I give this business a five star rating all the way. There are three amazing rooms for Dance plus the bonus, outdoor floor when the weather is nice. The instructors for both the Fitness and ballroom dance classes are inclusive, welcoming, and friendly, in addition to knowledgeable in their dance category. Socials on the weekends are so much fun and you can meet lots of new people and dance the night away. If you want a fun place to work out and build your muscles or cardio this is the perfect place. The fitness community here is like no other. They are so inclusive and welcoming. The classes can benefit both beginners and Long Time fitness people. I am so happy to be a part of the special community and plan to be for the foreseeable future

Also, as a bonus, the facility is clean and well-maintained. Shawn and all her employees do a great job making SGD and Diva Den run smoothly. I've been a member of mini other gyms/fitness facilities and then have been maintained better than SGD.

Very popular. Special events have bands and multiple dance styles in various rooms inc. Country, West Coast, Salsa, Bachata and Country swing. We do wish that she would offer more Ballroom as it is not on their schedule of classes or events.

We all count Shawn Gardner Dancing as our go to for fun. There are other places we go, but this is on our list. You must like busy places on the Fridays or it may not be for you. We like the energy.

Regardless of "personalities" by the owner or managers, which we have never had a bad experience with, we don't go there to schmooze the staff. We go to have fun.

It's a lovely space and their instructors are very knowledgeable. I think if Covid wasn't going on, I would give this a five stars; those coming here really seem to enjoy the place.
However, I was not under the impression that masks wouldn't be worn here. I don't need a reply to this from the owner - I know you've already put stuff up about how the studio doesn't apply the state's mask policy. It just made me super uncomfortable - especially because another patron got in my face to tell me I didn't need to wear a mask there. It would be one thing if everyone was spread out, but it's not.
So - dancing space? Cool. Mask rules? No thanks. That's just how I personally feel about the disregard to Covid, and if you feel the same way, then I wouldn't bother coming here.

Love this place! Shawn does a great job keeping ballroom, Latin, and country dancing open in PDX. I have so many positive things to say about SGD and I am constantly trying to get my friends to come try it out.

Personally, I try to go *at least* once a week and I'd love to go more if I could! The lessons are fun, the socials are a BLAST, and there are so many unique features that SGD offers to make them stand out: tacos, bar, multiple ballrooms, outdoor dancing... Oh! And the membership program?? An absolute steal!

Honestly, dancing changed my life. I've met so many great people (especially at SGD) and had so many wonderful experiences. I am thrilled to continue dancing at such an awesome location!

For those just looking for a venue, the facility itself is beautiful and definitely worth checking out as a rental (especially as the rainy season starts limiting us to indoor locations). The space is open, well ventilated, has a kitchen, balconies, and three rooms (plus the outdoor space) available for use. Parking lot plus lots of easy street parking makes it easy for large groups. Plus, I've always felt safe walking to and from my car at night.

There's honestly so much more I could say about Shawn's but you definitely need to check it out. Come to a Friday social sometime, I'll seeya there!

I love going to Shawns!Why?Because of the big spacious & professional floors!Even outdoors, a lot of fun in the summer!Especially the live music !Everyone is passionate about dancing here , and it's fun each time because they are also kind and great teachers!To shit talkers : some people just feel uncomfortable in their own body , but instead of deal with it from within, they quickly find someone to blame for it !This school is doing something very important; keep it going and alive when everyone else shuts down !So for us who wants to keep on living it's crucial!

Horrible first experience. Beginning hip hop I was happy the lights were fun and the ladies were supportive. Then some manager ignored OUR (plural) request to keep the lights low then started snapping photos of us while older dudes just start filing in watching my booty roll. I flipped when I told her politely I dont give permission to use my image..
. She said she already posted it.

First, it's illegal. Second it's a safety issue for me!

Do not go there if you do not want to be in a fishbowl, multiple people just walking through your class watching and talking. I was appalled that this was happening. They do not listen or care about your experience. Just how it looks on their site.

Be a school, make sure you have some paperwork disclosing what you should expect, respect your students learning process and for God's sakes put your Phone down!!!

Ps. I have 20+ years of dance experice and I have never seen such disregard for student privacy.

I've made it to 6 salsa dance lessons and LOVE IT! Shawn makes it so fun and as easy as possible. I hope to keep going for a long time.

Shawn also promotes salsa dancing in the community and welcomes all her students to come dance at local venues. A great way to get practice and use the skills you learn every week.

Such a fun place! The owner/instructor Shawn is patient and encouraging. Great date night for a couple or girls night with friends. Highly recommend to up your dancing skills and feel more confident on the floor. So glad this place exists! Check em out:)

Zumba is so much fun here on the fancy dance floor with the night club lighting. The instructor Britney is great and brings a lot of energy to class. I didn't have the same experience as the last reviewer. I've been there for a couple of months now and never experienced anyone taking pictures or walking through class.
