We shop at shaws often but almost never this location. Getting to it requires a trip
Down route 1 which is just out of the way. But heading north from Seabrook, we decided to stop in.
One of the best things about shaws is their rewards program. The sale savings are great. But you have to click them ahead of time, and usually like an hour before, not in the parking lot because they don't register at check out in that short of a time period for some reason.
This location is either well stocked or is empty. It seems hit or miss. This week we found almost everything we wanted. So that was good. Some items are so expensive though that we end up going to another grocery store for them.
This place had 4 cars in the parking lot. So shopping was easy-no other customers in our way! Service desk not open, so when they mess up you have to go to the back of the line and wait for them to fix their mistake. And only one register open. I would guess this place will close when their lease is up.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Just went to Hampton Shaw's Friday morning. New remodeled store looks good. Now let's talk deli service. Nice lady but very slow and other guy cutting meat. I think it took 20 minutes for my 3 items. Also could stand the wait so left. I go back for one item in drli young guy talking, and I ask to see cut and looked like I was crazy. So as a shopper at Shaws not great customer service.

I should have known better than to buy anything from the Shaw in Hampton that isn't the most lilly white produce on the planet. Anything besides a potato in this place is sure to be rotten. Here's my $6.00 coconut just purchased this morning 9/20/2022. I have been rooked by this location more than a few times with yogurt past it's expiration date, a burrata so old the printed date on the inside of the lid has transposed on to the cheese and now this, unbelievable! With the cost of food doubling and still rising daily it's almost cruel to leave unchecked overpriced expired items out for some other sucker to grab. A bit of advice, steer clear of this place unless your purchasing Twinkies or Windex everything else is questionable at best.

We often shop here because it is close by. Prices are higher than Market Basket but it is never very busy so we can get in and out. Today I was disturbed by the checker telling us the flu was going around there and that three workers had just called in sick. Then why wasn't she (and the other workers) wearing a mask?? I will stay away until I hear they are. Glad I was wearing mine.

This is an older and dirty store. Customer service is non existent and management is just plain rude. No wonder Shaws stores are fewer and further between these days. So many other better options in the area.

The store is satisfactory in many regards, and has a rather convenient location. Shaw's Signature Brand is one of the reasons why I'm willing to drop by this location occasionally, despite the higher prices.
Over the last three months I have considered making this store a one of my regular locations to visit, but unfortunately despite having early hours, the store is often not ready to do business when it opens; making it less than ideal for anyone who wishes to frequent it before heading in to work.
The deli is often not ready to take orders, and that might be okay if they'd already stocked the exterior shelves with something, but this has commonly not been the situation.
The single most problematic issue, however, is the lack of cashiers to check people out. And when I say lack, I mean none whatsoever. There is only ever one register lit up, and it often has no one at it. Additionally, there is no self-checkout line, so I can't check out my own groceries when no staff are available. Sometimes an employee is nearby to address this issue, but often times not. I've even gotten what I'll call "less than helpful" responses from staff when inquiring about whether there's anyone available for the register.
I suspect that the slow customer traffic in the morning means there is little demand for someone to be at the register constantly, and there might be a culture at play here that insists an employee isn't allowed to be idle at the machine, but if so then this might be a self-fulling problem. If a manager isn't willing to keep an eye on what customer traffic there is to ensure that a cashier is notified to return to their station, then there is no excuse for letting the cashier work away from their station in the first place.
Sadly, I am giving up on making this location part of my regular shopping circuit. There are at least three other large grocery stores located along this road which I can make use of.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - S W.Lexington, MA127Jul 29, 2018
So MANY things are overpriced here, compared to Market Basket, or Hannaford. The main reason I go there is b/c they do have good sales on certain items at times. But I try to not buy much else except for stocking up on a sales item or 2.
Last week I was there, & "vine ripened" tomatos were $2.99/lb. At Market Basket, or Hannaford, or Wal-mart, they're routinely either $1.49 or $1.99/lb.
And their Deli Dept. SUCKS. Not a very good selection, & trying to get served can be almost impossible, even if you're the only customer. Last week, in the morning, I was the only customer, & there was one Deli employee. She finally started to wait on me, then ran over to have a several-minute conversation with her Manager (I guess). She would come back to me, then go running back to the Manager guy, this went on, & on, & after about 10 minutes I finally started yelling at them "Excuse Me, EXCUSE ME!" All I wanted was ONE THING, which then sucked, when I got it home.
The little Hannaford in Hampton is about 10 times better of a grocery store, with way better prices overall. Their Deli Dept. meats are way tastier--the Hannaford store brand--& they always have at least 2 Deli. employees, even in the early A.M.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Spucky50 ..Portsmouth, NH04Feb 2, 2021
Sales are good, but otherwise prices higher than competitors. Frequent price errors on sale and markdowns, due to computer issues. Have to watch closely.
However, being yelled at by the person at the seafood counter last Sunday was a bad experience. The display was open, as she stocked it from behind, although it was an hour past opening time. I wanted the shrimp that was on sale for my 3 year old grandson. When associate asked what I wanted, I leaned forward to hear her, as I'm hard of hearing, and she was wearing a mask. She yelled at me " get away from the product, get away from the product," although I was several feet away, and wearing a mask. Needless to say, I didn't want the shrimp after being humiliated. I told the manager, paid for my groceries, and left. It was a really bad experience. We are all stressed by the pandemic, but treating an elderly customer like a dog that peer on the rug a unacceptable.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - C T.Sunnyside, Queens, NY010Dec 4, 2020
People complain that it's overpriced, but that comes with a benefit: rarely crowded. They also enforce mask wearing and people seem to adhere to the one way aisles. My go to supermarket in pandemic times. Don't mind paying a premium to stay alive.
