We were coming down to Lake Charles for a friend's birthday. We were planning some drinking and gambling...we ended up just gambling. But, we did want to have some drinks set up just in case. We were looking for some basic liquor, but we forgot in LA, everywhere sells liquor. So this place had mainly wine and higher end liquor. I was able to snag up a bottle of Hibiki Harmony for 60+ tax. It is currently sold out all over town in Houston. They were also very nice and sent us to the gas station down the road which had a wide variety of the basic stuff.

My husband and I came here at the suggestion from another wine tasting we were at. We are SO glad that we did, we wish we would have found The Wine Store much sooner!!! Very cute atmosphere with plenty of cheeses, jams, beer, and wine related items as well as the wine. They have a smaller (but great) selection of wine, however will order pretty much anything you'd like. The Thursday wine tasting was great, we tried about 7 wines and you could buy or order them for a discounted price. The owner(?) ran out of 2 of our favorites Thursday so we couldn't buy them but we came back the next day and he still honored the discount. Definitely did not have to do that, and it was very much appreciated. Everyone was so friendly, from the employees to the patrons that we could tell were regulars. It's just very welcoming, you feel like the employees genuinely are happy that you are there and want to get to know you. It's a great feeling that will keep us coming back even though we live an hour away. We can't wait to come back and try a cheese board!

Great place, great selections, great people. From moderately priced to exorbitant, The Wine Store has it. The staff is knowledge in a relatable way, and they keep track of your purchases so you can come in later and say, " I really liked this Italian Pinot I got here for Christmas last year" and they can look it up for you. What's better than that?

Very friendly and helpful store owners. Their recommendations are right on. Wine tasting on Thursdays is always fun. Only wish they had a wine bar.
