Q:
Do you have to enter through the casino or is there a separate entrance you can use?
A:
The closest entrance to Sonoma Cellar is from the strike zone parking lot , just a few slot machines. Use Google maps 😀

Excellent quality meats (grass fed beef etc.) with wait staff to match. The ambience was nice in our private area complete with brick walls and giant chandeliers.
They made our family dining experience a night to remember.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We returned here with friends on Christmas Day, and had a fine dinner. A complimentary Bread Basket at a nice assortment of doughy products, including popovers and Pretzel Bread. Then our party of four shared some Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. The crustaceans were accompanied by Dijon Marmalade, which I could have done without. An order of Oysters Rockefeller was okay. A crock of French Onion Soup Gratinee was cheesy and very well made. And a Steakhouse Chopped Salad was good.
Diane and I split 1-1/2 pounds of excellent and easily opened King Crab Legs for our main, accompanied by very good, lightly crisp French Fries, Mashed Yams with Melted Marshmallow, and Green Beans Almondine. I was particularly fond of the Yams.
Our friends ordered a nice-looking 10 oz. Filet, and a Seafood Jackpot. We were seated at our reservation time of 6:00 p.m., and had depleted most ordered food by 8:45 p.m. Thus, we were all too full for dessert.
Prices were reasonable for what we received, with King Crab Legs now a very expensive commodity. We paid $169.00 for the rather large portion we ordered, but it was a holiday, so were willing to splurge a little, and the sweet morsels supplied entrees for two people. Service was good, except one Lobster Bisque was initially forgotten. Seating was comfortable in a large booth, and the ambiance here is classy. We will definitely return again.

We are so grateful for your review. Thanks for sharing your rating with us and the community.
Jan 19, 2017Previous reviewDiane and I spent New Year's Eve with friends here for a 2-3/4 hour meal. Once again Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp and a Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail were stellar starters. A bowl of cheesy Onion Soup Gratinee was excellent, and a Steakhouse Salad very good. However, a bowl of Lobster Bisque was good but cold, and all sauce had cooked out of the Lobster Thermidor prong of that evening's special Surf & Turf by the time it reached the table. The 7 oz. Filet accompanying it was medium rare as ordered, and delicious with both Bearnaise Sauce and Shitake Mushroom & Red Wine Demi-Glace Sauce. And a very large, single slice of decadent 7-Layer Chocolate Cake easily satisfied all four of us, enhanced further by 2 scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream.
Service was good when it was rendered. But our server initially only took orders for soup and salad, and did not seek further ordering for another 20 minutes. My Baked Potato arrived late, and at first lacked requested bacon bits.
Overall, we still all greatly enjoyed our meal, but the dining encounter did not rise to a 5-star experience this time around.Aug 20, 2014Previous reviewThis fine restaurant was a delightful surprise. On my very first visit creamy Washington Oysters on the Half Shelf and Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp with ultra-mild and sweet Dijon Marmalade and Field Onions were very tasty appetizers. A crock of Onion Soup Gratinee was very good and cheesy. And a Steakhouse Chopped Salad with Bleu Cheese Dressing and a little bacon was excellent and refreshing.
My 8 oz.Filet Mignon was buttery and further enhanced by Mushroom Gravy and Bearnaise Sauce. A Sauteed Mushroom Medley of Shitake and Button Mushrooms, and rich and luscious disc-shaped Gratinee Potatoes were perfect accompaniments. And Bananas Foster flambeed tableside was a delicious dessert to provide a dramatic finish to our dinner.
Water glasses were regularly refilled, and service was otherwise excellent in all respects. Comfortable booth seating in a richly decorated dining room contributed to a sophisticated yet casual ambiance. - A G.Anchorage, AK85120Dec 27, 2023
We've seen this place as we wandered the casino and decided we were in the mood to try a new steak place. I'm leery of steak places because it seems they always over-cook the steaks, one step above what's requested.
I assume it's because people order what sounds cool, like "medium rare" but then send it back when it's actually medium rare because they don't actually want that "rare" in there. It's unfortunate.
This place was no different. I ordered medium rare (because I actually like it that way) and let the waiter know that they can err on the side of "rare" if they weren't sure--hoping that would indicate, yes, I actually want a red center. It came out (eventually) medium, pink with no red. Even near the bone was mostly medium, and that's usually a whole stage under the temp of the rest of the steak.
I believe there was seasoned butter on top, but it was mild and I needed to salt the meat myself. The quality of the meat was good, it was nice and tender despite being a temp higher than desired.
Server was friendly, I don't remember his name. We ordered drinks. They were fine, but nothing special, and came at the premium prices you'd expect.
The breads that come out are good.
It's a la cart, unless you get something that says otherwise, so the entre is by itself and you pick, and pay extra, for sides. We got salads and they were fine, again, nothing special.
Because there was nothing about it that stood out, it will likely be lost in a sea of steakhouses that overcook your orders (I had to Google the name because I couldn't remember it, if that's any indication).
Nothing wrong with them, the food was not bad, just not memorable. Prices are pretty par-for-course with other steak houses (high), but so is the food.
If you go expecting any other steakhouse, you won't be disappointed. If you go hoping to find a hidden gem, you'll leave feeling underwhelmed.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2Business owner information

Porterhouse steak was overdone, woefully under-seasoned, and simply not a quality cut. Reading another review (after my visit unfortunately), they seem to consistently overcook steak past your requested doneness. Even though it was overdone, I tried to just let it slide. But I had just one bite, and it was so bad that I had to send it back. My wife had the scallops, and they were extremely over-salted. We love salt too, so it was clearly too salty. We only ate 3 out of the 4 scallops.
I've never had food so bad that I had to send it back to the kitchen or write a Yelp review. It's almost comical that there were two plates in one visit that were so bad.
The server and manager were super nice about it and didn't charge us for those plates. Oysters Rockefeller and brussel sprouts were good.
I'm just disappointed that I ended up not having dinner on my birthday. I didn't trust the kitchen to cook a good entree, so we left rather than order something else.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - David G.San Francisco, CA0111Apr 1, 2024
Took my wife and daughter here her 26th birthday. The steaks and sides were amazing and missing absolutely nothing. And for dessert we had cream brûlée, our favorite. Very quiet and intimate place restaurant in the Sunset Station Hotel. The same experience that I had here 25 years ago. Will be back soon enough for awesome food and service.

My review is for the social (happy) hour at Sonoma Cellar.
After playing and winning $40 on the slots, we decided to treat ourselves with a little bite to eat. The bar area at Sonoma Cellar is very relaxing and small. I think there were about 4 or 5 tables plus bar seating.
Our server was very friendly and recommended a tasty cocktail for me (which I've already forgotten the name or what was in it but it was fruity). For food, we got the chef's choice sliders (tasty!) and tots bravas (which were just ok, a little too mushy and I prefer the original version). The complimentary bread was so warm and DELICIOUS, I'd go back just for that.
The price is a bit high for happy hour in my opinion but doesn't break the bank if you hit it big (or small) playing the slots. Hehe.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

It was the bf birthday and we do a steakhouse as a tradition. With his crazy work schedule we couldn't really plan when we could go. We have been wanting to try Sonoma Cellar so we finally got the chance. We were greeted by Rose and she was so nice. Sat us at table but asked for a booth. No problem. It's dim lighting, romantic! Huey was our waiter and he top notch! We started with the seafood jackpot which was delicious. We only ordered 1 on accident lol. It was just enough as we ordered so much food we had leftover for days! It was all delicious and generous sizes. We will be back!

Mediocre food and service and of course over priced from what you're getting. Servers joke at your expense and you're expected to tolerate this kind of treatment with a high end tip LOL. Go to a much better place like Hank's and it'll be worth it.

The hostesses were rude and took long to sit us in a nearly empty restaurant even though we had reservations at 7:45 (seated at 8:05pm). We sat there until 8:13pm when Huey finally came but didn't take our order for drinks or entrees. At 8:23pm he finally returned and took our drink and entree orders...
As we waited we observed Somer who tended to of her tables, took pictures for someone's birthday, got to know the couple at the other table all while clearing out the party table and getting the couple their beverages and meals in a timely manner.
Finally, 20 'til 9pm our appetizers, entrees, and sides came. We were able to enjoy our charred steak that was supposed to be medium well; dry and cold kind crab legs that was accompanied by butter that clearly has been sitting as it had begun to solidify. Than we waited another 25 mins for our bill. It was $325 for the worst service ever and a meh food quality.
If we go back it will be to be with Somer. It took us nearly 2 hours to eat and throughout we observed her attention to her tables, genuine interest in her customers, timely service that I had to ask her her name upon us leaving. She was amazing!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1Business owner information
