I would rate their claims department as a zero star if that was possible. I have had a claim since June 27th 23 and till this date, September 29th, 2023, my car still sits damaged with cobwebs now growing on the damaged parts. I have made over 33 phone calls to my assigned adjuster with not one single return call. I would never recommend this company. I am now working the Illinois department of insurance regarding many violations that they have done and now attempting to charge me storage fees for a vehicle that they did not go out and assess for over a week. I make my monthly payment to them each month and since my accident the only thing I receive in the mail is my monthly bill. Worst company I have ever dealt with.

Their insurer hit my daughter from behind. Drugie pops out of the car swearing and yelling at my kid for hitting her because she was following too close! This is what Safeway says...

We have attempted to appraise fairly and properly all the information and reports available to us regarding this occurrence. Being guided by these facts, it is our conclusion that our assured is not legally responsible for your damage. We regret to advise you, therefore, that we will be unable to pay your claim. Our denial is based on our insured's statement indicating you attempted to make a sudden lane change, without proper signaling, then suddenly stopped diagonally across both lanes of traffic causing the collision.

This company is a total wreck no pun intended.
My car was hit by one of their clients in my driveway
Hit passenger side door and bent my tire.
This is going on 3 weeks. I have no car at all. Asked them about a rental was told so sorry.
The claims adjuster has no Customer Service Skills.
Keep getting still working on investigation
3 weeks this is crazy.

is there any way to put 0 stars? got there 30 min before they closed, the girl didn't want to open the door! she tried saying they were closed but the moment the owner showed up she acted all nice. talk about being a hypocrite, she then claimed that the door was jammed. Middle aged lady in about her 30-40's, really should consider firing her!

This company and its employees are literally the worst people ! Their insured hit my parked car and totaled it over 3months ago! They refuse to pay me the correct amount for the car; missing some of my features like my remote starter claiming they need the window sticker. when I provided them with the window sticker she says she can add an additional $100. for a remote starter! Please spare yourself the headache if you ever have to deal with them; just go straight to court! That's the only way.

If you're looking for a trustworthy insurance, Safeway insurance is not the right one.
I got a accident, the damage of my car is over $2,000, the adjuster give me only $800 and she tell me you can keep the car .
This is Safeway Insurance Company regarding your claim. Your vehicle has been deemed a total loss. Please contact your total loss adjuster, Anna Cotsiomitis and reference your claim number to discuss the settlement of your claim.

There is a reason for why safeway insurance has a one star rating. Quite frankly, if I could give them negative 5, i would absolutely do that. And it still wouldn't quite express how bad of an insurance company they are. Seriously, stay away from them. The body shops they pick are very inconveniently located, do a very crappy job and take literally forever to fix the car.
Try calling your agent, especially Janet. She should get the reward for the least helpful, most annoyed worker of the year. Never ever EVER answers the phone, never calls back. Always talks with a very rude tone. The one you should definitely not use talking to a customer.

GOD HELP YOU if you ever have one of their insured hit your car. Total nightmare. No one returns calls, figures anything out, can't answer simple questions. Totally incompetent. It's truly a shame when someone wrecks your car with cheap, crappy insurance. Not only was I NOT the one who totaled my car, but I have to pay out of pocket for the deductible since nobody on Safeway's end does anything, even when I wasn't at fault. Bulllllshit ass insurance. I wouldn't even give them 1 star.

Well where can I start this insurance is a JOKE. You can call them all day they will not call you back! Also as well you will get their voicemail. I been without my car for 5 weeks now.
They told me I have to do a drive by estimate. I told him that there is more problems to my car then just what they see they IGNORED me so my mechanic stripped my car and called them again and now they won't pay for my other asked estimate. I'm sitting in the Safeway offices right now trying to get them to settle a claim from a year and a half ago. Their drunk driver totaled both of our cars at 4:30am in March of 2013. They have been terrible about communicating. They don't return calls, they don't return emails, and the estimate to repair my Subaru was ridiculously low. Their driver totaled my husband's Jeep Cherokee, hitting it so hard that it was on my Subaru's hood, peeling the car back like a can opener. Thank goodness we were all inside asleep. Please avoid Safeway Insurance. They've been a nightmare to deal with. Hundreds of hours wasted. I honestly believe they were hoping I'd get frustrated and walk away.
