DISAPPOINTED. My husband was craving Thai tonight, and despite the so-so Yelp reviewers, we ordered from here. Mainly because we used to really like it, but also because there aren't any other Thai places near us.
Price-wise it was fine - $26 for Pad Thai and an order of gyoza. But good-wise? We were both SO disappointed.
The portion of Pad Thai was way smaller than it used to be, and they used the big noodles typically used in Drunken Noodle. It also had ZERO peanuts and basically no flavor. The gyozas were teeny and somewhat burned on the bottom.
I'm really sad, because I've met the owner, who is a really nice man, and I want to support the business. But the food was so disappointing, we will not be ordering from here again. I gave it 2 stars, rather than 1, because it was edible and we both ate everything. But I'm still super hungry and upset at how lackluster it was.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello Jenn !First of all thank you for being honest with us !We appreciate your feedback and very sorry that you;ve had not a good time eating our food! At that moment we had very complicated chefs at the kitchen and could't properly adjust their cooking skills. However it was no more than one month.Right now we have completely changed our kitchen stuff and quality control is in a good level. We would like to offer you a special discount for the next take out or dine in! Thanks again for the respond and hope to serve you again!
Nov 27, 2015Previous reviewThis is the 3rd time we've ordered from there - each time with a different couple or family member - and we've always loved it. We always get chicken pad Thai and chicken satay (which they forgot on the most recent time). We recently got the Mongolian beef and the Rice Barn ribs. Everything was really tasty, although the portions seemed smaller than I remember. I've only ever done take-out, but would like to try dining in at some point. Somehow, the food was not that hot when we ate it, even though we waited for it when picking it up...
The forgotten satay showed that they have fantastic service. They were ridiculously busy, which is why they forgot part of our order. When we called about it, they apologized and refunded it - and gave us a decent discount off the rest of the order!! That definitely makes up for it in my book.Dec 22, 2014Previous reviewWe ordered takeout from the Rice Barn on a Saturday night. Since they don't deliver (hence the 4, not 5 stars), my husband ran out to get it.
For 4 people, we got 2 orders of Chicken Pad Thai, 1 Ginger Chicken, 1 order of Gyozas and an order of Spring Rolls. We had almost nothing left! Just 1 spring roll and enough Pad Thai and a bit of Ginger Chicken for 1 more meal.
We've eaten at a lot of Thai places and are somewhat picky, as we like our Pad Thai and we like it in a specific way. And we loved this Pad Thai! The spring rolls were crispy, the gyozas were flavorful and the Ginger Chicken was delish! This is definitely our new favorite Thai place.
When placing the order, I had asked if we could have limes with the Pad Thai and she said she'd have to check. I said "it's ok, no worries." And then limes came (in a separate container - nice detail) with the order!
I don't know the price, as my husband paid when he picked it up, but we got a ton of GOOD food, so I think it was worth it. :) - Nicole S.Boston, MA22321Apr 3, 2022
We love the rice barn. The green curry is the best around. We have enjoyed everything we have ordered. The owner is wonder And delivery is always fast.

Really disappointed. Lunch boxes here are a joke. It's clear that this is a restaurant pretending to do fusion in order to set premium prices. I ordered a couple of different lunch boxes and they all tasted the same: too salty and ridiculously small when they are charging $17/box. I would post a pic of my vomit if I could . Rich Barn, you need to fire your chef

Tried stopping by for lunch today, only to be greeted by a sign on the door that the restaurant has been shut down due to ongoing health code violations. Very disappointed to see this. They've been a favorite for a long time, but no more...

We had dinner here and the food was tasty. The duck served in the green curry was delicious and my young daughters enjoyed the PadC-U with chicken. The service staff and owner were both friendly. It's clear after taking with the owner that he has a passion for his Thai culture and food.

Gloppy pad Thai, weak too-creamy curry and a very strangely put together Beef Salad that was basically just hunks of meat on top of boring old iceberg lettuce with a few measly pepper slices thrown in. Outrageously priced on top of it. Stay away from this place.

What has happened at Rice Barn? Food has slightly changed, prices are up ($10+ appetizers and salads) and service is slow. Take out takes over an hour.
The food is mostly still good and it's a great setting but the service and prices are making it a hard argument to go back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Jul 29, 2016Previous reviewFood and service is top notch here at Rice Barn. Fusion menu scares me sometimes....you can find that the restaurant does nothing really good. Not the case here. The food is excellent. The curry dishes are deep with flavor and spice. The thai soups hit the mark. The dumplings are light and delicious. They have fantastic noodle dish options.
Great location too in downtown Dedham, plenty of street and lot parking. Big fan. - Dana A.Nashua, NH084Dec 17, 2021
This place is also Thai Ai Ai on Uber eats. Do not place an order from Thai Ai Ai. They will refuse service if you use Uber eats. You will not receive your money back for up to ten days. Take your restaurant off these apps if you will refuse service. This can affect people's money.
