Q:
Is there a separate lunch menu or is it the same as the dinner menu?
A:
During the week yes they do but you can order off the regular menu also. Special items are created for lunch or different size portions.

It says you offer gluten free options. Do you have gluten free bread alternatives? Or just entrees that can be prepared gluten free?
A:
Hi Kate! We currently do not have any GF bread options. We do make GF pasta and pizza. Hope this helps!… more

10/10 would recommend. The ambiance was so cool and neat. There were pictures on the ceiling, a beautiful outdoor patio that had its own charm and character.
The service was fantastic. Food came quickly. And the server provided wonderful suggestions. He was super friendly and fun.
The fooood = fantastic. Big portions. We got the chili cheese wontons and i could have eaten the entire appetizer myself. It was sooo delicious and a MUST HAVE! For my entree I ordered fish tacos, and i loved the fact that they weren't skimpy on the fish! I was able to substitute the chips with fries which I certainly am happy I did. Fries were even wonderful!
I will say - it is pretty expensive! For just one person = appetizer, entree and water to drink, it cost me almost $50.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 11136247Apr 28, 2024
Decided to do lunch here. I had my taste buds set on the fried chicken but didn't realize the lunch menu was different from the dinner menu so I instead tried the Corned Beef.
I have been here 3 days in the last week and each time the service experience was different. Overall no big complaints but nothing to rave about.
I think my best experience was when I sat at the bar. I ate shrimp and grits and had a sweet heat something cocktail.
My husband tried the Fried Chicken and it was great. Corned beef was delish too.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marco P.Nob Hill, San Francisco, CA43346Jan 21, 2024
I was debating to give you a good review because I really don't want more people showing at this gem of a restaurant. But they sure do deserve it.
Great ambience, I feel like I am in Tahoe, and amazing food at a very reasonable price: the biscuit and gravy is great; the Reuben sandwich is phenomenal.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Dec 26, 2023
Such a beautiful restaurant in Louisville's luxurious Anchorage region! The ceiling is even decorated with framed artwork! The restroom decor is so homey & rustic.
As to the food- delicious!
Hot tea service rounded out the delicious breakfast! The blue cheese biscuit was delightful. I'm a picky scrambled eggs person- as I love homemade everything. These scrambled eggs were the real deal, not some kind of eggbeaters sheet. Bravo to The Village Anchor!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 27, 2023
What a hidden gem this place is!!
This is a two story restaurant. Upscale and calmer upstairs area with a "speakeasy" bar/restaurant downstairs called "The Sea Hag"
Two Outside patios as well. All places equally fun and well staffed.
Our drinks were super tasty and the food, fresh, hot and served quickly!
Both levels have an old world charm, reflective of high quality and class in decor and ambiance from long ago.
Absolutely one of my top 5 favorites in Louisville!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 19312651343Oct 22, 2023Updated review
The Village Anchor remains a solid restaurant experience in a unique and inviting setting.
My most recent visit was for a double date night, and the setting proved perfect. Seated next to the roaring fire, we caught up over the several courses that we ordered. First up was the green chili wontons, which we all shared around. This is a staple at a number of local restaurants and did not disappoint here.
For my entree, I perseverated on a couple of options and finally went with the shrimp and grits. It was good, but I was a little disappointed by the portion size for the price. Too much fried okra was there as filler. I had ordered a mocktail to accompany - not something on the menu, but the bartender whipped it up specially at my request. It reminded me of a strawberry lemonade and was served in a nice glass so I didn't feel like a kid at the grownups table.
Our server took care of us, but I think she may have been stretched a bit thin because at a time or two I couldn't find her when I needed something. I don't fault her, it seems that many places are struggling at the moment to have good waitstaff. When she was with us, she was very present.
Overall we had a great time and this was the perfect place to catch up, just a bit more pricey than any of us remembered.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Oct 12, 2014Previous reviewI recently visited the Village Anchor for the second time, and realized I'd never reviewed it after my first visit -- Elite fail! The silver lining is that I now have two different dining experiences to write about.
My first visit was an early Saturday lunch. I was there with one other friend, and we enjoyed a quiet meal on the patio. Service was fast, and every bite of the food was perfect. On that visit, I got the House Salad and the Pulled Pork Soup. The ingredients were fresh, every bite was flavorful, and textures -- from the crisp crunch of the bacon and the lettuce to the smooth pulled pork -- hit just the right note.
The most recent visit was an evening meal. We specifically visited that night as part of a fundraiser for nearby Summit Academy. I was with a larger party then, and the entire restaurant was alive with conversation, the tinkling of cutlery, and the wonderful aromas of great food. This meal started out with the spicy beef skewers and a side of spicy peanut sauce. Split between the table at this particular meal, this could easily be a delicious entree for one -- note to self for my next visit.
Side note on this dish: there were cherry tomatoes served with skewers just as garnish, and I don't think I'm exaggerating to say they were the best cherry tomatoes I've ever had in my life. One bite and I was raving to the table (who initially made fun of me, until they tasted them as well). We actually liked them so much that we asked for a few more so everyone at the table could try (5 of us, only 3 tomatoes). Our cheerful and fabulous server Kelly actually got us a small ramekin of them so we could all enjoy some more.
Next up was my entree: this time the French Onion Soup and the Wedge Salad (I'm a soup and salad kind of girl . . . for me, this never gets old!) Again, fresh flavors exploded in the soup, with just the right amount of onions, hearty brothy tang, soft sourdough crouton, and creamy gruyere over the top. This may just be the best bowl of French Onion Soup I've ever had, and definitely warrants ordering again! The Wedge Salad is part iceberg, part field greens. Covered again in crispy bacon pieces and served with sides of fresh cheese, it filled out the tiny spot I had left to enjoy something after my delicious French Onion Soup.
I tried a few bites of the Fish 'n Chips that my companions were eating . . . what's a great meal if you don't have friends who like to swap bites? First, you have got to try the Chips (or fries, if you get any other dish). From what I could tell they're seasoned with garlic, parsley, and parmesean and every bit delicious from each of those savory ingredients. Worth every darn calorie you'll be wasting on eating them! The Fish was flaky and had a buttery, mild flavor, all covered in a light but crispy batter to give it a satisfying "crunch".
I truly cannot wait for my next visit to the Village Anchor, and with specials every Tuesday, I know it won't be long before I make my way back to this harbor of great taste! - Nov 6, 2023
I visited The Village Anchor on 11/04/2023 at 12:30pm with a friend that lives in the area. I am from out of state.
What a charming, lovely and beautiful restaurant. It is located in the Anchorage area of the city. It is in a charming little "village" type area of shops and the building is beautiful both inside and out. They have a lovely outdoor patio; however, we opted to sit inside today.
Our server was very attentive, friendly and timely in everything that she did.
However, the food was just awesome. I had the meatloaf burger, which was a generous portion of meatloaf with sauteed onions, bacon, cheddar and an aioli. Yum! Instead of the regular fries, I replaced them with the sweet potato fries with marshmallow creme. This is not a thing where I am from; however, it is a thing here -- and it is downright delicious! Wow!
I had a great time, and would definitely return again the next time I visit Louisville.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Dec 2, 2023

Went to the Sea Hag (lower level) for $12 Tuesday. Includes a Entree & glass of wine or beer. Went at 5:30 and it was a 30 minute wait. You can tell they have some regulars. Server was friendly. Food was good but was advertised as a half rack of ribs (only received a quarter) and a full side of fries and baked beans (tiny cup of beans). The deal though is still good and tasted great.
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 23, 2020Previous reviewWent for a Sunday brunch for a girlfriends baby shower. They were very accommodating and our server Katye was awesome. Entrees are a little more pricey ranging from $16-$20. French Toast was wonderful. The blue cheese biscuits were great too. Great mimosa and cocktail deals for Sunday.
