About the Business
Since opening our iconic Steamworks Brewpub in Gastown in 1995, we've made traditional and groundbreaking steam-powered brews. In 2012 we launched our newly packaged line of beers for sale in BC Liquor Stores, BC Licensed Retail Stores, and Restaurants and Pubs around Western Canada, proudly still brewing with steam at our location at 3845 William St, Burnaby. On site at our Burnaby Brewery & Taproom you can purchase retail packaged six-packs, twelve-pack Mash Up seasonal mixed beers, bomber seasonal bottles, tallboy cans, and fresh draught growler fills straight from the source! We also rent kegs for special - or everyday - events, and host brewery tours and custom events in our Taproom, by reservation.

Lots of free parking! This is a plus. Well they are free street parking. Don't know a lot of Craft Brewery in Burnaby. This is awesome that I found one in Burnaby.
Came here to grab drinks. I am not a beer drinker. I had a sip of the Kolsch. It was not bad. The flavor was light. There are lots of good options to choose from here .This brewery is quite big. Lots of indoor seating. It is clean inside.
We came here during covid time. All protocols and Covid procedures are in place.
I like this location more than their downtown Steamworks location.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 5, 2023
Walking around Gastown, oldest neighborhood in Vancouver. Time for a rest and maybe a brew in this charming brewery! And since we're in Canada how about poutine! Yum. Great multi level seating and view of the harbor and a good looking waiter . . What more could I ask for?

This is a favorite place for my friends who drink, especially as they live nearby.
There is a Wednesday special where the beer is $4 (16 oz). There are 6 different flavors to choose from for the special. The red ale is the favorite and apparently never goes on sale.
The place is spacious with plenty of long tables which can seat 6-8 people comfortably.
Covid-19 safety protocol is in place and you will need the vaccine passport to stay for a drink. You can also buy the growler ($5) and add your choice of beer ($10) which is only for to go.
Plenty of street parking making it a convenient place to meet friends for a drink.
It gets busy after 5 pm.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Apr 12, 2020
Delayed review. I have visited Steamworks Brewery on two occasions (pre-Covid) - coincidentally both times were when I had out-of-town guests visiting.
I have been living in Burnaby for almost 20 years and I only discovered this taproom less than two years ago, randomly when trying to figure out where to take my out-of-town guest to. I have been to the downtown Steamworks restaurant before and have bought the beer at liquor stores, but never realized how close this brewery was to me!
The brewery itself is very spacious with high-seated tables. Can't say enough good things about their beers. My absolute favourite is their Killer Cucumber Ale (which unfortunately is usually only limited during the summer months and difficult to find at liquor stores). It is super refreshing and such a great summer beer. Can't wait to visit again when Covid is over!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 1 - Jul 2, 2016
There are tons of breweries all over Vancouver so I'm happy Steamworks opened up in Burnaby. This is a great place to hang out after work. There are over 6 types of beer to choose from and another 3 different Radlers. At $4 for a 12oz glass, it's a steal. Their tasting flight is only $6.50 as well.
There's only sandwiches and chips or pretzels for snacks. The sandwich was average, but it filled the void in my stomach. I suggest to pick up some food instead and hang out with friends for a while.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 1, 2015220 check-ins
Wow, didn't know there was a craft beer place in this nowhere part of Burnaby. This building has had many businesses come and go over the years. Hopefully this incarnation survives.
Parking is plentiful as the surrounding area is pretty dead at night. There is also a lot in the back.
This place is just like the downtown location except for a few major differences:
1) Much smaller beer selection here. They only have their in-house brews.
2) The place is much emptier. Probably because not too many people know this place exists. I didn't even know until a friend told me. This means there are plenty of seats available.
3) Much brighter lighting. This is a good thing.
Brews are a bit pricier than the competition, at $2 for a 4oz glass, and $6.50 for a 3 glass flight, which includes a bowl of bar nuts. This can be replaced with a 4th glass for a bit more (some $8-9).
There are 2 beers (Firewalker and Jasmine IPA) that are for tasters and glasses only. Both of these are worth a special mention. The former tastes like coffee, while the latter tastes like tea. Pretty neat.
My only wish is that the place would stay open later.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 29, 2018
Neighborhood brewery, the one and only... What more can i ask for? I can literally get pissed drunk and crawl home. Sweettt! Nice spacious place, clean, nice vibe, friendly staffs, and decent prices. Only things to be careful about is there is no outdoor patio, dogs are not allowed, and food menu is limited... It's all made up by the fact that it has decent beer and its close to home !

Love this brewery! Love the atmosphere and their beers are great!
I go to this brewery more often as they give a deal to Vancouver Dodgeball League players, can't say no to a deal! My go to beer (when it's in season) is the salted chocolate porter. It's something special, I tell ya. Their winter lager is also a tasty beer.
This place is quite often packed with people, so going early to grab a spot is key to a good experience at Steamworks.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ty F.Central Vancouver, Vancouver, Canada03Mar 27, 2021
When I went to the "Steamworks Brewery & Taproom" I ordered the "Pulled Pork Sandwich" I found that the meal was "quite filling" but "the sandwich fell apart and it ended up becoming a meat salad" I thought the "Fries portion size" wasn't the best. But the Meal still was good. The dessert was a very big portion and I very easily split it with my two other dinner goers. Overall, meal was good, I would go again, but probably try their burger.

Friendly staff, huge tasting room. Love the design of this space, concrete floors and wooden walls, big tables to enjoy a pint! Congrats steamworks on becoming the first brewery in burnaby! I will be back quite a bit I suspect ;) The raspberry frambozen was delicous, as was the wheat ale. I really like how they sell little nibbles to eat with your drink! :)
