We ONLY had milkshakes, that said they were good.
I had PB with coffee ice cream, my husband did chocolate, my daughter did mint and my son went with Oreo.
Everything was tasty, service was lacking (slow and not friendly at all), but it was teenagers so it was as expected.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kelly B.NY, NY612245Apr 15, 2024
As we searched for gallery's and cool places to eat in old historic Scottsdale. The Sugar Bowl came up as cute place to visit. First impressions were that it was cute and a sort of 50's style retro look in pink.
It is mostly an ice cream shop and we went there for lunch. First let me state that the wait staff is very nice, very efficient.
I ordered a salad ( pricy for the size but delicious ). My husband ordered a vanilla egg cream with extra whip cream and a chilly burger. He was quite disappointed in the egg cream. Usually you'll get a separate glass of seltzer. He received the egg cream with a shot glass sized glass of seltzer and no whip cream at all. His chilly burger was equally disappointing considering the price. The plating was sloppy and my husband did not like the chilly at all "out of a can". Perhaps they're used to handling children as there were many there.
I really felt it was not worth the hype with a sad, dated marketing built on the artwork of a cartoonist from Family Circle. No offense to the artist at all, but The Sugar Bowl is out datedly exhibiting his work.
We would have just left with a neutral effect but I visited the ladies room before we left!!!! I usually do that before I order because a clean restroom is a clean kitchen. The restroom was disgusting and I won't post detailed pictures cause it's quite unappetizing.
Note to restaurant owners, spend money on a person who just keeps the restrooms and seating clean! I usually go to the restroom first before I order, I have walked out of many places based on that. My family is in the business so I do know budgets for restaurant but this one was very busy. It's not the staffs fault, it's the manager and budget given by the owners.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Janai S.San Diego, CA1561164Jan 19, 2024
This place is as old school as it gets. I'm pretty sure it's never been updated since it opened in 1958, and that's what makes it so lovable.
We went in for some ice cream sundaes, but to my surprise they actually have a full menu. The menu is pretty old fashioned with items like Egg Salad Sandwich, Grilled Ham and Cheese, and Jello.
We got some ice cream sundaes and some potato chips. The ice cream was good! The server wasn't overly friendly, but she did give us good service.
We will return, especially with our of town guests that are in the mood for a throw back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Joel J.Kansas City, MO49121163May 4, 20241 check-in
Sugar Bowl is a great old fashioned ice store with good lunch options. The service is friendly and efficient. They seated us quickly, took our order quickly and food arrived promptly. The egg salad sandwich on toasted sour dough was perfect. There may not be a better ice cream dish in the world than a Top Hat Sundae. Ice cream inside a cream puff covered in hot fudge. A cute can't miss place in old Scottsdale.

THIS SH*T IS BANANAS LOVE-love love the Sugar Bowl in Scottsdale! The banana split was yummy and the menu has so much to choose from! They even serve food! If you're in Scottsdale don't just pass by the Sugar Bowl, definitely go in! We can't wait for those nice spring days and enjoying ice cream together The service is kind and it's just a fun diner experience and just love how the interior is all pink!

Cute little ice cream shop that has been bookmarked for months! I was finally on this side of town and decided to stop by after dinner. I brought some friends and they thought the decor was cute and girly. It gives old school ice cream shop vibes. The customer service wasn't the greatest, however. It wasn't overly crowded and we were seated promptly. I got the brownie Sundae and the brownie was really good. The sundae itself was okay

Love this ice cream parlour. Like stepping back in time to 1950's and the prices are so reasonable.
Visited twice this week. Once for a malt after dinner and today for a light dinner of a bowl of soup (cheese and broccoli) tea sandwich and crackers along with coffee float. Sandwiches were great and just hit the spot. Floats were excellent and very flavourful.
A fun place to hang. Staff are friendly and helpful.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jasmine B.Cerritos, CA24146Apr 25, 2024

When my family said they wanted dessert this was the place to go. I love coming to old style diners/ice cream shops.
We went close to when they were closing. We were the only ones there.
They seated us right away.
My family has been there prior so they already had an idea of what they wanted.
My husband and I shared the top hat sundae.
It was good. Very chocolatey which my husband likes. I felt like it was maybe too much chocolate.
They have a mini arcade which was fun to go play while we waited for the sundae. My little one was having fun.
Overall, cute place with a good amount of seating inside. We wouldn't go out of our way to go but if we are in the area and looking for some ice cream we would come here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 12314361329Feb 11, 2024
