Decent selection and really friendly staff. I've been in places like this where the staff were judgmental, opinionated pricks. Not here. Plus they were dog friendly so bonus points.

This is a cool open air store. Literally they open up a garage door. I will say this place is unique. But you have to do some digging to find what you want. There are literally stacks of discount records on the floor if you are willing to get dirty I am sure there are some gems.
There is a little beat up stage in the back so I think they host some shows there. They have a huge punk section. I think the whole place is fit for the punk rockers. From the atmosphere to the merchandise and the staff this is great for metal heads and punks.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Matthew H.Asheville, NC03Nov 4, 2022

Cool little shop... lots of indie & punk and some classics. Hidden away in plain sight in the Asheville that hasn't been "renovated" or gentrified. Any store that keeps a Stone Roses record on the wall is ok in my book.
As others have said, the selection is a little limited and focuses its efforts on what they probably like the most. It's not often you find a shop willing to stick to a genre and not try to be something to everyone so props to them!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Davis W.Lubbock, TX05Jun 24, 2022
Just rating the record shopping experience here. I'm from out of town, but I try to visit every record store I can. Fairly certain they book shows on their stage. I'm sure seeing a band play there would be a blast. I would recommend dropping in here if you are in the area. I wasn't blown away with their selection, but there were plenty of good reissues for those interested in outsider music whether it's jazz or punk. They have one of the better "out" jazz sections in the area, but they are sadly mostly reissues. Decent selection of punk and metal. Nothing to write home about. I tend to avoid reissues while I'm on the road since they are available elsewhere, and I don't want to carry them around. The used selection was okay, nothing fantastic, but maybe you'll find a gem. Give it a go, but I wouldn't go out of my way for the shop. The employee was welcoming, and the vibe was generally good.

If I could retire and do anything in the world I wanted, chances are I'd open a record store that looks and operates exactly like Static Age Records does.
It's part record store, part beer bar, and part performance studio where you can see live bands, fun DJ nights, and more. My friends and I were staying for the weekend right down the street, and we came here every day for a craft beer and some record shopping. We also stopped in one night for a goth DJ party that we were seriously underdressed for (Hawaiian shirts don't really vibe with a goth theme), but it was fun nonetheless.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 16Oh no 0 - Emily L.Sarasota, FL03140Mar 1, 2021
Good with Covid protocols, shop attendant welcomed us in, showed us how to use their fancy hand sanitizer then we started browsing. Average prices, huge selection, but not gems or mainstream music. 99 percent of what we browsed through I had never heard of before. The couple of records I found and considered buying were just a little too high priced for me to give in. Overall, worth the stop, worth the dig, but left empty handed.

Been to lots of record shops across the country. This one is truly a great one. Nice variety. Beer in the fridge. Live music. All good.

Awesome store. I have no record store within 3 hours of my home so I had to check it out while in town. Great, personable staff. The girl working at the counter helped me discover a great new band. Thank you for a great experience. I bought Mammoth Grinder's Cosmic Crypt and a Shadow of the Destroyer LP.

Static age records is a brilliant find in Asheville. Knowledgeable, friendly staff and a decent collection of records (old and new). My only complaint is that I live so far away!
