A great dark old school Providence cocktail lounge ... awesome drinks and tremendous-unique ambience

Plenty of tasty drink options, comfortable seating, dark yet relaxing ambiance, Stylish interior, and friendly service. Great spot for couples.

Came here on the suggestion of ChatGPT so had fairly high expectations. The vibe is very dark without supportive lighting to really see anything unless you're seated at the bar itself or by the window. Bartender was nice enough and the drink options were fine-all pretty standard and taste-wise were normal fare. The most bothersome aspect, though, is the smell. The entire place has a strong musty odor of unclear origin.

Really cool atmosphere and amazing cocktails! We really enjoyed this place. The inside has a really cozy vibe with some interesting art and comfortable chairs. They also have outdoor seating. We were served quickly by a friendly bartender and the drinks were really tasty. We had the Flora Roja and the Black Manhattan. The pricing was very reasonable. Highly recommend if you're in the Federal Hill area!

This place is nice and dark and has good, cool vibes. It's a little loud for a sit down at a table place, but the chairs are really comfy.

The old fashion had a bunch of ice cubes, not one cube. Never seen that before, not that it matters that much. Old fashion was a 7/10.

Two people got the Garden Mule, one person gave it a 9/10 and the other gave it a 7/10. They both said it wasn't sweet. Only one of them had a Mule cup.

The Malbec wine was only a 6/10.

The service was good and the spot is cool. They have a cute little outdoor area.

One of my favorite cocktail bars in Providence! The prices are super reasonable, which is NO small thing in the midst of crazy inflation. I really enjoyed the flavor profile of the drinks I tasted, and felt like there was good breadth in options depending on what your preferences are. The ambiance inside is absolutely amazing. Great for a date night and totally transportive once you're inside. Highly recommend checking it out!

I adore the dim vintage romantic decor--sensual atmosphere for sure. Perfect cocktail bar for a date night or even somewhere to grab a bougie cocktail and read a book!

So it's not entirely the most "speakeasy" place I've ever been to... BUT.... It's vibey as all can be. It's a quaint little spot to go for if you want to the bartender to make you something warm, cozy, and STRONG. Very very VERY affordable pricing for what the market has to offer. It's a perfect spot to catch up with an old friend, maybe bring a first date? Or even just go to grab a quick drink. regardless, this place is pretty dang cool.

this weekend i visited the avery with the intention of having a drink after an incredible meal down the street at there there (a phenomenal burger institution!), however the high i was on from my wurst dog, was deflated upon entrance at the avery, as i attempted to have a friend take a photo of me from outside while i was inside. the bartender named karen, ironically, asked curtly "can i help you?" to which i responded, "sorry am i being asked to leave?" to which she retorted "yes." and thus i left. while i did understand venues may have a photo policy, which i can understand/respect, however this is no way to treat someone who has been, and had intended to be a customer that day. i entered the space with a fulfilled palette, and left with the most sour taste in my mouth. id like to give credit to the avery, as i've never had such a negative experience there, and if genuine attempts are made to ameliorate, im happy to take down this review, but this experience i find important for all venues in gentrified areas to be aware of how they treat people of color in particular, for the statement it makes about who's welcome in the space and who isn't, please do better, karen.

Cool Art Deco Bar.
We stopped year one Tuesday evening and it was a very chill, if not some what, dark atmosphere. They have a great cocktail list and the space - amazing tin ceiling tiles and stunning laser cuts at the bar - is super cool.
Great bar to relax for a date or small group gathering.
