Texas de Brazil - Detroit

This is the worst Texas de Brazil we've been to out of four total. It's not even close.

Since moving back to Michigan 5 years ago we have probably been here 15 times and every single time is an experience in pulling out my hair. [The locations in DFW? Fantastic. Never a problem. Great service. Tons of meat.]

We visited this location on Valentine's Day at lunch. The place was about 2/3 empty (WHY is it always a 15 minute wait after your reservation time, even when the restaurant is almost empty?). They sat us as they literally always do off in a corner somewhere where we will get skipped for meat. We had our salads and the (delicious!) jalapeno soup and started waiting for meat. And waited. And waited. There were a couple meat servers around but nowhere near us. The first meat we saw was some sort of pork tenderloin that was COOKED BEYOND RECOGNITION. Nothing else came by for another 10 minutes. Our server who was very helpful was trying to direct meat to us. It was TWENTY TWO MINUTES after finishing our salad (oh, after we grabbed our own clean plates) before we saw any beef at all. The picanha was literally rare - this is supposed to be the house special.

At this point my husband tried to see if we could just pay the salad price (remember, I have had one bite of pork and my husband hadn't had any meat at all) and the manager was like "eh, I can give you a small discount." After another 25 minutes of disastrous experience (the next picanha was super well done) he did end up giving us the salad bar price and free desserts - thanks, but we took the day off to go there for lunch and meander around Detroit, and our nice lunch was ruined. He added that he really didn't have any reason or excuse for this terrible lunch - he acknowledged that the restaurant was nearly empty. He just kind of seemed befuddled about the whole thing. I guess he probably sees this a lot (I know *we* do).

We did finally get some appropriately cooked picanha and flank steak but that was about it, and by then we were so annoyed that we just headed out.

We contacted corporate because we just don't understand what's wrong with this specific location - and just received a form letter in reply. We sent or took everyone we know to the locations in Texas - we had our wedding luncheon at the Dallas location! - but we would be horrified to send anyone we know to this one.

Most days I love the salad bar and sides as my meal.
But the meat is so cravable also.
The lamb the Brazilian steak mmm.
But the salad bar I digress, so delicious. Fresh veggies, chimichurri, cheeses, relish items, olives, Parmesan mmm.
I love this place so much.

That was the best part of my dinner today.
Was here for two hours and no one would serve my table. It took an hour to get steak pichana. I've never had bad service here before.

Have been many times and it's always a great experience. Price has gone up over the years so be aware, but in my opinion it's still worth it.

Most recently visited for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Salad area was fresh and plentiful. My party especially enjoyed the lobster bisque. Meat service started a little slowly but came up to speed and we were offered all of the delicious variety. Our server Ali was excellent. Can't wait for the next visit.

Everything was amazing. We surprised my virgo on Saturday with a dinner party. There was about 18 ppl total. The food was great. Be careful with any meat wrapped in bacon though because it was a bit salty & fatty.
The salad bar is the best. Didn't really care for the bread but we'll be back. Wish they heated up asparagus from the salad bar.
I loved that Flynn steak. The lobster bisque was superb, I was so full.
I really liked our waitress Eva! She was nice, kind and seemed very caring. Service was as well as expected.

I Did NOT dine there because they cancelled my reservation twice on open table. They do not answer their phone! I had a reservation for 6 and got my confirmation email. Then the next day (2 days before we were to go) they cancelled it through email.
As soon as I saw this, I made the reservation again for the same time. The next day they cancelled again! Both days I tried to call them. I left a message. Never got back to me. I went there in person before I went to my other restaurant for dinner to see what the problem was. They don't know, and they don't answer phones. Place was so packed anyway with tons of people waiting around. Reminds me of Disney. I am no longer interested in going there. Especially if they can't answer why I was cancelled twice and they can't call me to discuss. Bad customer service.

Ive been twice and definitely not returning.
Restrooms were filthy and even after alerting staff nothing was done.
Poor selection of meat choices and after approximately 30 minutes and a very limited selection of meats the servers stopped bringing any meat choices at all. We inquired of the waitress and she stated she wasn't sure but she would ask. No answer was given.
We purchased a VIP dining card but they refused to accept a gift card in conjunction with it. We were told it wasn't actually stated as restricted during purchase but it was the restaurant policy. We ask to speak to the manager but told that the waitress didn't want the manager involved.
Very disappointing experience.

Would have included pictures but there was not one extra second to do so. The minute we sat down from the salad bar, the gaucho's surrounded us, looking to impregnate us with meats. In all fairness, my brother flipped his coin to the green side right away, prompting an onslaught of never ending choices.

I would've liked to have delved more into my salad bar plate, including the oh so tasteful prosciutto I only got to get a few bites of, but that was ok. I needed to save room for everything else.

The samplings we indulged in were filet mignon, lamb chops and bacon wrapped chicken breast, which I still have dreams about.

Everything was superb. The only complaint we all had was that the first round of filet was a little over cooked and dry but they rebounded quite quickly with another round and everything from there on out was so flavorful and very juicy.

Pretty open restaurant, with a lot going on constantly. Not a place where you might expect to have a quiet conversation amongst guests. It's fast and furious ... but equally as tasty.

One warning ... do not go to the bathroom with a fellow patron. There is one stall per unit and not much room at all. The line adds up quickly so get up before it's too late.

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, as did my parents. We took them for their 49th wedding anniversary and they only had great things to say. If you aren't a big meat eater, though, you won't be able to take full advantage.

I can't believe I've never rated this place on yelp. I have been here numerous times over the years. We drive from Toledo (about an hour each way) to eat here several times a year. I'm giving them three stars but typically my experience has been five stars here. Unfortunately, today was more like a 2. The food was definitely still top notch, but the service was horrible today. We were ignored for quite awhile after being seated with a reservation. There were people with no reservations that were seated after us and served before us. Then when they went around with the meat they skipped over my husband too many times to count. We even complained more than once, but it didn't seem to make a difference. When the gentleman did stop at our table with the meat, I was only having the salad bar and said no, but he still put the meat on. I ended up having them take the plate and getting a new one. The interior is ok, but the bathrooms are pretty sad for such a fine dining establishment. Will I be back? Probably, but I might just try the new one in Ann Arbor instead.

I'm actually appalled by the horrible service. Made a reservation weeks in advance for a party of ten. Nine of us showed up and one was running late so they wouldn't seat us per their policy, which was not explained when the reservation was made. After our 10th person showed up, they told us to continue to wait while they go our table ready. Our original reservation was 7:30p, our 10th person arrived at 7:50p, at 8pm the manager told me the table would be ready in 7 minutes, they sat us at 8:25pm. The manager was extremely rude and yelled "it's your fault you weren't all here" as I walked away from her.

Highly suggest making a reservation! The food is constantly on rotation and if you haven't received a meat that you wanted, they will bring it upon request. Salad and meat are priced together and dessert is add-on... but so worth it. Great place and experience!

This is the worst location I have been too. Slow service. There was stuff floating in our water. The meat was bland and tough (what's the point of coming here if that's the case). The bathroom looked like an employee hadn't been in there in weeks.

I have only ever had great experiences at other locations, so I was severely disappointed by this one.
