    About the Business

With high-quality made-to-order burgers, a 'come as you are' environment and a strange reverence for Chuck Norris, there's no place else quite like Twisted Root. Way back before 'gourmet burgers' was a thing, Chefs Jason Boso & Quincy Hart decided to build a restaurant around half-pound, fresh ground burgers with a menu that allowed customers to build their own burgers with a list of crazy and inventive toppings. The two met in culinary school, after jobs in stock brokerages and telephone line repair. After paying their dues working the line at The Four Seasons & Pappas Bros, Jason & Quincy finally opened Twisted Root Burger Co. in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas in 2006. Twisted Root appeared on the second season of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri (2009) and suddenly Twisted Root was a dining destination in Dallas. While Twisted Root Burger Co. has seen incredible growth, Jason & Quincy have stuck to their roots and their senses of humor, using a hands-on approach to high-quality, fresh food in an casual atmosphere with tons of personality.…

Burgers are 1/2 lb cooked medium well unless you indicate otherwise. The buns... this really made the burger. They were soft and buttery. I really liked the burger.

      * Big Tex Burger - Juicy and flavorful. The housemade guacamole and ranch were yummy. I would add tomato next time.

      * The Classic - Delicious and truly a classic. I would've liked maybe one more tomato slice, but I doused it in ketchup anyway.

      Sides and stuff:
      * Hand-Punched Fries are double fried but some were still a bit soggy. They were fresh, hand-cut potatoes. They were good.

      * The housemade pickles were AMAZING and crunchy. Bread & Butter was sweet and the perfect topping for my burger. Dill was a classic sour.

      * Hand-crafted soda was carbonated and crisp. I had the root beer.

      Environment:
      * The decor fun to look at. Moderate noise but still quiet enough for an initimate conversation or a place to hang out. I like how they use pop culture names to associate orders.

      * The bathrooms are gender-neutral and inclusive. Pretty clean as well.

      * The staff is friendly and willing to help.

Big Tex Burger (top) and The Classic (bottom) - Juicy patties and soft, buttery buns.
Hand-Punched Fries slapped. They were fresh.

They have pickles! Order at the counter and seat yourself. They have a good variety of burgers and shakes. Employees working the cash register and bar are amazing. Kinda loud atmosphere but fun place to hang before a concert. Big tex needed more guac. And we got tons of chipotle ranch even after we asked for only regular.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon before one of the football playoff games. Staff was less than enthusiastic to be there or to serve customers. It was as if customers were a bother when they wanted to order something. The burgers and onion straws were good as always and who doesn't love self serve free pickles! Maybe it was just an off day for the staff early on a Sunday. Will go back but likely just for take out.

Lots of shroom burger and onion straws
      Free flavored pickles!

Best burger and shake I've ever had. The setting was nice and your ticket (name called when your order is ready) is a true flash back to the 80's. The soda machine has hand crafted drinks made with sugar. Excellent service, and as I said to begin, THE BEST BURGER AND SHAKE I'VE EVER HAD.

The vegan burger and fries are amazing and taste delicious, The only downside is that It literally falls apart every time i get it. I eat the most that i can with the bun and eat the rest of the quinoa and beans with a spoon. It's still delicious. I love soggy fries and that is what i got. If you don't like vegan burgers falling apart and soggy fries, this isn't your place. If it is it's perfect.

Had minimal service and didn't stay since it was a to go order

I'm not a big fast food junkie... although I love a good burger. I've been a Twisted Root Fan for years now but the location close to where I lived closed.

Not your average burger joint because they have unique and exotic meats as well as your typical plain beef.

Some meats that I've had are Camel, Ostrich, Bison, Elk, Emu, and TONIGHT I tried antelope... and it was AWESOME!

Grab a real sugar soda or a cocktail, and if you're not into meat, grab a side or two and enjoy ENDLESS pickles! Dill, Sweet & Hot, Atomic, Ranch, and Bread & Butter!
      No, I didn't stutter...Pickles ARE Endless!!!

The bathrooms are pretty fun, too.

There is a hand washing sign you need to read... and I didn't take a pic, so you just have to go to read it. (Pick #8)

Prompting lunch date with the girls and it was definitely worth the time and money.

The associates were super friendly and helpful in what to order, my food was piping hot! And fresh and I absolutely loved my sandwich it was not too much!

There are free pickles in many flavors so I got some and enjoyed it a little too much.

The building was nice and clean and it wasn't too packed so my friends and I were able to enjoy each other

One of the best burgers I've ever had !!!! They even have a self serve pickle bar with different flavor pickles. They also have a full bar. Fries are really good too. Highly recommend if you are in Dallas.
