Well, it's been sometime since I was here at The Wine Shop! It still has the same good quality food and delicious large selection of wine. Had a Flatbread - The Sausage one, delicious and my friend Had the Margarita one. Service was a little slow, but the wine I ordered helped. It was Smashberry a wonderful red blend ! Come out and try it ! Also order the Truffle Fries - scrumptious!

Jon Sheesley , the Manager had talked with me a couple of times over the last three months and helped me plan and execute the MOST fantastic shower! . We also had a waiter who was so helpful and knowledgeable - Rich Williams ( I would ask for him if you were in the restaurant. The food was fantastic, we had Crab Cakes, Tuna Tartare in little Cones, Flatbreads, Brushettas, and Calamari! We were allowed to decorate the tables and bring in our own added touches. I would highly recommend this for any event you would need a private room for. They can hold up to 35 or 40, we had 26 and were quite comfortable. It is consistently good as a wine shop and now we know its great as a private venue also!! Kudo's to Jon and Rich!!

Love this spot! Great wine selection! A little overpriced and service lacks professionalism. Food is a little inflated in description and pricing.

We have been going to this location since we had our house built in 2014. It was great for many years, then had a change in management which was not good, but has consistently been GREAT for the past 1-2 years with the new manager, hostesses, and wait staff. The food is excellent! In addition to the excellent wine, we have never been disappointed with the salmon or the mahi-mahi. The wait staff is very attentive (Nikki is excellent- gives great recommendations on wine & timing of food). It has a great atmosphere with high top & low top tables. Nice music in background not too loud and very enjoyable. We also watch health scores and under the "new" management they have been high.

Another worker walked through restaurant with no mask into manager's office so we will not be back until COVID-19 is under control.
Jul 26, 2015Previous reviewGreat variety of food & wine. Their shrimp & grits are wonderful-fried grit cake instead of creamy grits. Staff is always friendly & attentive.

Great spot to shop, eat and drink. Check their Facebook for specials.
They are now open (again) for lunch. They have a great wine selection, as well as beers and cider.
We love their blackened salmon and mahi mahi tacos. My friend also loves their flatbreads.
Truffle fries for the win!
Today I had yummy tomato and red pepper bisque and the fried goat cheese and apples salad. They also have gluten free pasta available.
Yummy dessert options include flourless chocolate cake.
Staff is kind and always enjoy my time here.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Dec 4, 2018Previous reviewDelicious food. Servers are friendly, but it's not expedient, but then again, who needs quick service when you are drinking delicious wine?
They have great lunch specials, lots of wine, beer and cider on draft too and great desserts. Lots of gluten free options too.
I always enjoy it when I eat here. - Christina M.Christiansburg, VA2173144Oct 4, 2023
I really love this place!!! I've sat both inside and at the outside tables on nice days and love to have both options. The food is delicious! My favorite so far is the steak and goat cheese sandwich, which I usually get in a wrap. There's a wide variety of options from classic dishes to flatbread to sandwiches, and of course wine . The staff here are amazing and super friendly. I've had questions on what I can customize and they're always willing to answer and talk them through. My husband is a professional chef and this is one of his favorite spots to eat as well!

The Wine Shop was built in RiverGate a few years after my husband and I purchased our house in The Crossings in 2006 located about 1.5 miles from RiverGate.
My husband and I went there often after it opened (I believe 2008) and for the most part enjoyed the quaintness of it, above average food, the better selection of wine, listening to Peaches on a Thursday evening and the close proximity from our house.
The food has always leaned toward being "creatively above par" due to quality ingredients and skills of the Chef.
My husband passed in 2017.
I recently felt isolated in my home of 17 years; yet, I didn't like eating out alone.
I decided to get out and become social again; so, I went to The Wine Shop and sat at the bar as a widowed senior woman to enjoy the food, wine and social aspect with people in my community.
I have been enjoying red wine over the fall/winter at home; but, decided to switch to a lighter wine for the summer as I try to become social again.
When I went back to The Wine Shop with my agenda stated above I did a tasting of white wines from Spain and France. Over a 3-4 day period I went there everyday, spending top dollar, tipping generously and experiencing mutual respect between me and the staff. I felt social again.
My positive experience was very short lived as a few evenings ago I went there expecting another enjoyable experience. I sat in the proximity of my usual barstool and expected the usual quality treatment.
I picked out another white wine from Spain and asked for a taste. The taste was alright and I agreed to having a bottle.
When the server brought the bottle I immediately noticed the bottle was larger than the quality bottles I had previously tried and it was Rosé.
I told the server it was not what I ordered and she said, "Yes it is". I emphatically said, "No, it's not. Why are you switching wines on me?
The manager overheard our conversation and said she told the server to switch the wine.
The manager said, "I don't think it's that big of a deal" and slapped down her bar mop. She said, "Do you expect me to tell you ever time I switch out wines".
I said, "As a paying customer, I think it's a big deal and Yes, I expect you to tell me."
I got up and left to find a substitute place to have dinner until The Wine Shop in my community gets a more qualified, professional, customer oriented Manager with the knowledge and appreciation for fine wines.
After all, it is "The Wine Shop". Please don't embarrass me and my community by hiring a Manager who thinks a selection of wine is "Not A Big Deal".
My wait won't be long.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Joey E.Manhattan, New York, NY042Sep 10, 2023
Derek was a great server- Attentive and knowledgeable. The food and wine were DELICIOUS!! We didn't have a reservation and almost had to plead with the woman at the host stand to let us dine in the practically empty restaurant. It was early and luckily she had a cancellation. We would go back for sure.
