The food here is just amazing! My husband and I don't eat steak but our friends do and when they want steak this is where we come. It's a little like Ruth Chris meaning you have to order the sides to the steaks. My husband and I ordered salmon and that comes with mashed potatoes. The salads are good and so are the dressings. The dessert we ordered was a Molten lava cake that was really sweet. A must go place, we will be back.

We have been to Taiyo several times and each time the quality of food has gotten worse.
The last time was so terrible, I'd never go back. Ordered a medium rare steak and received a well done brick. When I asked for a new steak I given a thin, tough cut that was inedible. The Mac and cheese was served cold in the center. The overall experience has gone down. Sauces lack flavor. It's disappointing.
Not to mention the waiter is a bit pretentious for where he is. I'm Latina, I know how to say chimichurri, he would correct me and say it with Japanese inflection. Not quite, buddy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Apr 15, 2019Previous reviewWe finally found an upscale steakhouse where we left feeling full in Okinawa!! Yes, you read that right - FULL.
Wonderful service, delicious food. If I'm being hypercritical, I wish there was a better sear on my steak, but it was still tender and flavorful. Sides were delicious too. Although, I'm not a fan of their chimichurri sauce (not authentic) other selections were good.
We loved the bar area prior to seating. Can't wait to go back! - Jessica L.San Angelo, TX522128286Jan 6, 2022
We LOVED our experience at Taiyo Steakhouse. The atmosphere was wonderful- peaceful and quiet, but not too quiet. The food was delicious, and in my opinion, not too expensive. Our waitress was kind, attentive, and paid excellent attention to detail. I highly suggest Taiyo as a spot for a date night.

Called to ask about hours of operation and attire but the guy didnt speak english or attempt to answer my question, just hung up on me. Definitely won't be going there because I can only imagine how the service is in person.

My husband and I decided to try out Taiyo Steakhouse to celebrate our anniversary this year, and we were not disappointed! With a relaxing ambiance, it was a lovely dinner. Our server was attentive and kind--seeing to our every need.
The food was delicious! I started the meal off with a caesar salad, and my husband with the beef carpaccio. I had a glass of red blend wine, and I was happy to see that they had such an extensive wine list! For the main course, I had the mushroom encrusted salmon with potatoes and steamed spinach, while my husband had the filet mignon. We ended the evening with coffee and cheesecake.
We loved it and will definitely be coming back for other special occasions!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vincent B.WY, WY01Jul 23, 2022
Requires formal dress attire in an insanely hot/humid environment. This is unacceptable when local steak houses have a more casual clothing requirement.

Everyone told us this place was fancy and we were skeptical until we finally got a chance to eat here. Reservations are required and a dress code is enforced. Most people come to celebrate a special occasion like an anniversary or birthday and the restaurant is nicely prepared for these occasions. Unfortunately we learned that Tuesday it is closed, so we booked for a Tuesday night. When you approach the golf course, the restaurant is situated upstairs and next to the entrance to the casino area which was a bit surprising at first glance. The elevators open up to the casino's cashier which you have to turn the corner to see the reception desk.
There are large party tables and individual private rooms. We were seated in a private room which two sides were frosted glass windows with bonsai tree decals on them. The ceiling of the private room was open to the restaurant so you could still hear the noise from the other tables. They have a door with a short noren (traditional Japanese doorway cloth) to provide privacy. Our table was reserved with a heavy marker adorned with silver cattle head, also the theme of their steak serving plates.
We started with a taste of Miyagikyo which was smooth and light. They had my favorite Hibiki but not the 12 year which I wish they carried. Whisky options were limited to four Japanese brands which were very basic. They had a number of Scottish whiskeys and some bourbon.
For an appetizer we tried the mushroom cassolette, a mix of morel, oyster and Chantelle mushrooms in a porcini sauce served with bruschetta (small toasts, no tomato). The bread basket they give you has a pesto and truffle oil butter which goes excellently with the toasts and mushrooms.
For a main course we tried the choice filet mignon 8 ounce, medium rare, which was plenty. Although they pride themselves on just a lightly salted and peppered steak, ordering a blue cheese or bacon topping certainly would not hurt the flavor.
The seared duck breast was a little to undercooked for my taste, which made the middle of the slices a bit too chewy. The cherry sauce was delicious however the sweet potato was not that great. They were diced into tiny cubes and overheated by a heat lamp, crunchy and not very caramelized.
Fear not, if you aren't a meat eater, there are also some fish and vegetarian options and plenty of side dishes, appetizers to fill oneself.
For dessert they generously offered a free cheesecake for our anniversary.
Service was superb and it lived up to its reputation. Prices were actually quite reasonable and we will definitely be back for another special occasion.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Erin B.Apex, NC94941Dec 31, 2016
Absolutely delicious! We had the shrimp cocktail, and fried calamari for appetizers and they were both excellent.
For dinner my husband had the bone in ribeye and I had the prime rib roast. Again, both were very good. Good cuts of meat, and tasty. For sides we had fries, and asparagus... good, but pretty average compared to everything else.
We finished the night off with the molten lava cake. Equally good as the appetizers and steaks.
Love, love, love this place. We will be back for sure!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - J. J.Okinawa, Japan311732Oct 27, 2019
This is our favorite date night spot. We are always here that the staff remembers us and our order. The food, the ambiance, the service, the atmosphere is all amazing.
There is closed area as an option for more privacy and a more intimate feel. This is where we always sit for date night.
There is a dress code for dinner so make sure you check their website for more information.
Appetizers: we always order the coconut shrimp and the crab cakes which are delicious. I also always order the lobster bisque soup. Yummm
Main dish: I can't seem to order anything else because I'm such a fan of the miso salmon. I ALWAYS order this. It reminds me of the miso salmon at Cheesecake Factory back in the states. It comes with Japanese green rice which taste amazing.
Their desserts are so delicious too. We have had them all so it doesn't matter which dessert you go with, you won't be disappointed.
Highly recommend this steak house and this golf course too!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
