About the Business
The Inn Between Restaurant was opened in May 1972. Before that time the Munro Home, as it was originally known, had changed hands at least five times when it was taken over by the present owners. This site was the manor house of the Munro family whose ancestry dates back to Scotland. The house was the hub of all activities during the day and yet offered a restful haven in the evening after a hard days work in the fields. Thomas Hill Munro built his home in 1880 shortly after his marriage to Nellie Brown in 1875. The land on which the house was built was part of a farm owned by his father David Allen Munro. The Munro family is recognized as having a large role in the history of Onondaga County and in particular the Elbridge-Camillus area. In 1799, the same year that the Town of Camillus was formed, Squire Munro moved here from Cheshire, Mass. to work his newly acquired farm land. It stretched for 300 acres over rolling hills which were densely populated with trees. Squire Munro, a soldier in the revolutionary War, was one of four sons of John Munro. Another of the brothers arriving at that time was the grandfather of the fifth President of the United States, James Munro, who was in office from 1816 to 1824.

I had a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner here and I will be back, but I'll be honest, I wasn't excited about going here. I left so pleasantly surprised after a terrific experience.
So, the resteraunt is inside of an old house on a beautiful piece of farm land. It's clearly an older house, which I believe is historic. The inside was dated, but well maintained and very clean. By the end of the experience, I totally understood it. It was a vibe. It reminded me of resteraunts from the 90s, but everything was well maintained and again, very clean. The background music was an eclectic mix of 80s and 90s love songs (it was Valentines Day after all).
So, initially I was hesitant based on the menu. It was full of classic dining dishes. There was nothing modern or innovative. BUT they pull off the classics very well and reminded us just why the classics are the classics. Very well done, Chef.
We had the Beef Wellington, Lobster Bisque, French Onion Soup, the Calamari Special, a Baked Shrimp and Crab dish, and a Triple Chocolate Cake and Pecan Cheesecake. The main courses came with a salad, which we substituted for the Cesar Salad.
The soups were terrific. No complaints. Bold and full of flavor. They tasted exactly how they're supposed to taste.
The Calamari special was different. The Calamari was cut into strips. Lightly flash fried and seasoned well. It was paired with a unique sauce. I have to be honest, I don't remember what it was, but I really enjoyed it.
The main courses had a basic plating. Based on appearances, I would have said, "ehhhh." The dishes were however executed very well. The Beef Wellington was excellent. Chef Gordon Ramsey would have approved. The Baked Shrimp and Crab was good, the flavor was there, but the shrimp were just slightly over cooked...which is very easy to do, so I'm not going to knock them too hard on this. It wasn't enough to ruin the dish.
The Cesar Salad tasted exactly as it should. I would get it again.
As for the deserts, I really enjoyed both. The cheesecake was surprisingly light, which was great because after a heavier meal I wasn't sure I could do desert. The crust was made up of pecans. It was great. If you like pecans you will like this. Now the triple chocolate cake. Decadent. Death by chocolate. Loved it.
Lastly, I just want to touch on the service. Everyone was very friendly and professional - from coat check, to hostess, to our server (whose name I forgot!). Our server really helped make this a special night. Attentive, professional, and personable.
I'll def. be back. I want to take my parents here when they visit.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 18, 2023
This is a very rustic, older aesthetic. Not usually what I go for, but the service and food was above par. They take reservations, which is good because it's not that roomy inside. A bit loud. Staff are friendly and attentive. I tried the filet mignon with a martini. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. The filet meal was delicious. Expect to spend some money, but you're getting your dollar's worth.

The Inn between is in an old house surrounded by by trees and a big property
Service was impeccable.we were seated together. We were promptly served our drinks and appetizers. It was our 55th wedding anniversary anniversary and we had our daughter and son-in-law with us. My son-I-law had lamb it had roast duck with crispy skin on dressing and potatoes. My son in law had lamb chops . I don't remember what my daughter and wife got but they enjoyed it
I would go there again.

Our first dinner here was a positive experience. Our server was so friendly and welcoming. He recommended the calamari as an appetizer, and it was a good start to our meal. We also ordered the lobster bisque, and that was too salty for our liking. The rest of our meal was well seasoned and enjoyed thoroughly. Not pictured are their mixed drinks that were very tasty! Such a nice place to enjoy a quiet dinner.

Yum! This was a great meal. Everything I had was exceptional.
To start, I liked that they gave us fresh veggies with dip - better than filling up on bread :).
For appetizers, I'd definitely recommend the crab cakes. I'm pretty picky when it comes to crab cakes, but I couldn't stop eating these ones! The lobster bisque was also delicious.
For my entree, I had the chicken Oscar. All I can say is wow. The lemon hollandaise was so good. It was one of the best chicken dishes I've had in a while!
The service was the only thing that put a slight damper on the evening. Our waiter was too attentive...it felt like he was at our table every five minutes. Definitely appreciated the effort, but he interrupted a lot and by the end we were a little burned out.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Deborah G.Verona, NY2314Jul 31, 2021
First time visiting this establishment and wow it did not disappoint! Atmosphere was beautiful the meal was excellent from start to finish! Our waiter John was very good his recommendations were on point and greatly appreciated! Dessert was superb! I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. We actually arrived 20 minutes earlier than our reservation and the hostess was very accommodating. They space out each course very adequately you are not rushed or made to feel rushed we were able to sit and visit with friends and really enjoy the meal and company. An excellent meal with fantastic service!

My wife and I have not been to the Inn Between Restaurant in several years due to illness & the COVID outbreak. We went there on Saturday night 08/06/22 and were delighted to find and exceptional, clean, neat, organized and wonderful facility. We were greeted by a wonderful, kind & caring staff member and led to our private table for two... The table & settings were superb and fit for a king. Theresa was our server and she was professional and on point. She greeted us with a personable smile and welcoming attitude. After drinks were served we were offered a home made corn hush puppy sitting upon a fantastic sause and greens [free]. We then were served a bred tray with (4) different types of bread/rolls. My wife and I shared a shrimp cocktail and I must say, I have not seen shrimp this large in several years. The shrimp was done to perfection!. My wife ordered Prime Rib special and I ordered the Beef Wellington. We placed our orders and were NEVER rushed or felt uncomfortable as we ate our delicious salads. The main course was served and both were professionally prepared perfectly and the presentation was again fit for a King. The prices were reasonable for a high quality meal and I would NEVER hesitate suggesting anyone try the Inn Between out ASAP. I assure you, we will be back very soon. BRAVO Inn Between & a Special Bravo to our fantastic server Theresa. Paul & Coleen Clapper

First time at a fine dining like this. Two of us ate for $115 with tip. We had a lobster meal and a filet mignon with salad and an apple sauce for me a glass of Cabernet and a Pepsi. Dinner came with date nut bread and rolls with butter and fresh veggies. Dessert was chocolate cake slice and a creme brûlée.
I felt the meal was sadly only ok. Everyone at work raves about it. Call me crazy but I've had better steaks at far less fine dining. The mustard sauce I will say for my filet was very good. Tried it not sure I'd return to be honest but then again I don't normally go for the fancy food so I was out of my element. It was a birthday dinner. I did feel the menu was a tad scarce though. Not a single chicken meal. Just beef or seafood of some kind.
If you like fine dining try it I'm no expert but I will test my luck elsewhere.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 32161267Aug 23, 2015
This is my favorite restaurant in my hometown. You won't see a lot of reviews because the average age of the clientele is a tad bit older. Don't let the fact that this is not THE "hot spot" keep you from trying this. They have the best tasting food-EVERY course. It is fine dining (not in the snooty way) so we come here as a treat or to celebrate a milestone of some sort.
Every time I come I have to get the Tenderloin Medallions Neptune for my entree. You won't be sorry. I always say though get what you're in the mood for. They have awesome appetizers including their French onion soup (spot on) and my fave, clams casino. Their preparation is incredibly consistent. The salads are also extremely flavorful and well done. Believe it or not their desserts are awesome as well if you still have room (make the room).
Two more things to note: they start off with cold, fresh veggies & veggie dip. Also their butter and roles and/or date bread are delicious- don't skip. I like the date bread as a dessert.
Service is super friendly and warm. I love Lisa or John. I haven't had a bad server yet come to think of it.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
