We love going to Rio, for dinner, drinks, and birthdays. However, me and some girlfriends came for drinks today and got harassed by a customer who was over served. We saw her harass multiple other customers as well. She sat down at our table uninvited, and made us very uncomfortable. She was cutoff by the bartender, and after which she stole one of our drinks from us. We complained to our server, the bartender who cut her off, the hostesses, and the manager and asked them to remove her, if not from the premises as least from our table, and no one said a thing or removed her. Keep in mind, we told the bartender who cut her off that she stole a drink from us and he did not care. The minute she left our table we tried to escape the restaurant and closed out our tab as soon as possible. The server overcharged us by $30-40 (admittedly), but we shouldn't have been charged at all with the way our experience went. This treatment was ridiculous from all workers involved. We talked to at minimum 6 employees about this issue with no resolve. We are so disappointed in Rio for this treatment and the way the restaurant handled the situation. We will not be returning. (Only leaving 5 so this rating is listed high - would like everyone to me aware of what type of establishment this is)

The food was delicious, friendly & helpful
waitress. My cocktail was packed with an
alcoholic punch and was yummy. The atmosphere
at Rio Grande was relaxed and comfy. I was also pleasantly surprised at the reasonable price
at the end of our meal. We definitely will be
going back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 27, 2024
Came here after visiting the farmers market across the street, it was ok. The service was friendly and kind, the ambiance was great, but the food needs some work.
I ordered the fish and shrimp soup, the amount of fish and shrimp was great but the broth was not flavorful at all. I wish it was a little stronger flavor wise, maybe some spice would have been nice as well. It had a sweetness that I did not enjoy and it was borderline bland. The shrimp were huge though and I did really enjoy biting into those. My husband had the tortilla soup and he said his was good, it feels like maybe they water down the flavor to make their dishes palatable to an American client which is understandable. The kids meals (chicken tenders and quesadilla) were ok as well. All in all, if the food was tweaked a bit this could be a great place.
The michelada was tasty though, I can see myself coming back for drinks.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Felicia C.Georgetown, TX1364380Feb 26, 2024
Not a place to go relax but to have some margaritas! It was a bit loud in this establishment and lots of passer bys by the table. The star of the show here is the margaritas and they have a ground beef queso that is delish. I enjoyed the charro beans and my husband's Chimichanga was delicious with the green sauce.
My plate on the other hand did not go so well. The taco shell was soggy so my taco was collapsing as I tried to eat it lol. The enchiladas we also not so hot of an item. The cheese enchilada had cheese that was not melted or even warm. The beef enchilada was not hot or appetizing. I ate the filling with the rice from the beef enchilada. Wouldn't say I'd be back for a meal but def for apps and drinks.
It does get quite busy as they have a great happy hour with yummy margaritas i know for sure. Every table around us had one so I feel confident in saying that.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Theresa C.Buckingham, Arlington, VA0123Feb 13, 2024
The service was fast and responsive the entire meal. The Skinny Margarita with Tajin is amazing! What the chips lack in flavor the salsa makes up for. While sitting at my table and observing the bar area, I could tell that a lot of people like coming here for drinks.
My son who is an official refried beans taste tester said the refried beans were a 4.1 on a 5 star scale. The flour tortillas we ordered didn't get eaten because he was too full.
I had the stuffed chicken avocado which comes with a cheese enchilada and a side or rice and refried beans(no rice for me I ordered a double refried). If my son still wants more refried beans, he asks for mine. The crust on the avocado was different, not bad but made from masa I think but well formed and a bit salty maybe too much when paired with the cheese sauce. I really like how the avocado and shredded chicken was prepared though. I enjoyed the cheese quesadilla with the red sauce and thought it had just enough flavor to not over do it and would really like to try their chicken enchiladas sometime.
The ambiance is not so great for a dinner meal. It's too bright and felt like I was under a spot light the whole meal. Hopefully, the managers will read this and make the change to lower the lights a bit. This place has potential. Ambience goes a long way. Would have given 4 stars if it wasn't sooo bright.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 29, 2023Updated review
Although a bit farther then there old PF location, its still worth the drive from Manor. The egg rolls alone are worth the drive. Service was great as usual and the place is always clean. We have been thru most of the menu, but we have settled on our favorites. Wife does the Beef Chiladas, double rice and mine is the Chicken with Guajillo sauce....I feel it the best sauce they offer. Its definitely a destination spot for us.
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Apr 21, 2021Previous reviewOur first visit to the Hutto Location....Like the set up of the place...Promptly seated and the staples hit the table...2 waters, Queso, Chips and Salsa...Everything was good...although the Salsa was a bit off for us...We have visited the Pflugerville Location for years, and personally we feel they have some of the best Salsa in town...The Hutto location was night and day different...Dont get us wrong, it was still good, but we miss the spicy kick we are use to. This was more tomato based as the PF has a more smoky flavor. Service was great...The Mexican Eggrolls are a must have when we go...if you havent tried them, you are truly missing out. Wife went with her usual with beef Chiladas, double rice and Chipotle Sauce. One thing that sets RG apart from other place is there sauces...lots to choose from and one of my favorite is the Poblano Sauce...and it pairs great with the chicken. Beans and rice are always good. I had to knock a star for the Salsa, but that a personal preference...and we would come back in a second.

Consistently good food and the staff is always got a sense of urgency and is friendly.
So far I've only had good experiences minus one time waiting about 20 minutes for our check. But it was a very busy evening so no biggie.
I've tried a variety of dishes and they are always hot, fresh and delicious. They also have one of my favorite Tex-max appetizers, Mexican egg rolls. They are so good.
Their chips aren't my favorite, they are kinda hard, but the salsa is fantastic. Their beans and rice are consistently good and never disappoint.
Their drink menu is pretty big so if you like specialty margaritas this is the place.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tone P.Hutto, TX02Feb 16, 2024
Breakfast tacos were horrible. The salsa is good but the chips are not. They taste generic

One of the best Tex-Mex restaurants in the area! Loved the chimichanga which left me full! Excellent service with a helpful suggestion to get the large queso

Let me start off by saying I never even knew this place existed. A local resident told me about the food and recommended I try it. So, we tried it one time and was impressed with the food. And I decided this place would be nice to have a birthday party with my family and friends! BIG MISTAKE ON MY PART! Here comes the breakdown..... I tried to communicate on several
occassions with the restaurant that I would have a MEDIUM size group of people for dinner. I emailed Raquel on Thursday and never got an email back. So, I called and I was told by staff member to ask for a table on yelp.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place for medium to large size group celebrations because if 1 extra person comes last minute the management team will get pissed off. Me being the birthday girl was reprimanded by the person in charge of restaurant to not move any tables and the mean glares by the other wait staff that were OFFENDED by our actions by moving 1 table to accommodate my party AND I told our waiter and got the ok... The message of this review is THEY DONT HAVE ENOUGH TABLES to accommodate your party size group of 9 +1 AND if they do make sure you are 5'4 and weigh 130 lbs to feel like you have enough space to eat your meal. So, yes we dont plan to come back anytime and seek out other Mexican restaurants that have enough tables and not a far drive from our home. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
