Laurel G.
Sweet Laurel is a whole foods baking company, meaning, no fillers, no weird stuff. Just the best organic, whole ingredients going into delicious grain-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free baked goods. This is indulgent, healthful food with a body positive perspective. It's about loving the food you eat instead of punishing yourself for craving it. All of our treats are paleo, and some are vegan and keto too. Most of the items are made with less than five ingredients, and none of them are the wacky gums and stabilizers you'll find in most gluten free and paleo products. We love few things more than a perfect slice of cake, so we only put the fewest, best ingredients in our baked goods.

Sweet laurel bakery is a sugar free and grain free bakery. Some of their stuff is really great, and you wouldn't be able to tell that it's healthy, and some other stuff you can taste the texture difference, but taste is never compromised. I tried their vanilla coconut jam cake which did have a gritty texture from the coconut but it was delicious! I also got to take a few bites of their chocolate caramel cake from my sister in law which didn't disappoint either. We wanted to try a few other things but they were sold out of their turmeric bread.
I also tried their turmeric chai latte which was very watery and tasted more like a tea with lots of foam on top.
The place was a lot smaller than I imagined but very cute and decorated with vintage tea cups and flowery designs everywhere. Those who are health conscious need to make a stop here! It's sweets without all the guilt, and great tasting.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Joe Y.Los Angeles, CA1701Jan 3, 2024

My family in LA ordered me a birthday cake from Sweet Laurel Bakery to celebrate my 30th. They thought that I was still gluten-free. I so appreciated the thoughtful and loving gestures. I've always wanted to try the baked goods from this shop because the store looked so cute and pink, just like my personality!
I was surprised when I noticed that the cake didn't have frosting. Isn't that a staple to having cake? I also noticed that it didn't have much flavor. I mean I wasn't quite sure what the flavor was. Was it lemon? Vanilla? I just haven't seen even a gluten/dairy-free bakery that would have these characteristics. Maybe their tea selection is better?Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Sep 24, 2023
Shop is incredibly cute and staff is super kind! Love the whole vibe of the shop.
But...the goods are not very good. I was so sad that I didn't like any of the three items I tried. Their items are grain-free, sugar-free and dairy-free which was very exciting. But unfortunately the flavor was not good in anything I tried. I'm a dessert-a-holic so it's paining me to write this review.
I tried their Chocolate Chip Cookie ($3.50), Double chocolate brownie ($5)
and Chocolate Caramel Cake ($10). The taste wasn't good on any of the three items and actually to the point of me not finishing the items. This is not my norm at all, so I surprised even myself.
I feel so bad but the baked goods were just not tasty. Did I get the wrong items?!Helpful 30Thanks 1Love this 14Oh no 3 - Gnat A.Beverly Hills, CA06921Apr 21, 2024
Everything is beautiful but offensively tasteless. The most horrible cinnamon roll I have ever had. Hard cardboard soaked in coconut oil. I order 8 items. They were placed in one box with no dividers. I got home to everything smashed. Except the cinnamon roll because it was so hard. Nothing can smash that.

My husband got my Valentine's Day cookies there for 2023. He special ordered and had a great experience at check out!
We love their baked goods. We're here more often than Yelp knows... bc if it's not on Yelp, the calories don't count right?
Sweet Laurel Bakery is my go to for post dinner party desserts. It's always a crowd pleaser! Especially the coconut jam and it takes the heat off me to plan, prep and prepare another dish. And the reliability factor is huge. Everything is consistent and consistently delicious.
So grateful this bakery is close to home and they now have a flat rate fee for shipping throughout many parts of LA! Yay!Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 19Oh no 0Aug 9, 2020Previous reviewGluten, grain & refined sugar free.
This is my type of bakery. Everything is sweetened with maple syrup. It's fairly expensive - no avoiding that fact! But for a guilt free treat for those suffering dietary restrictions it's such a wonderful option. Also they always have a vegan option too.
I'm dropping a star for a few reasons. This is absolutely not a reflection on Laurel or Claire, both of whom I saw speak at a Hashimotos seminar they organized with a dietician for the community. It was great BTW.
We came here frequently during 2020. For our anniversary, my birthday during covid, a sweet snack during covid etc. on each occasion the register girl was so rude. On my birthday she was very critical to my husband who is deaf in one ear & has a hard time hearing people through masks. This was at the start of Covid when we were learning the new normal & she was very rude when he didn't notice the taped lines. Every time since, she continues to be rude to the point where my husband and I agree, he should just wait outside. It's not worth his aggravation & her poor manners. It's a small/tight place & she is just unpleasant.
Please train the staff. It's a service position and if you're going to default the credit card machine to require a tip amount be entered, they can at least have decent manners. Not that regulars should get special treatment but when I regularly spend money supporting a business I want to see remain open, it's disheartening to encounter such a lousy attitude time & time again. It makes me not want to come back & certainly makes me want to leave my husband outside as mentioned.
Also some flavors are disappointing. The carrot cake should just be omitted or reworked.
The coconut jam is incredible though, as is the keto brownie & the caramel chocolate. I liked their tumeric loaf but i can't dismiss other reviews since it is mild.
I love having this option but for $12 a slice? I'd like to be greeted with some kindness when I overlook the tape on the ground or ask you to repeat a statement because of the mask. Just sayin' - Brittney O.Torrance, CA345290Jul 18, 2023
My favorite bakery! I have a lot of dietary restrictions and usually avoid dairy, rice and gluten. I was so excited when I discovered a grain-free, dairy-free bakery with the cutest vibe It's also close to a lot of great hikes too! I usually park in the parking garage, and stay for an hour or two. Parking is around $2/hour I believe. On Sundays, there's the farmers market just around the corner too!
Let's talk desserts! My favorite is the chocolate caramel cake then the carrot cake. Also love their chocolate chip cookies and ice cream sandwiches. I'm usually a blueberry muffin girl but their lemon poppyseed is actually my go-to. Their mini cupcakes are also yummy. I haven't tried everything yet, but believe me... I will.
I even bought their cakes for our small wedding ceremony, and they were perfect. The flowers matched our decor. The flowers were an additional cost l, and I didn't pick the specific ones.
Just go and try it yourself!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - suzie m.Santa Monica, CA04Apr 8, 2024
Very beautiful and quaint tiny bakery and coffee bar smack in the center of the shopping area on Sunset in Pacific Palisades. Great layer cakes not too sweet and beautiful. Delicious variations of cookies and other not your usual pastries to try. Nice packaging and polite and helpful staff.

My birthday last year was smack in the middle of my pregnancy, which came with a complication called gestational diabetes. This meant that I had to follow a strict diet to control my blood sugar levels, which is tested (by poking my finger) four times a day. Not being able to have carbs and sweets really brought my mood and energy level waaaay down.
But when I was ready to accept the fact that I couldn't enjoy a good cake for my birthday last year, my husband found Sweet Laurel Bakery and this gorgeous lemon cake for me. The best part about it, it's keto! So I gave it a go and devoured a huge slice. And I have to admit, I was still quite surprised when my blood sugar did NOT spike! Why? Because the cake was sooooooo good I couldn't believe it didn't have all the "bad" ingredients. In fact, the nuttiness, the emphasis on the fragrance, and the reduced sweetness in the cake made it even better than traditional cakes. Honestly, this is one of the few cakes that I will openly admit tastes much better than the ones I make
Btw, along with the cake also came with a pack of keto cookie dough for home baking, a cannister of keto gummies, a keto chocolate bar, and a pack of lavender tea. All of which were super delicious and equally "low damage" on the blood sugar meter. Plus, they delivered it all to me so my husband can spend my birthday with me instead of trucking across LA traffic to pick up the cake.
Thank you so much for a sweet birthday during a difficult time. I will recommend you all to try their goodies whether or not you need to cut back on your sugar. Cuz I definitely willHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Sofya P.Los Angeles, CA364121358Aug 8, 2023
This place is so cute, pink and girly. The cake was nothing special unfortunately which was a bit disappointing.
