The customer service was extra helpful and went the extra mile to put a smile on my daughters face and get her into reading books

It serves a purpose for this Los Angeles community. Its also the closest LAPL branch to nearby Santa Clarita where we live and often frequented by my wife, who belongs to numerous city and county libraries throughout the state of California. I was here recently to take advantage of the limited edition P-22 library card; only available this month of March at LAPL city branches.
I've followed this roaming cougar Los Angeles legend in the news, since he first made his way from the nearby Santa Monica Mountains, into the city's largest park; Griffith Park and the surrounding Hollywood Hills back in 2012. He was euthanized last year due to injuries suffered after being hit by a car. He is now buried back in the Santa Monica Mountains, the place of his birth, in a secret location.
I found the young lady at the front desk very welcoming, friendly and helpful. For any locals interested in obtaining this unique card, and you have a LAPL membership, or would like one. This offer ends this month. You'll only need to change your card number with this reissue; they'll transfer your account info over to the new card.
But like I said, although somewhat small, the Sylmar branch serves this community.Helpful 13Thanks 2Love this 12Oh no 1 - Cassandra M.Sylmar, Sylmar, CA01012Mar 16, 2024
The consistency of professionalism from librarians and the assistants as well. The atmosphere is just right! I've never had a bad experience. And I'm happy to also add the parking very convenient and quite shady as well.

This review is for the availability of devices for scanning and the help received from the employees. I have needed to scan and upload documents for various businesses and government agencies. The staff is very helpful every time. The library have saved me as well and it's closer to me then Office Depot. The scanning is free, just bring your thumb drive and they will assist you with your needs.

I'm a local College student at LAMC and this library has been amazing. They've had many of the books I need for my English classes as well as the audio versions which is awesome and so helpful. The employees are very kind and always happy to help me. I recommend coming here especially if you're a student they may have the book you need.

I needed help looking for a book and the young lady at the reference desk was very helpful. She was able to locate what I was looking for and she was kind enough to show me where it was. They also have some pretty cool displays and the staff were very kind and welcoming.

Yikes!!! This place is pretty sad. I don't even know where to begin. Let's start with the noise level. There are a group of kids on the computer that are so loud it is distracting...then when you put this noise together with the lady on her cell phone who is talking as if the person on the other end is deaf....it's a noise concert in here. On top of that, there are some high school kids running around as if this were a play ground.
The restrooms deserve a whole review of their own.
They are truly like indoor portpotties. GROSS AND DISGUSTING. TAKE YOUR PICK! Graffiti on the walls. The separating stalls have been repainted so many times that they looked layered. The floor is wet with who knows what....And the cherry on top....no hand soap for that zoo of germs.
Finally there is the book selection. Yes they have books, but certainly not enough...at least in the kids section. Half the shelves, which there are about eight and a half, plus a back wall, are about half way empty. I would recommend you find another library if you can or be prepared for the very limited selection of books. The sad part is that my son wanted to come to a library because he thought it would be a good, quiet place to do homework... He quickly realized that would not be the case in this library.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Edwin C.Sylmar, CA415424Nov 8, 2011First to Review
This place looks beautiful from outside. Moved to the area not to long ago and barely discovered this place. I came here and it took a while to get my card. Aside from that they don't have 2 books I was looking for. The place is very small and the kids from the nearby schools come in here and just get on the computers to check their fb.

This is my local branch of the Los Angeles Public Library. As far as variety goes, the resources do seem to be limited and could use further expansion. That being said they have a easily accessible Classics section which is the main reason I go. There always seems to be an an open computer with Internet access which is great. I'm really looking forward to their Adult Summer Reading program, Summer 2016. It's a great way to get back into reading and they have some great suggestions for a summer reading list.
