In town for the Half Ironman Musselman. As I was about to bring my bike to be checked in, my tire valve broke. Came in when they opened and the two people who helped me were beyond helpful, genuinely kind, and very efficient as I was in an out in 10 mins.
It is greatly appreciated and would highly recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - William P.Kissimmee, FL017Jul 27, 2023
Absolutely awesome place to rent a bike when in the Rochester area. Erie canal trail is super convenient (end of the block) and bikes were very reasonable and in excellent condition. Doug (owner) was very helpful and accommodating and we will rent again when we are back in Rochester.

Shopped their sidewalk sale at today's (6/5/21) Canal Festival. Good selection of accessories and competitive prices.

This place is just OK. They did a significant amount of work on my road bike and my initial impression was that the work was properly completed, but here I am a year later routinely discovering little areas (as well as a few obvious ones) where they clearly cut corners. Thankfully I've acquired the necessary tools to do the work myself since then and won't need to return.

Best shop in "town", my only complaint is their location. I wish the had a shop closer to the city. It's a pilgrimage from Irondequoit to get to Fairport.

I've always seen this bike shop and thought it was such a nice place. It has its own little parking lot and the interior is very nice. I walked in and started looking around and I was surprised to see how far it went back. I asked the worker at the counter about the bikes and he was very knowledgeable and showed me right where I should look for the type of riding I do. They even let me test drive the bike I liked! I loved everything about my trip there and got a beautiful new bike out of it!

I am a very occasional biker, only a few times a year, enough to own a bike versus renting, but not into it enough to warrant a fancy sporty bike. I simply needed something recreational to get from A to B.
That is not what this store sells. Last July (2015) I took my old bike in for them to consign/resell because I wanted a different style of bike l. They quickly took it and gave me a store credit.
Well, I walked around the store after getting my credit (which was really not much considering how much my bike was worth) and everything in there is several hundred dollars. You can't even find a bike for as low as $300.
I realize now that this store is only for people who bike passionately as a primary hobby and want to spend over $500 (and that's on the very low end of options here) on a bike.
However, before they were so quick to capitalize on the profit they saw when I walked in the door, they should have warned me that my trade credit would barely put a dent in the cost of something new there; or at least told me to walk around and check inventory first, which I wasn't even given the chance to do. They whisked my bike away from me and stuck a paper slip in my hand. I feel that informing me would have been the honest and appropriate thing to do.
Now I have an old credit I will likely never be able to use because I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a simple get from A to B bicycle. I go in the store every time I'm out near Fairport, hoping I'll finally find a good old boring basic bike, and the inventory never seems to be remotely affordable- I've been scouting there for a full year now. No luck finding something reasonably priced. Plus on more than one occasion when Ive asked them to show me the sale or cheaper options because I'm not an avid cyclist, they've reacted like I had tree heads.
Really disappointed, I should have just sold my bike on Craigslist and bought a new one from the big box chain stores, which these guys can't compete with because they don't offer ANY affordable inventory for basic occasional biking. Not even one or two models.
If you're a cycle enthusiast with the funds to put towards funky sport bikes with tons of bells and whistles this place is probably great for you. If you just want a basic bike that doesn't break the bank, then steer clear!
Being located directly on a popular bike trail for families with kids (who grow so fast nobody would want to spend a lot of money on their bikes!) you'd think they'd offer more in the way of affordable basic bicycles....
Please, please check out their inventory before you decide to consign a bike here... make sure they give you the chance to look around before just snapping up your bike too!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jessica E.Penfield, NY041Sep 5, 2017
We brought our sons bike here to have it repaired. After two weeks we finally received word that it was done! Hurray!! Wrong. The bike was still in the same condition it was when we dropped it off. When we asked for a manager a man came out and seemed annoyed and offered no explanation.

We went here to rent two bikes to ride along the canal. The owner was very nice and courteous. Bike rental is $10 per hour or $30 for a whole day which is from noon to 5:00 PM on Sundays. The rate was a little bit steep IMO but that's compared to what I used to pay for rental bikes in Los Angeles. Basket, helmets and a lock was included in the price and we got a $10 refund because we returned the bikes after two hours.
Richard ( the owner I assume) was very nice and friendly and made sure the seats are properly adjusted before we left his shop. RV&E is literally across the canal, so rent a bike from here and you are a minute away from the amazing trail that goes on for many miles along the canal! What a nice scenery it was! I genuinely enjoyed the ride notwithstanding the price.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jackie M.Fairport, NY126935Jan 10, 2020
My husband called RV&E to see if they could check the tires on my 8 year old Bumbleride stroller since we couldn't get them to stay inflated. Andy told us we could bring it in and he'd likely have it back to us the same day. He gave us an estimate on what it would cost to do the labor and replace the tubes on each tire. After just a couple hours Andy called and said only one tire tube needed to be replaced and he inflated the other tires for us for free, making the actual cost only $16. Such a bargain for great service and a fast turn-around. The stroller pushes like a dream again. We briefly walked around the store to check out the inventory and there are a lot of really nice bikes, helmets, cycling shoes, apparel, and accessories, as well as skates and skating accessories for sale. We will definitely be back for bike and stroller service and also the next time we need to buy a new bike!
