring and frustrating, but this is also urgent care, you deal with people like this. (Not saying I know how to do their job, but would it kill you to smile a little or just reply like a normal polite person? Idk man)

I've been relatively happy with my experience at Student Health so far. I am usually at the Sierra Clinic when I have an appointment, and have a good rapport with my physician, but I am not crazy about the receptionists there and at the lab. They are usually rude, do not respond, and condescend students when they are asking very reasonable questions. These really make the experience kind of the worst.
