Interesting Saturday Night downtown. No one place seemed to keep our attention like this place. First it's creepy as hell to find the place. It's been raining through much of the day. Rain has stopped but the area is still wet. It's dark and you are out with some girls and we've all already had at least one drink. A friend gets a call for us to meet him at this place. Seems easy until you find yourself down an alley.

I was hoping a Michael Jackson video would start but still thinking ID TV vibe. Kinda creepy.
When you're in heels and have been drinking, wet stairs just look like a hard stage in Doom. Once inside I was underwhelmed. Nice spot - kinda small. Long bar to the right and dj blasting directly in front with a wall of very drunk birthday celebrating VIPs.

Bartender checked id and then poured a nice strong drink, That's when it hits me that the place doesn't seem to have any security? I watched a dude set up some tables for hookah and the drunk party became our entertainment.

Birthday girl was on a dangerous level of drunk. Her sh*tty friends drank around and over her as her face was in the pillows of seats. She's helped up to go to the bathroom to puke her lungs out. Her friends take picks in the cute mirrored "Selfie" mirror and she says she's ready to go home.Later when we are ready to leave this same girl and her friends pretty much crawl down the steps. To some that was a great night. To me that's some scary sh*t.

Service was nice. Drinks were mixed well. Dj was pretty cool. I can't help but think of Final Destination and no form of security just in case something went left. So this is A-OK for me.

Wait. Where are we? Why is our friend leading us down a dark alley? Why are we climbing these stairs? Why are we walking into a nightclub?! Wait...why is there no one checking IDs? No cover? Sure, we'll go in!

Walking into a nightclub (after some bar hopping, and admittedly a little tipsy) felt like walking into a time machine. Suddenly we were all 21 again and taking shots of Patron (this really happened). YOLO.

The club isn't massive - but they had a drummer perched up top of a ledge drumming along to the songs. They were hip-hop songs. This might not sound cool, but it's absolutely awesome and adds such a different element to it.

A couple of shady characters here and there - but for the most part everyone was super respectful and the music was decent (very hip hop heavy).

We didn't stay long, as we had a lot more ORL bars to conquer but it was a very interesting spot to stop in while bar/club hopping.

You wouldn't even know this place is there if you weren't really looking for it. Rok Room is tucked away at the end of an alley behind Antigua. Rok Room plays what can be described as hip-hop/rock mixes. Not sure if that's even a genre but... think of The Police mixed over a Timbaland beat. It's fun!

I've been here on quite a few occasions and while I usually arrive early to a pretty empty place... by 11:30-12 the place is PACKED. It's hard to get a spot at the bar and you have to really squeeze your way in.

The bartenders are quick and attentive. The drinks are STRONG! I didn't really get a snobby vibe from this place. Dress is casual! There's not really any dancing going on. There's two bars - one main bar running the length of the place and one small bar tucked in the corner. There's a few benches and tables to sit at and a VIP lounge area with a few couches.

All in all, this is a nice place to stop in and get your evening started.

What an excellent hidden gem. This place is basically behind Antigua on Church St. The only indication that it existed was a little sign on the side walk.

Well of course it's safe to walk down an alley in downtown Orlando. It is actually well lit, and safe. When we got to the door there was no cover charge...definitley a plus. We got there kind of early (maybe 10:30), and it was kind of dead. We thought we were only going to stay for an hour, but with the 2 for 1 drinks...how could I not stay longer!

The drinks were definitely nice and strong and the music was very diverse..from 80s Rock to modern Hip Hop and Dance music. Really nicely dressed crowd and cute bartenders. My only complaint would be the size, but that actually gives it a more exclusive feel.

Replacing Ybor's and at least one other failed downtown destination, Rok Room is a huge improvement to the previous residents above Antigua.

The scene: The set up is pretty cool, with white couches and VIP lounges, as well as a few scattered setting areas for us 'little people'. The DJ is also located on a platform above your head, with a viewing couch that while I've never seen anyone use, I'd love to hang out up there for a night.

The drinks: Be careful here- I got way overcharged last time I opened a tab, and somehow 4 drinks ended up costing me over $50. I'm pretty sure a few people took advantage of my tab, but still, I definitely recommend paying cash or individually closing out your tab each time.

The pours are good, but definitely not as strong as they could be. Depending on the crowd, you may be waiting a bit longer then you'd like for drinks as well, so stock up on your first trip.

The music: They play a lot of (shocking) rock, but also mix in a lot of top 40, rap, and some old school favorites. This is one of my favorite places to dance, though the crowd is usually more interested in drinking and finding an..ahem...new friend, then dancing.

The rest: The cover is great aka- there is none. While you may end up sitting in an empty bar for the first hour or so, usually it goes from zero to packed by midnight. My recommendation would be to make this your last stop of the night.

Also- bring an umbrella and be careful on the stairs! On my visit last night, it was POURING and it looked like the floods from the Titanic were coming down the roof onto the only entrance to the bar. We risked it, failed miserably in the execution, but ended up having a blast anyway. Hey, the drowned rat look is in.

2 -4 -1 on domestic beers on Fridays. But don't try giving the bartender a nice, fat tip for a smile or even to have her stiffen your drink. She will probably not even say thank you and just slap it off the bar.

Nice decor, and mostly a sausage-fest. Don't mind the little baggies of cocaine on the floor either, they are always there... They also have a dancer on a box every once in a while. But she looks like a crack head and can't dance. I've seen some really good go-go dancers and this is NOT one of them.

Visited here last year during our Orlando vacation. The location was a bit hard to find. Down an alley.. With bums asking you for change.. Inside, the decor was very nice and upscale. We had to pay $5 per person for cover.
The place was packed, and we felt totally out of place. Everyone was dressed for the red carpet and we were in shorts. We were getting stared at by everyone, the employees as well as the clients.
Drinks were over priced, there were hardly any places to sit at. Most of our group were standing. We wanted to leave after about 10 mins there!
Ambiance was nice and all but the atmosphere made us feel like we were not welcome..

Again, this club has a lot of potential, but is still not cashing in on it...

We came in late on a Friday night when it should be "hopping", but it was empty and only the bar-sponsored dance girls that showed up on top of the bar for a few songs kept people from leaving. It seems that the Rok room always has some wanna-be DJ that is ruining what could be a unique hot place in downtown's back alley. The cowd is usually mixed, so I do not understand why they are not true to their name and actually play rock! Instead, after 10pm-ish, they blast the same lame tunes like every other club in downtown and miss out on capturing Orlando's rock niche market... The 20-some DJ does not play any requests and his standard excuse is "I don't have it" although he is connected to all music sources online... The club has a big Kurt Cobain poster on the wall, but when I asked for a Nirvana song the DJ just gave me a look as if I'm from a different planet. It's called the Rok Room so play some rock, dammit!

I still give the club a couple of stars, because the bar service is always friendly, the drink prices ok, and there is consistently no cover charge.

I will stop by a few more times with my hopes up for a real rock experience at the Rok Room, but unless the management changes, I doubt that it's going to happen :(

Not sure how this place has such good reviews. Walk past here on a Thursday night and see two couples grinding in the middle of the place. The bouncers second as promoters trying (begging) you to walk into the place. I have never been here and not felt lonely because it is literally you standing there with friends looking around, staring, hoping for about another 100 people to show. The crowd here is not my type of people, doesn't mean they aren't great people but it is more of the get f*ked up and find a random guy to dance/get with type of crowd. The poor bartenders can not make a sustainable living working here because half the time they stand there aimlessly bored. This place has great potential I guess they just need a better following and marketing.
