Painfully disappointed with the Sugar House. My family (5) and I went there on a Saturday at lunch time. I ordered a mushroom burger which had about 6 mushroom pieces. The burger, ordered med rare, was actually raw and cold inside. The bun was cold, the mushrooms were cold, the fries were cold. I ordered a mimosa which was not portioned correctly, WAY too much champagne, which was also hella cheap. But the price for half a wine glass was overboard.
The waitress, who stated it was her first week, had not been trained properly. She couldn't answer basic questions about the menu. All of our food came out at different times. The caesar salad was $3.50 and it was literally a cup of poorly chopped romaine, half a teaspoon of cheese and four croutons. The dressing was horrific. It didn't even taste like caesar, it tasted like Miracle Whip mixed with some herbs. The salad came at the same time as my entree.
Breakfast burrito was tiny for the $10 price tag, Chicken Fried Steak Plate was tasteless and bland. Literally no seasoning at all. Gravy was bland and the biscuits were tiny, flavorless and gummy. The plate is supposed to come with the biscuits and the waitress or cooks forgot and my son had to ask for them.
I've heard that they have had staffing issues, as I follow them on Instagram and remembered a post from a couple weeks ago that they had to close do to not having enough staff. It seems like the cooks in the kitchen are very green and haven't been working in the industry for very long.
The only good thing at our table was my daughters pineapple upside down pancakes. Those were INCREDIBLE. Some of the best pancakes I've ever had.
Other pluses, their website is gorgeous and user friendly. I just wish the food and service were like the website.
I don't travel to Eaton much, so I doubt I'll be back. Their dinner menu looks promising, but with unskilled cooks in the kitchen and untrained front of the house staff, I doubt I'll come back.
Such a disappointment.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lindy S.Centennial, CO20258147Dec 21, 2017
Breakfast at the Sugar House is worth the short trip up to Eaton. My favorite is the Chorizo Gravy and Biscuits. It does not have the spice or grease content one may expect with Chorize (which is more than ok with me) but it a very unique flavor and IMO a great twist on traditional sausage gravy (it is also great on their mashed potatoes). Lots of options if you are looking for traditional eggs and bacon or a fruity pancake or waffle concoction. Everything is always prepared really well.
They have a large variety of menu items for the cozy converted house that they occupy. Lunch offers hand-made burgers, many salads, sandwiches and small entrees. Their smoked chicken is wonderfully flavorful.
They are open for dinner on the weekends, and serve up a pretty good steak as well.
The restaurant is tiny, but there is usually not too long of a wait. All of the staff is really friendly and it almost feels like you're eating at home.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Orlo E.Broomfield, CO0283Jan 21, 2017
Stopped for Lunch. I had the daily special BLT sandwich with Canadian Bacon. Wife had steak salad and daughter had chicken fried with mashed potato. All I can say is WOW. Everything was perfect or better. This food is some of the best in Colorado. Preparation was spotless, spicing was not over agressive, and the service rivals the most fastidious 5 star restaurants.
We shared a bread pudding and it was perhaps the best I've ever had. Loaded with nuts and a marvelous hint of burnt carmel.
I am trying to find time for a breakfast.
I'll be back and am recommending to everyone!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Kearsley R.Denver, CO255120Apr 8, 2018
Oh my goodness a hidden gem! What a great atmosphere, with a wonderful wait staff and delicious food. I'm half tempted to tell you all that everything is horrible so you won't visit this hidden gem, but these guys deserve some credit.
It was just my friend and I, but the place was also taking care of bigger tables with 5 or more people. I'm sure a call ahead with bigger groups would still be appreciated, but certainly not required.
The menu is a good size. Not to BIG and not too small. They feature Breakfast, Brunch and lunch. They have a great Tea variety, cocktails and juices. Yes they of course have coffee.
So, why the 5 stars? Well...we were greeted right away. The wait staff was professionally dressed. The wait staff knew the menu and could give solid recommendations. The menu is full of delightful options. Finally the food was AWESOMELY fresh.
Thank you guys for yet another great experience. Looking forward to coming on back and trying more.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stephanie S.Greeley, CO183Feb 15, 2020
We had a wonderful Valentine's Day meal here. My boyfriend had a tenderloin with a mashed potato and I had sea bass with lobster served on risotto with asparagus. Yumm! We chose this restaurant because they were planning on offering a Beef Wellington which was not on the menu when we arrived. That was a disappointment. However they did a great job. I have just a couple suggestions that would have made a really good experience great. Just for special evenings, a table cloth and candle would have Mede it so much nicer. The other improvement would be a better dinner roll. Never be afraid to add just a touch of elegance for special occasions.

As a vegetarian, this is pretty standard American fare and there's not much in the way of healthy meals here. That said, the french fries are tasty (not overly salty) and the coffee is good (although they don't have soy milk for coffee). Never mind; my carnivore companions liked their beef dip, patty melt, chicken sandwiches and yes, the french fries. The service is very friendly, as helpful as can be, albeit a little slow -- there was only one server on this day. Obviously it is a favorite haunt of the locals, and was almost full the whole time we were there. It's not a large place but it's a comfortable, home-town kind of atmosphere. I personally would not choose to eat here again but my carnivore companions will very likely be back so I will, too. Coffee and french fries for me.

So glad this place is open!
I had a fantastic breakfast and the coffee was tasty too. Gluten free bread was good too. Had the eggs and toast but came with fruit and home made home fries too! Yum!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Amanda G.Greeley, CO1055770Feb 4, 2019
They smoke their meat in house and have excellent service. I love the steak breakfast sandwich. They have oilfield specials and happy hour.

Stopped here after a track meet. Staff was super friendly and sweet! Food was basic though. I ordered an omelette with hash and hubby got pineapple upside down pancakes. Neither were spectacular and they smelled strongly of sausage (which we didn't order.)
Maybe the evening selection is better?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
