THE ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. Not only did the resume that Fred made me look worse than the work of a 12 yr old he was extremely rude and unprofessional when I asked him ONE question about the format of the resume. He charged me over $300 for a poorly written resume and cover letter TEMPLATE, no specific details to me because he didn't ask me a single question about my professional career, just charged me and went on his way to edit a previous resume and replace the last person's name with mine.
I should've known he was an angry, unprofessional man when I told him I wanted to cancel my meeting with him because I found another company to help me for a little less and he sent me 5 emails back-to-back in ALL CAPS like a child throwing a temper tantrum. I've never experienced such terrible customer service in my life. Overcharges and WAY underperforms!

Read and absorb all the negative reviews about this guy. It is clear he has posted (or paid to have posted) many, many 5 star reviews usually timed to offset a negative one. Then go find someone reliable through your school or friends.

BEWARE!!!! Resumes Etc, Professional Resume Writing Services, Owner Alfred (Fred) Mariani.

I reached out for a consultation to have a resume done. I emailed my resumes to him and we set a phone appt for later in the day @3p. Instead he called at 1:47p stating another client changed appts.

Mr. Mariani sounded knowledgeable and recommended 1 resume ($199) and 3 cover letters ($99 each). He offered $100 off if I paid in full right now. Or 1/2 now, 1/2 later. I told him I felt more comfortable doing 1/2, I wanted to see a rough draft first.

I was feeling a little rushed in the decision, especially being he called over an hour earlier then scheduled. I requested some time to think about it and call him back a little bit later. He then became annoyed telling me "we're the busiest resume company on the east coast, I don't have time for think about its." That I could call other places and not to bother calling him back. I explained, of course I was shopping around. I liked his ideas but felt I needed some time to think and not make an on the spot decision to drop $250+. He told me call somewhere else and hung up the phone on me. Our ENTIRE phone conversation was 8mins long!

I posted a negative review on google about the experience... No less then 20mins later Mr. Mariani called me from a different number demanding I remove the google review. Stating I had "one hour and not a minute more" to remove the review and provide him with proof it was removed or else he was going to sue me for slander. I didn't say a word and hung up on him. He then began sending me several emails and texts messages threatening "aggressive" legal action against me as well as threatening to post reviews to my employers.

I'm beyond appalled at the EXTREME unprofessional behavior of this "business". I'm now also fearful that this man has all my personal information (address, employers etc).

Do not use this person! Fred is a snake ready to strike over the smallest thing that displeases him.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to use a writer or which direction I'd want to go career wise. When I tried to convey this to him he basically told me to **** off and use someone else. He has zero customer service skills he's brash and arrogant. Instead of asking what you want as a customer he wants to tell YOU what you want and he feels as though he can not be wrong.

Waste of time waste of a person. Save yourself the time.

Let me start by stating that this is not a review of any services rendered by Resume Etc., as I have chosen not to do business with them. Instead this is a review based on my interaction with Alfred who in my opinion, was ill mannered, condescending in tone, and unprofessional to me. I called and spoke to Alfred and inquired about their resume writing services. He gave me a price quote of $199 for a resume/cover letter and offered to call me back so he could ask me questions about myself/career experience, etc.. I agreed to the call back.

Later, when I spoke to Alfred again, I informed him that I am still shopping around and I have not made my decision yet. At this point Alfred rudely cut me off and started to talk down to me in a very unprofessional and dismissive manner. He said, "if you'r price shopping then we're not the place for you". He then proceeded, in a very condescending manner, to tell me that I should just go for a $69 resume and call it a day. I immediately let him know that I did not appreciate his his ill mannered approach and terminated the call by wishing him a good day. Unbelievable!

In this day and age with so many unscrupulous companies and price gouging, people like myself have learned to do our research, educate ourselves and get the best bang for our hard earned money before making a decision. No one should have to deal with the level of rudeness that I received from Alfred.

I originally wrote the above review on Google, a few days ago. After posting the review, the owner (Alfred) replied by going on a rant about how they've been in the resume business for so many years and how they have the most 5 star reviews, blah, blah, blah. Then he writes that my review is slanderous because their price point did not align with my budget and asked that I remove my review lol. At no point did he offer any apology for his behavior or even own up to it. Again, I can't comment on the quality of their work but I can definitely state that based on my opinion, I was not treated in a professional manner.

      Caveat emptor!

I wish that I had read Yelp reviews on Resume's etc. prior to shelling out $400.

I could not agree more with the reviews of this company! I did not encounter the unprofessionalism right away either, in fact, our initial phone call was very pleasant...it was only after I provided my initial (and continued) feedback to Fred where he became condescending, belligerent and downright arrogant. He showed his true colors by sending me unprofessional responses and even forwarded me emails from "satisfied" clients.

Most of the content was from my original resume and he tweaked it here and there. Each and every time I reviewed it, I found more typos, spelling errors and formatting issues and it became increasingly unacceptable. It was not something you would expect from a professional resume service, which is what I communicated to him and he clearly was not happy with the feedback. Who is the customer here? The format alone looked old school and was not modern and had no reference to my LinkedIn hyperlink which is key in this day and age. When I questioned the formatting and font, I received more condescending remarks. In one of his emails he put not once, but TWICE "Thanks, Resumes Etc. Staff" in answers to questions that I asked. If that doesn't scream unprofessional, I don't know what does.

Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT use this service. Do not be fooled by his "impressive" website, anyone can create a website that looks great.

As other reviewers, I wish I had looked at Yelp before calling this business. Fred was a friendly and charming salesperson by phone until he made the sale. That all changed immediately. His work did not reflect any of the items we had discussed by phone nor was it the work of an experienced resume writer. He charged $99 per cover letter and I paid for two. They were nearly identical, short, and generic. He also spelled my name wrong.

Initially, I was going to move forward providing notes as requested and expressing my disappointment in the cover letters. After the first curt and defensive response, I knew I had made a mistake. I offered to accept a fee for the initial work and requested a refund for the remaining cost. He insisted on providing edits despite my request to halt work twice.

The edits were not remotely impressive and didn't cover all of the revisions I initially requested. He added one line to each cover letter. Again, I offered to accept a nominal fee and asked for a refund for the remaining cost. He became defensive and belligerent. He did offer to speak by phone and go line by line using my words and phrases, however, I had no interest in working with someone who could not competently and decently respond to feedback. Besides, I was paying for what I thought was his expertise. If I have to use my own words, then I may as well do the work myself. He responded by threatening lawsuits and to begin a campaign in defamation against me if I disputed the charge or wrote a negative review.

This is not the behavior of a professional. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company, a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and am pursuing further legal avenues to protect myself. As another reviewer stated, it is unfortunate and concerning that this man has access to such personal information with an initial transaction.

I wouldn't even give them one star. It was a horrible experience. Typo's, wrong content, terrible writing. I sent over 13 pages of suggestions trying to help them write what they should have from the beginning but none of that was used. It took two weeks to get on the phone to discuss and it could not be resolved.

I tried getting my money back through my credit card company and the owner started sending nasty emails in response. Here are just a sample from Fred Mariani (the owner) to me.

"When we are done with you, you will never be able to land another job.You are guilty of a federal crime and you are too ignorant to even realize it."

"As per our conversation, any additional legal activities on your part, and your previous employers will be contacted with all information regarding your fraudulent activities, which should impact any references they would provide for future employment."

There is another where he says that he is contacting the Dept. of Justice filing a complaint against me (the customer) and I that could go to jail for 3 years.

I finally told him that if he kept threatening me like this I was going to go to the cops. You can see the full email on BBB.

You decide if this is the type of person you would like to work with.

I wanted to give Resumes, etc. a more favorable score, but sadly, I cannot. I began by working with Fred, which was okay. I didn't really encounter the unprofessionalism initially. Overall, I was satisfied with my revised resume because it was already in a pretty good format, only needing editing, really. I could have edited it myself but wanted an expert who was more up to date with online platforms. I did have to edit due to typos, etc. but it wasn't onerous and then a staffer took over for follow-up. Two other staffers I dealt with were unprofessional and not very helpful. I also questioned whether my resume was really meeting all the standards for online platforms and Fred was gruff ensuring me he used all the buzz words. He had to assure me because another staffer was so rude, I told her I wouldn't deal with her anymore.

I also paid for the service they provide assisting you with applying for jobs. Eventually, I didn't think the service was worth it and the person I dealt with was unskilled and ultimately, unproductive. They didn't do anything more than I could have done for myself, although I didn't complain, I just took note.

But what's worse is that Resumes Etc doesn't bother to follow-up to ask if you're satisfied or how they might be of further assistance. This one, seemingly small, gesture could go a long way to demonstrate ability to receive constructive feedback and also show that they care for those who've paid for this expensive service. Given that I was paying them to help in my job search, they were too stupid to keep my business as you pay for the job search month to month or however long you want it. I would not recommend Resumes, etc.
