It takes awhile to get your dog in but so far it's been great. My dog is alittle neurotic and the staff is Very patient with him. Always clean and professional.

Granted I haven't worked at the Guilford day care and worked at the metro pooch where it started in North Branford. It's awful, absolutely awful, the owner pays off dog bites so they don't make insurance, the culture is worse then a truck stop, I haven't worked there in 4 years and her and her employees degrade me to my prospective employers with complete lies of my work ethic and success. Her "metro pooch dog mix" is just other dogs left over food their parents brought. Her former employees who are still allowed in the building "broke broom sticks over dogs backs" and use "roping tricks". She was constantly complaining about money and she should be rich with life long employees by now that do their job. The owner can't handle a pack, she was never there, if she was she was just smoking cigs out back and throwing them over the fence. The best employees were bullied and are never given credit because she's too busy paying off incompetent employees mistakes. I have worked for her for over a year, with a perfect safety record, attendance, and better cleaning practices. Cleaner labels were not discussed, and "we've been doing this" trumped labels that say "remove all animals from the building before use".

I took a personal day because I woke up to a message at 6 am that was sent past midnight saying im not getting paid as usual and she'd give me cash sometime that day, I took a personal day and she fired me. I got unemployment and could of quit and got unemployment.

This business destroyed my successful career with dogs, along with other hurtful slander in my personal life. dont go here.

The trainer was good for a meet and greet and suggested a home training. She did not tell us it would be $150 for 45 minutes. We were shocked when we saw this charged to our account. There's nothing with prices in the website.

      Updated review

Beware of having your dog "age out" of the boarding service. After going to Metro Pooch for at least 10 years (4-5 times a year), I was recently told that my dog was no longer welcome, and it was in her best interest to find another place to go or to get home care. No warning or inclination whatsoever. I was shocked. Everyone there "loved my dog". Yes, my dog is old (15 years), and her hearing and eyesight aren't the best, and, yes, she sleeps very soundly at times, but I find it hard to believe that it is in her best interest to adapt to a new boarding situation, whether it be at home or in another facility. Really, changing her routine like that is in her best interest? I hate writing this review, and you can probably look back and find a 5 star review I've written about Metro Pooch, but I thought other dog owners of aging dogs should know.

I couldn't of asked for a CLEANER, NICER or more FRIENDLY place to leave my pup, Tucker. To put it simply, Tucker never wants to leave The Metro Pooch when his boarding stay is over!

THANK YOU to the entire staff for their dedication to the wellbeing and happiness of all the pets in their care.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I just had the most horrific service here. I booked my dog for grooming six weeks ago, told the woman I would drop off after 9am as I had to drop my kids at daycare. I arrived at 9:13 and as I was parking they called to say they couldn't take my dog as their kennels were full and they had no bath to see my dog, and the next appointment they could give me was September 6th. She did not apologise, or say sorry, but said simply to go home. I'm not the type of person to scream or shout, but I do want to warn other people not to take their pets here, as a booked appointment is no guarantee that you will be seen.

Our rescue pup is very cautious and skittish with new people and places, although he loves playing with other dogs. We eased him into coming to Metro Pooch, and now it's his absolute favorite place. All the employees know and love him, and his regular visits have improved his confidence both at Metro Pooch and in other social interactions. I can't say enough great things about them for boarding, grooming and daycare - beautiful facilities, a caring staff, and reasonable prices. I can't imagine bringing him anywhere else.

      Hotel/daycare:
There is truly no better place to leave your pup. Prices are fair, facilities are clean, and staff here treats your dog like family. The owners of this place clearly don't think of the Metro Pooch as just a way to generate revenue- it's a passion for them. On more than one occasion I've come to pick my dog up to find him cuddling with a staff member. BONUS: You can watch your dog play and socialize on a live cam if you ever get worried about him/her.

      Grooming:
I WILL NEVER GO TO ANOTHER GROOMER. I can't tell you now many times I've given a groomer a photo of my dog and they still fail to give me what I want. I've never had that problem here. My dog walks in looking like a grimlin and somehow the groomer turns him into a straight up puppy model. Perfect cut every time. Bring in a photo of how you want your pup to look and she can make it happen. I've never been disappointed.

Wow. I just walked through their new facility and I'm blown away. My pups have been going to the old facility in Branford for two years and they love the staff. They can't wait to get out of the car... but this new facility is amazing. I just dropped my pups off this morning and as usual they were excited to see their friends, furry and two legged.
Same wonderful, loving, attentive staff, in a beautiful new building. You must check it out, you'll want to stay!!

We will only board our dogs with Metro Pooch. They have been our choice since the day they opened. When away we check in a few times a day to see what the pups are up to and our kids usually add commentary!
They accommodate any medications that need to be given and run a super clean facility. Kristen knows each dog that goes there and cares for each dog that enters the facility.
Can't wait for the new facility to be completed!!!!
