Pao de queijo is ok, pretty standard, not as light or fresh as others. Shrimp empada and palm empadas are great.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 28, 2024Previous reviewHave only visited the bakery and grocery sections. Lots of unique Brazilian items. Enjoyed the baked shrimp empada best, the codfish croquette had good flavor but was somewhat dry. Would return to try the pao de queijo when they're not out.

Was craving a hearty Brazilian lunch after days of rain. For $19 you get a buffet bar , that has all the Brazilian specialities, including traditional black beans and pork meat stew Feijoada. All the side dishes are here too. I also tried salada russa and bobo camarao. All were very tasty and hearty. Afterwards did a little shopping at the market that has loads of imported Brasilian goodies, like pao de queijo, and has a full meat counter for all kinds of sausages and other meat cuts if you want to do your own churrasco etc.

No Internet service is available in the store. I had to check in before I came inside. I do not use public WiFi due to hacking concerns.
Some staff assisted me in buying popular Brazilian food. I got what I could not get in a typical Brazilian restaurant: Baked Garlic and Parmesan Yucca Snack; and Cheese-bread Waffles. I paid $5.58. There was no tax.
If I like what I purchased, I will come back.
The store decor needs updating, and somebody needs to clean the floors and organize the shelves a bit. That is why I am giving this grocery store a three star review.Helpful 20Thanks 0Love this 15Oh no 0 - Andre G G.New York, NY0282Oct 11, 2023
Food is ok. ( not great though) You pay by the pound/kilo. They weigh your plate first, before you pay. Scale isn't working properly. It charged me twice as much before I raise a red flag. They did it again and correct price was half of the previous one. Weird....Also I bought a $3.00 empanada but I was charged 15.00. Got a refunded. Keep your eyes open if you ever decided to patronize the venue. Reliability....0

Really really good food. The presentation speaks for itself. The only qualm is the buffet table. You have no idea who touched the food prior to you arriving. Luckily I arrived this morning when they were prepping the food. I decided to try the mango juice and it wasn't how I thought it would taste but it hit the spot. The woman behind the counter was very polite. There are also options behind the counter that are made when ordered.

I usually come here but today was very odd. I was the next in line to order some pastries. The guy right in front of me made his order and the cashier asked if he want coffee as well. He said no and was when she replied: why? You don't want to turn black?
As a black brazilian myself I was a little surprised and frustraded. Not because of the racism. But she is always nice and writing about God on the packages. I really hope she is only having a bad day and chose her words wrongly. I hope.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ling C.New York, NY06Mar 26, 2023
This is a review for the food. I love the coxinhas with cheese. They are big and delicious. However, I'm guessing the chef changed over the last year or so and the beef stroganoff took a turn for the worst. There is barely any meat, and the meat that is there is in tiny little pieces. I only order coxinhas from here now, and I order beef stroganoff from Favela.

To be quite honest, I ventured into this Brazilian spots ages ago. And the only note I had on my bookmark was CHEESE (yes, in all caps)
All joking aside, some real authentic eats and options here. Astoria continues to keep the diverse options coming, for decades now. Gentrification hasn't really affected this neighborhood as most boroughs have.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
