I'm updating my review of this restaurant because our last visit was disappointing. We came for dinner on a Friday night. They sat us in a booth with a seat that had a cloth napkin on top of it because it was ripped. After asking to be moved, they forgot about us. The waiter came to serve other tables in that room and didn't bother giving us a drink menu. We waited and waited for him but he never came to our table. I guess they didn't have the staff to take care of everyone but they should've expected it on a Friday night and at least some degree of acknowledgment would have been nice. We used to love coming here but will have to find a new place. Too bad they became complacent.

Great restaurant. Food was delicious. Not overly syrup-y or heavy like some Thai food. Prices are fair and service excellent. I've been there several times and have never been disappointed.

Horrible service! The waitress sat us down quickly but took over an hour to serve us while everyone that came in afterwards starting eating before we even got our drinks. The food was overpriced and mediocre at best. This place was just horrible!

I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with the owner of the 9th Monarch when I called in three pick-up orders.
As a customer, I understand that small delays can occur, and waiting for a few minutes beyond the estimated time is usually tolerable. However, waiting for 25 minutes, even after being assured that my orders would be ready, is completely unacceptable. It showed a lack of consideration for my time and a disregard for the promises made by the restaurant's representative, who happened to be the owner himself.
When I inquired about the delay, expecting at least an apology or a reasonable explanation, the owner's response was shockingly dismissive and disrespectful. It was as if my time and satisfaction as a customer were of no importance to him. This kind of behavior is completely unprofessional and leaves a lasting negative impression.
I understand that running a restaurant can be challenging, but that does not excuse such poor treatment of customers. It is crucial for the owner to recognize the impact of his actions on the reputation of the establishment. A sincere apology and a genuine effort to rectify such instances can go a long way in rebuilding trust and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend the 9th Monarch to others for pick-up orders. The unapologetic and rude behavior displayed by the owner during my visit left a sour taste in my mouth, overshadowing any positive aspects the restaurant may have had. Horrible service. Waited over an hour for our food. When we showed up the dining room only had one other table with people. We sat there and watched everyone that came in after us get served while we still had nothing. And then when my food came out, it wasn't even what I ordered not worth the money at all.

This place is out of the way for us, but since we had some time last night wife and I decided to take a drive and give them another try.
The reason it's "another" is because we had previously been, but family found their food to be too spicy. Personally I liked the kick.
Last night was Friday and the place was busy. Between the half of the dining area they opened for sit in and the take outs, I can see the boss with two ladies running around none stop. Our order was taken late. Our drinks weren't filled prompt...Everything dragged out abit long but our server was pleasant and she was showing solid efforts keeping all tables afloat. Since we were just out to kill time I am in super chill mode.
Given that the wait was long, when our appetizer came finally our server also brought us an order of spring rolls. She said it's free and sounded like a messed up order she didn't want it to go waste. While we didn't need it I figured she probably felt bad for the wait, we will just bag it if we don't finish. Felt like a good gesture from the restaurant.
The food has its up and downs. Really liked the beef dish but the chicken with hot basil was a mess. The sauce is confusing and honestly can't find much chicken among the soggy fried coating. Took couple pieces and left the whole thing there after. Didn't bother bag that dish.
When it comes time for check our server informed us the manager wanted to charge us for the free spring rolls that we didn't order. I was very taken back by this decision but decided not to make a big deal since I didn't want our server to be in trouble. $7 won't break a bank or ruin my night, but I definitely won't be going back since I don't agree with this business decision.
The three star is for the beef, clean and spacey dining area, and hard working staff. The dough chicken and the not free "free" spring roll contributed to the missing stars.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - George N.MA, MA03May 24, 2023
Worst attitude in the world Miguel the owner, very disrespectful no communication skills at all, they will not get your order right the first time definitely don't recommend to anybody there are a lot more Thai places around way better than this one I just want to make it clear that Miguel the owner, the most disrespectful person with no communication, skills or people skills

Over priced Mediocre food and horrible service waited over an hour for food. At least they didnt water down their drinks I was flying after one mai tai and was not as mad as rest of our party.
