Located in the middle of nowhere, across from a Wawa gas station of all places, this little lunch truck is a serious gem to be found.
Next to the truck is a nice little seating area, more like a front porch of someone's house. There are some cases of coke bottles and signs of different tacos and Mexican food items, combine this with the smell perfuming from the truck, you can close your eyes a bit and be transported to a different place.
I came at peak hour and it was quite busy, it took about 20 minutes to get 3 tacos. I had tacos with steaks, chorizo sausage and spicy pork. The steaks and chorizo were both good, the chorizo being more oily. The steak was fresh and tender but lacked a bit of sweet, it was one note salty. The real star here was the pork. The spicy pork was marinated with pineapple, giving it a perfect sweet balance to the fatty and spicy pork. I wish I had ordered all three of the pork. There were many other items on the menu that I will come back to try.
This place is not to be missed and it's super cheap. My 3 tacos, loaded with meats was only $7, you can't really beat that. I will recommend to anyone driving by, make an effort to stop in, you will be satisfied.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Akash J.Garnet Valley, PA169201151Aug 19, 2015
I've long been hoping for reliable, authentic Mexican food in Cecil county. Taco Shop is a pretty great step in that direction. The menu is short (as it should be), offering tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and tortas. I tried the tacos ($2 apiece) with carnitas enchiladas (spicy pork) and chicken. The tortillas were fresh, SUPER hot--too hot to pick up for a minute!--and really made the tacos. The meat fillings were both pretty good: excellent by East coast standards, but I'm biased by growing up out West. The cooks were friendly and the service was fast.
I would bump to 5 stars but one thing I really missed from Western US taquerias is a big condiment bar with things like salsas, lime, cilantro, radishes, cebollitas (grilled onions), and other additions. Taco Shop did provide some excellent salsa roja and salsa verde along with fresh cilantro and lime, but I'd love to see some more fixins.
Stop in and try out a taco for $2. You won't go back to Taco Bell.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Corey D.Joppa, MD0551Mar 18, 2015First to Review

Super great experience. The guy who attended to us was friendly and nice. We ordered pretty much everything on the menu and the marinated pork and bistec tacos were really nice.... the Chicken taco was nice as well. We just happened upon this place on our drive down to D.C. For a day trip. Will def plan to hit this place up again on our next trip down.

The food at this place is outstanding, and now that they've expanded their hours of operation, I've been able to eat cow tongue tortas to my heart's content! Don't pass this place by! It looks unassuming, but it's packed with flavor!!!

Good authentic Mexico style tacos but more expensive that others. $2.50 for steak and pork tacos, $2 for chicken. Kitchen is located in a food cart next to a building that was closed. There were a few table outside the building but limited seating overall. Would go back if I'm in the area.

You know you're in for a treat when a taco cart/truck smells good from 20 ft away. Daaaamn good tacos. Lengua was super tender and flavorful, with a bit of sear on them. The well marinated al pastor had the perfect balance of crunchiness and fattiness. Corn tortillas were very soft and fresh, though I like them to sit on the griddle a bit longer. Not used to seeing churro at these places, but theirs was great (and maybe had a bit of a filling?) This place and Durham's Best BBQ are probsbly the best sort-of-quick meal options on Elkton Rd.

Fantastic food. I've had every meat that they have in regular rotation and they are all exceptional. Taco shop simply cannot come close to being beat in Mexican takeout anyway around this area 12/10

What a great find. Had amazing chicken and pork taco and steak burrito. Asked about veggie only taco, this was very good as well. The chicken and port was mix with a red chili sauce this made the taco unique. Will go back again and a must try. Enjoy..
