About the Business
But as a place for friends and community to gather in an informal setting, pubs have become less well known. Rare Olde Times is distinctly a Public House. You can find casual and regular acquaintances, friendly staff, a homely setting, and the personal touch that family ownership brings.

Happy to report they have a full bar and make excellent Old Fashioneds! The staff there are absolutely WONDERFUL-even as busy as they get (this place gets packed)! Everyone around us looked super happy! Fantastic experience for a Friday night!

Trivia night... Wednesday! Placed was packed but totally fun! It's always a good time at Rare Olde Times! Such a rustic, cozy feel! We got the scotch eggs (again!), bacon ranch fries, fish & chips, and pretzels/Irish cheddar beer cheese! Yum! This place was rockin and rollin! We had a blast!! And of course Tom got a Guinness!!

I love this Irish pub! This last time we came, the place was getting packed with Jacks and Sheilas because there was live music. Many of the tables were reserved, but they promptly sat us at a table near the bar and where would could see the stage!
While we waited for the entertainment, we ordered the prerequisite Guinness stouts and some tantalizing entrées from the menu: the fish and chips were delish-flaky fish in a light batter with crispy fries and a side of Cole slaw; the Raven sandwich-a hearty turkey and cranberry masterpiece; and my favorite dish, the Scotch eggs-hard cooked eggs coated with a savory, lightly spicy sausage and served with red onion and an aioli sauce. This appetizer will rock your world!
The service was excellent, the music was jaunty and amusing (the whole bar sang along!), the authentic décor really put you in a festive mood! I loved the bodhráns on the wall. My hubby has one at home!
(They have a collection of Bailey's Irish cream cups at the bar, I have a "collectors edition" signed one that I gave to the owner because he totally amazed me with his great service... see side note below!)
And you won't have to spend much "spondoolicks" as the prices are right on the target! Speaking of targets, there's a game area with dart boards if you're up for some shenanigans.
May the road rise up to meet you at this ultimate Irish pub!
Side note: A few days after this review, I called to place a to go order of Scotch eggs for my mom who is homebound. She used to make these for us as kids and I knew she'd love them. When I called, they weren't opened yet, but the owner honored my request and made my order which included a side salad, Cole slaw and some cheese scones! I was blown away, RARE service indeed! I had to bestow my special Bailey's cup to them, with a thank you note, and I'm glad my smiling cup found the perfect home! SLÁINTE!! - Apr 24, 2022
I have only been to this location twice but I love it! I hope to be a regular visitor.
They have great atmosphere and decor for an Irish pub. They have Irish beer on draft... a fantastic red!!!!
The food we had was very good and the service is good. The staff are super friendly!
They have live music several nights a week plus when there is no music they have several tvs with soccer or baseball on. I bet this place would be great to be at for a world cup soccer game!
The place is located in a strip mall area with plenty of parking.
Definitely get reservations if you are going on a night with a popular local band!
I am looking forward to going back already!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Er C.Tuckahoe, VA02Mar 6, 2024
Great local eat! I love the vibe in here, the staff is friendly, and the food in pretty good. There are music and trivia nights as well, for those folks who enjoy them.

Awesome Irish public house tucked in a West End strip mall.

This place is great! Fun atmosphere, and definitely has a authentic pub feel. They also have some bar games which are fun.
If you're looking at this for St. Patrick's Day, it will be crowded beyond belief in there. Almost any other night though it's a pretty chill, relaxing place to go have a beer.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ann C.Fairfax, VA0116Oct 12, 2023
Friendly pub with Irish leaning bar food. Low key. Has trivia and live music on designated nights.

Maaaaan.. those Scotch Eggs! Great food, beer and whiskey selection! Live music are often great choices. Only downfall, don't try to have a conversation on nights when there's live music. You have to yell at your dining companion. Not a deal breaker though, let's be real, sometimes we want to eat and tune our partner out
