Things to know about my Progressive Insurance experience - the company NOT any specific local branch: My car was totaled in Maryland by a man who had Progressive. So Progressive paid me a check for the total value of the car. Progressive does not use NADA, although my dealer said they set their selling price based on NADA. They use JD Powers valuation, which I guess no one else has access to. A deliberate attempt to be obtuse and hide. They did not search by VIN number and missed that I had blind-spot detection option. After I pointed it out they added $360. I had brand new tires by Michelin which was bought 6 days earlier for $670. They gave me $40 extra for tires that had 500 miles. One supervisor said that cars.com and NADA will count as supporting evidence if I disputed. Another said "NO WAY". She said cars.com does not have all cars. I had to go to a dozen dealers and get estimates. Basically, they screw you to undervalue your car by a few thousand dollars.
