I found Total Reclaim, Inc. when I called Portland's Metro Recycling at (503) 234-3000, and asked where I could drop-off a bunch of block Styrofoam packing material that my curbside pick-up wouldn't take.
I wanted to find someplace that wasn't going to just landfill the stuff. The number Yelp was originally showing was just a number which forwarded to Total Reclaim's Seattle facility but, Portland's Metro Recycling hot-line had the latest info. on Total Reclaim's Portland location.
I dropped my Styrofoam at Total Reclaim's drop-off site at 5805 NE Columbia Blvd, two blocks west of NE 60th, and on the north side of Columbia Blvd. Their local phone number is 503-281-1899.
Total Reclaim, Inc. accepts all sorts of stuff (computers, home and office electronics, TVs, stereo gear, even some appliances, you name it!) and it all gets 'reclaimed' so none of it ends up in any landfills.
So, you can do-the-right-thing, and get rid of that garage full of electronics, appliances, plastics, styrofoam, and fluorescents, all with a short trip to NE Columbia Blvd.!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sara S.Portland, OR38160182Mar 5, 2011
Styrofoam blocks are only entertaining for so long before "Let's make another tower!" turns into "When are you dumping this?"
Enter Total Reclaim: The easy eco-friendly alternative to ditching your unconventional recyclables at the dump.
I stuffed my trunk and back seat full of Styrofoam blocks, and made a quick trip over to Total Reclaim.
For a mere $5 I was finally rid of a ridiculous amount Styrofoam.
$5 is a clear bargain compared to the $10 minimum charge at the dump.
And, in my book, recycling trumps wastefulness any day.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nancy G.Lake Oswego, OR048Mar 29, 2014
We loaded up a rental truck with our old computers and printers, lighting ballasts, etc, and called on a Saturday during drop off times for directions and address.
They were CLOSED due to rain! Uhm, This is Portland Oregon fellas ! And this rain is Really Normal rain. Winds are minor. Warm weather. C'mon!! Closed due to rain is a pretty lame business move. We had to find a recycler as Im not paying for another days rental on the van. We found a Very accomodating one downtown on macadam who Also helped us unloadl Cudos to a Portland based business for
not melting in the rain! And Bogus points to the seattle company for closing due
to Normal Portland weather. That is completely Lame and we Will NOT be back.
Portland is all about word of mouth in this little city and a business needs to be on its game. What other business would close due to rain, in Portland???Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
