About the Business
TWIST is the direct result of the deep connection owners Paul Schneider, Lauren Eulau and Cullen Tavelli have with the professional artist and designer. From Paul and Lauren's prior incarnations as a potter and weaver who sold their art for a living, to creating a visual landscape of finely chosen pieces, they have built an ever-changing collection of fine design and wearable art. The relationships we have with each individual artist and designer have become rich with sharing, regular interactions and mutual respect. For over 20 years TWIST Seattle has been known as a destination for one-of-a-kind artisan wedding rings, artist and designer made jewelry and beautiful objects. The diverse community of tech, fashion and industry that surrounds the TWIST Seattle store makes it one of the most hip and exciting places to shop. TWIST Portland and TWISTonline live in Portland, Oregon where the vibrant, creative atmosphere has provided a home for companies such as NIKE, adidas usa and the renowned ad firm Wieden + Kennedy. It is also the scenic canvas for one of America's most active farm to table food cultures, a cutting edge music scene and a well established and flourishing arts community.

Walked in with my wife to browse for necklace options. The woman that greeted us asked what we were looking for and promptly told us that their items were pretty expensive (precious metals, precious and semi-precious gemstones). This was before she even knew our budget or how much we wanted to spend. We were not dressed like we were going to spend big $$, but you never know who you're talking to in Seattle. Had flashbacks from that scene in Pretty Woman, and was completely turned off by that vibe.

I fell in love with Twist when I first discovered this adorable, magical shop in Portland. So whenever I happen to be at UVillage, I honestly can't help myself, I just have to pop into Twist. Mostly to look...but also secretly hoping to find something special that speaks to me. This past week, as luck would have it, I was a touch early for HH with a friend, and I figured, just a quick peek. I've been drawn to Jill Platner pieces before, so maybe not by chance, I slowed when I spotted her signature necklaces--simple, silver pendants on durable, black waterproof strings with fin-like clasps. Dale was so kind, asked if I wanted to try one on...heck, why not? So I did and loved it. I've been looking for something special to remind me of someone very dear to me. Truthfully, I'm not someone to be impulsive and buy jewelry for myself, so I asked to think about it and come back after seeing my friend. Well, time got the best of us, so I missed returning before closing. When I got home, maybe like art, jewelry, too, can linger in our thoughts if it's just the right piece. So, I called the store and left Dale a VM asking if there may be a chance to buy over the phone and have the necklace mailed to me. The next day...ack, when I was driving, Cullen called me back, but since I can't do two things at once and not crash, I asked to call him back later. Again, time got the best of me, so I called Twist back, a bit before closing time, but the gal who answered wasn't able to find the necklace. I felt for sure that maybe it wasn't meant to be...but the next day, I was pleasantly surprised when Cullen called and offered to mail me the piece. Wow. So when I received the package in the mail, beautifully wrapped, the next day, I had no regrets. It was perfect. Thank you, Dale and Cullen, for exemplifying such amazing customer service...reminding me why I love Twist so much.

This place is amazing!!! Jill was so knowable and helpful. I went in for one piece and ended up getting something better. I'm so happy with my bracelet. We entered TWIST and right away we felt welcomed. Thanks for making our experience a joy.

My wife and daughter were out shopping today and stopped in at Twist to see some of the latest jewelry. Susan made this a very enjoyable experience by taking time to show them a number of pieces and sharing her knowledge of the artists who made them. Her patience and pleasant conversation made their day!

Ok they have unique, artsy, jewelry...but usually not much info about the quality of stones, pearls, etc. So, if you're looking for something certified don't go here.
BUT...if you're a feminine woman (long hair, curvy body, etc) and you want to be greeted with "Hey Fellas!" then this is your place!! I don't know if the lady working was high (?) or being completely rude on purpose, but it was really not cool.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michael J.Seattle, WA061Nov 1, 2019
This store has such a fun and eclectic selection of jewelry. The last time we visited Dale was super helpful and was happy to show us anything we wanted to see. They even have a section of single earrings! We ended up getting a Maria Tash opal spike earring and my wife loves wearing it. Thanks again and I'm sure we'll be stopping in soon to find more treasures!

I've been scoping the beautiful jewelry at Twist for years. I now live in Chicago, but when it came time to find a wedding ring I knew Twist would be my go-to. After trolling their collection online, I worked with Joe to find juuust the right ring. He was so helpful and courteous throughout the process. Joe made it easy to make a tough decision from far away. Thank you, Joe!
If you want jewelry that is, at its essence, wearable artwork, check out Twist.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Heather R.Palm Springs, CA291865Jul 23, 2016Updated review
The owner contacted me after my last review to explain: the night I was in TWIST, they were training a new employee by having him shadow the jeweler showing me pieces. Sans explanation, this weirded me out; I've gotten close to the Mona Lisa with less body detail. Put in context, it makes total sense and I'm glad they're going to forewarn the awkward away from future customers.
The owner is a peach and an unfortunate-for-my-financial-future consequence of this is that I discovered TWIST online, their online shop. It's like etsy, but all the independently designed jewelry is curated and actually worth buying. Plus the owner knows the designers, metals, relative hardiness of the settings, etc very well. If I had disposable income (that I hadn't already, uh, disposed of) I'd be going here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 20, 2016Previous reviewI had such a different experience than these reviewers! The woman working that night showed me pendants out of several cases but the man kept obvious, close physical security on me while she did. He was standing right beside me, closer than arm's reach, for no sales reason and followed us for no sales reason. I buy jewelry regularly (they recognized the designer of my jewelry, even) and this was unusual and uncomfortable. I had been considering a splurge on a fresh water pearl necklace but I left quickly with the sense I was causing them unease by being the only customer in their store.
