When looking for coffe roasters in this area google maps suggests this place is like Vigilante. It is not anything like Vigilante or other coffee roasters of that type. This is the type of coffee shop where you get the same drink whether you order a flat white or a latte.

Very clean.
Super friendly and helpful staff!
I noticed a few different baked goods being rotated during the week. My friend and I thought the gluten free carrot cake was great (super fresh).
I also ordered a plain decaf coffee (love coffee, but it doesn't love me..) while we were waiting for the rest of our order. It had a very strong flavor (too strong). I personally needed a lot of whole milk/sugar.
However, my aunt and family did love a blended bag of beans in the Breville espresso machine: whole bean, mix of 1/2 Papua New Guinea and 1/2 Swiss Water decaf. (Half-caf lets us enjoy our coffee with less jitters/heart palpitations/anxiety)Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Ven S.Washington, DC9187330Oct 16, 2017
I visited for the first time yesterday. This establishment is conveniently located near the crossroads at Old Georgetown Road and Democracy Boulevard. It is relatively new I believe, and the interior is nicely decorated and indeed spacious.
I came to enjoy some coffee and spend time with my aunt and my cousin. They like this place a lot. The staff is professional and courteous. The restrooms are very clean which is an important feature.
The coffee I must say is nothing short of excellent. I got an iced breve latte for myself and the rest of us had various other coffee beverages.
They have tables outside to sit at, sockets for connecting computers and such inside. Once a customer makes a purchase he or she can receive a 2-hour Wifi code. The Wi-Fi does not cost anything but it comes with purchase only, and it lasts just 2 hours.
The coffee itself is not the cheap variety and I certainly understand that one pays a premium for excellent coffee, however the only inconvenience was the price of the pastries. A spinach and cheese croissant is $4.00 & something, but when I got it, I was disappointed in how small it was. In contrast, another bakery sells a similar croissant for $2.50 and twice the size.
The almond croissant was also over $4.00 and certainly not worth that price. Oh well.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Regine B.Baltimore, MD271102248Jul 10, 2017
I'm continuing my coffee house tour and I've stepped out of Baltimore. As a disclaimer, I'm. It a coffee fan but I do appreciate a well designed coffee house to telecommute. This location offers indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor seating has high tops with plenty of plugs and low top tables. Wifi is not secured. Unlike any coffee house I've been to before, they provide you with a 2 hour wifi password that prints like a receipt, upon request. I guess I can't blame them since some people (like me) can sit there all day doing work. Towards the end of my day I asked for a wifi password without purchasing something and the barista was fine with this. There's also an xfinity hotspot there.
I ordered an underwhelming matcha green tea smoothie. Unfortunately, I could barely taste the matcha. My chocolate croissant was delicious and the very friendly barista offered to heat it for me. Hey also sell fruit for a dollar here and offer 21 flavors that is advertised for use in their lattes but I used in a cold brew instead.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lauren C.Gaithersburg, MD93157293Jan 29, 2019
Come here just a basic refuel. It has pretty good coffee and a good location, but it pretty much stops there.
The customer service here is lacking. They seem wrapped up in taking to each other than to greet you and take your order. The most recent time I was in, I was asked if I was a member of theirs. I said no, but then said that I didn't know they had a program (implying i was interested?). The response: Yep. There wasn't anyone else in line. Is the program exclusive? Lol do I not get an invite? Rather than just asking more, I took my coffee and left. It was an odd encounter.
The seating situation isn't ideal. I would likely choose other places in the area if getting together with someone.
All in all, it's pretty good coffee. Just not a destination spot. Sometimes all you need is to refuel, so I'll be back (membership or not).Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jessie E.Knoxville, TN117654Mar 14, 2019
Quartermaine, this afternoon you scheduled a duo of equally apathetic teenagers interested in flirting with each other, noting how their "tips have gotten better recently", and sharing their ambitions of getting jobs where "people serve (them)" and they "can tell people to shut it!".
Work on your employees - they can't make a good cup of coffee, and certainly cannot be taken seriously when these unprofessional conversations can easily be heard.
P.S. There was a dead roach in plain sight. Good luck to your business.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mar 12, 2018
Cozy coffee shop nestled between another restaurant and several fast casual restaurants. Quartermaine was a great spot for getting a little work done or meeting with a small group. They have small and large tables depending on whether or not you are flying solo, high tops along the left hand side and comfortable leather chairs to the right. People were working diligently and others were also using this as an opportunity to catch up. The staff was friendly and service was quick. They offered soy and almond milk options and had a wide selection of tea and coffee drinks as well as a small bakery.

This place is fairly quiet during the noon time. It's not that bustling so it's a great place to study or work. However, I do want to point out some stuff:
First of all, this was my first time here so I wasn't sure. I'm an avid coffee drinker but for some reason I could not find ice Americano here, I was asking about the differences in coffees but the lady who works here didn't sound too fond of helping me. She did, provide the necessary information but wasn't that friendly about it.
Also, the wifi here is limited to a purchase and 2 hour time frame. So if you're that person who likes to be here for a long time, make sure you receive a wifi code during your purchase and validate it when you get to your computer.
Other than the factors of both unfriendly service and limited use of wifi, I really suggest you to try their coffee because the coffee is amazing :)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Theresa W.Rockville, MD01724Jun 19, 2017
This place has a hiring problem - they've been advertising that they're hiring people for weekend shifts for over two years. Either they're really disorganized in managing this branch, or the turnover rate for new hires is just a constant cycle. Either way, investing in some HR or recruiting resources would pay off. The young staff they do have are fine baristas, but act kinda unprofessional behind the counter. This afternoon I overheard two laughing about how one of the milk canisters had gone bad, pointing out the clumps. This is a health code violation, and doesn't bode well for the GI tracts of Quartermaine's customers!

I'm not a coffee drinker, so I'm probably not to best judge of beans. If anything, if I joined a church of coffee, I'd probably be asked to leave within minutes as I'm unloading a pack of sweetener in my cup. So really this review is just me talking about my beverage from a non-coffee drinkers perspective.
I rolled in here as my friend and I were waiting for seats at Not Your Average Joe's next door. I bought a strawberry mocha latte because I wanted something cold. Do I particularly like strawberries or chocolate? Not really, but it tasted as advertised.
Prices seem on par with any other coffee shop. Although the lighting seems a bit dreary which works for some people.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
