      Love the concept!

Was there mid-Sept, and did not have any luck. What I heard from locals is that the pond is stocked on occasion, and events are organized around it. Leads me to conclude that if you tap into an event when pond was recently stocked, you will be lucky. Else, may be disappointed.

Lots of parking, there is a toilet, multiple seating & table areas. Very pleasant & peaceful.

Beautiful quiet day eating lunch by this pond.

Awesome place for snow sledding. How fun! Few people, not much parking but a blast! I don't know about the fishing but will be back for the sledding.
BTW the listed address is wrong!

Excellent place for kids to fish! Guaranteed to catch good sized Rainbow's as we were 0 for 3 fishing off the shore of the lake. Best of all it's free! They aren't charging you by the pound, like you expect at a Trout farm. Picnic benches and clean non flush bathrooms. Perfect place for your kids to experience the joy and excitement of catching their own dinner.

This pond is for kids 14 and under to fish, with no license. I tried fishing here with my niece and the fish must have gotten the memo that adults are outlawed because my 8 year old niece caught 4 trout while I caught knowing looks from other adults.
My niece was using night crawlers and the fish seem to become pretty active later in the evening, at about 6 or so. Both days we came here were pretty good for catching dinner. Luckily, no rangers came by on either day but I was on the lookout for Smokey the whole time!

My niece Kendal with 3 of the 4 trout she caught!

A nice fishing pond for kids age 14 and under, no license required.

Because the pond is, well, a pond, and not a lake, the fish are on the small side also. But that's fine because this is a great place to teach kids to fish and you're not coming here to catch your dinner.

If you want to eat the fish go the the great Tahoe Trout Farm and pay to fish...it's worth it!

Back to Sawmill Pond...the only thing keeping me giving a better review is the apparent lack of ranger presence to ensure only the kids are fishing and to keep out the smoking, beer and loud music. That crowd is the exception, thankfully, but that no one is there to patrol for that is an issue.

This place is great anytime of year. We caught one fish and had tons of fun playing in the dirt around the pond.

Went fishing with my niece. In the evening, we didn't catch anything. We came back the next day and caught 1 trout using a lure. Caught 1 using nightcrawlers bought at K-mart or Raley's at the Y. We don't check that until we're leaving.

Another year with my son and daughter using nightcrawlers again, reeled in a trout when we were done. 1 of the rangers did see me with a pole in my hand, he said that my kids have to be holding the pole. It's a nice little spot. We bring out lunch and play music while fishing. The best part is showing the kids how to hook a worm. And having them reel in a catch. For free.

If adults want to "fish", go to Tahoe trout farm. It's a much shorter wait to catch trout, maybe 2 minutes. Kids don't get bored.

Small little pond but great place for kids to learn to fish or to practice. We were there 4 1/2 hours and caught 3 fish.

Great Experience. My daughters first time fishing, the staff was awesome. They clean the fish for us, guaranteed catch. Highly recommend
