I got a few small tattoos from Ray. He was nice enough, but he didn't disinfect my skin before starting, which I've never experienced before (and I have lots of tattoos), so they didn't heal super well. The one on my arm didn't come out nicely at all (the lines are wobbly and the shading looks amateurish), and considering the final quality I feel like I was way overcharged. I reached out to him to see if I could schedule a touch up, which he'd offered to do during my appointment, and he never responded--so now I'm paying another artist to basically fix this tattoo. Also, when I went in, he and another male tattoo artist were shooting the shit in a way that made me sort of uncomfortable as the only woman in the room (and they didn't stop at any point, considering how it might make a customer feel). Overall, just weird and unprofessional vibes from this place and I wouldn't recommend them.

My sister and I got our first tattoos here on Sunday 3/28/21 by Mike who I think went by M.Y. (He never clearly gave us his name). As a first timer I expected some hospitality and understanding from him but instead had a very cold stand off-ish experience. We had submitted photos before arrival but upon checking in he needed them re-sent. No problem, We sent to his iPad. He then took us to the back with the stencils and only had one image but we were getting different designs. We corrected the images and made the new print and placed it on in blue ink only. There were three colors in the design so the assumption was he was going to use color where the picture designated but didn't add to the stencil. We asked about adding white when he was finishing it and he said it would yellow over time so didn't want to add that. (Would have been nice to know up front or get a suggestion about how to get it as close to the image as possible.) My sister instantly felt it was not what she asked for but didn't feel comfortable to really talk it out with him based on his rushed vibe.

My design was in black and white and came out close to the image, so I know he could have done better on the other one.

After sleeping on it, I texted him the next day about the color one and how to fix it and clarify why he didn't add all colors from the image and he didn't respond at all, even though upon departure he said reach out for any questions. Customer service severely lacking from this artist and now need to find a good place to fix this tattoo.

Jonny Mac proved that he is the best in Albuquerque once again with a one of a kind master piece on my chest. It even caught th attention is Steven Tefft when I had him do the other side of my chest. His imagination and ability to bring ink to life is truly unbelievable. Once I had him touch me there is no going back to just any tattoo artist for me- only the best. Welcome to the Death Star!

      Jonny Mac is the illest!

Have your design ready before you come thru!!! Lots of artwork in the design books located atop the surfboard/table, but it can be confusing & time consuming (as you peruse the designs).

One of few places in the area that takes walk-in clients. Seem strange to me, consider the overwhelming number of tattoo parlors & number of tatted up folks, but hey that's the law of the land. At any rate, I journeyed in to get a tattoo & was appointed to Abe to get me inked up. He did a good job & I must admit although there's a needle carving in my skin, he was gentle enough & allowed me time to make the adjustments for the pain. I was very tense, but his gentle hands helped me to relax during the process; he had a borderline sensuous touch that, ehhhhhhh ok I'll keep it clean, that made relaxing much easier.

Seems like they charge more by the hour & not necessary the size of the tattoo, as is in some other places; go figure, tomato, tomato.

After the art work was completed, there was a minor adjustment to be made, but that was done a week later to allow for scarring etc. But once that issue was corrected, all was good in the hood.

They made the whole tattoo experience smooth and exciting. Jennifer was amazing and not only created my tattoo, she text me a pic prior to me coming in to make sure I liked it. The day of the tattoo, she talked to me why I was getting the tattoo and really took into consideration the story behind the tattoo. The atmosphere is laid back and be prepared to see a lot of eclectic decorations and original art. It's laid back and they even have a little dog that walks around to greet you! I love my tattoo and if you are looking an awesome team go het inked ant Tinta Cantina!!

This shop is top shelf. And to be fair, I'm referring to Johnny Mac. I have traveled to New Mexico to have him tattoo me...TWICE. He is insanely talented. Both times, I have given him ideas of what I wanted and he's just run with them and made them his own. He's the kind of artist you can trust to do that and that's HUGE. He works quickly and professionally. On top of all of that, he's a rad dude. He makes the whole process such a positive experience. He takes the time to understand exactly what you are looking for and then delivers it with such care. It truly is amazing to watch him work and reveal the vision in his head on your skin. He's a busy cat so make sure you book early for your appointment.

I drove out here from California for one reason and one reason only; JohnnyMac. If you can get into Johnny's chair and get a tattoo from this man, you will never regret it. He is a true artist. Johnny makes the whole experience of receiving a tattoo almost painless because on top of being a phenomenal artist, he is also an enjoyable person!
The whole shop has a family vibe to it. Everyone I encountered was very friendly and welcoming. Even if you can't get a piece done by Johnny himself, you should definitely get your next tattoo or piercing done at Tinta Cantina! Every tattoo that I saw whilst there was skillfully executed and done with care. This establishment is one of the few I have encountered that has such a high density of talent. I would 100% recommend checking this place out for your next artistic addition to your life!
