Joseph Deering (JD) of Pro Edge Painting is unprofessional in dealing with potential customers. I called for an estimate for the batten board, an accent wall, and a stairway. I had my walls painted about a month ago, but I wanted to gather some more quotes for the project. His quote was far higher than what I paid to get two whole floors of my townhouse painted by another reputable company. I also want to note the following points:
1. His prices/quotes are obscenely high - he quoted me $3,448 for a stairway, accent wall, and half a living room wall.
2. He is very unprofessional, and we got into a back-and-forth argument because I wanted a comprehensive breakdown of prices.
3. He refused to provide a breakdown of materials, parts, and labor costs, which I repeatedly requested.
4. He sent me an email quote. For the prices he charges, company stationery would look more presentable and professional.
I would not recommend this company because JD is unprofessional and lacks customer service skills.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - E. J.VA, VA05Apr 19, 2023
HORRIBLE!!!
The owner and his dad are a couple of loud mouth jerks.
"We use $80/roll for dry wall tape, and all of employees speak English" Whatever dude. Your stupid tape fell off the walls after 2 weeks and I really don't care what language they speak.
The work was terrible. We had to re-do much of it on our own.
RUN AWAY NOW!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Let me start by saying I never actually got any work done since I couldn't get a timely estimate.
Reached out to Pro Edge painting and scheduled an estimate. Everything was great up until thr Morning of the estimate. I was contacted that the estimate needed to be rescheduled as the estimator was pending a COVID test. I appreciated the estimator being forthcoming and not expose my family. This was the right call. We left it with rescheduling at a later date. Reached out a couple times after that to just get on the schedule but was told he wasn't scheduling until he got better. Again, also the right call. I asked to please let me know when I can get added to the schedule. No updates for a month.
Resched out a month later and was told they could get me an estimate a week later. I asked for a Saturday as previously scheduled as I work during the week. Nothing available for 4/5 weeks. I asked for early morning or later in the evening and was told they only do estimates were from 9am to 130 pm. Ok. Well at this point its clear they are very busy and don't need the business.
I'm just surprised after me chasing this for more 4 weeks I couldn't get an estimate. If there isn't any flexibility in just scheduling or rather rescheduling a previous appointment then I'm not sure how the actual work would be. Maybe the company needs more than one estimate. Flexibility for individuals who work M - F with a normal work schedule would go a long way.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Wait….this review because your schedule wouldn’t work with ours? We never stopped communicating with you. Truly sorry COVID did what it did with delays and our availability, but we couldn’t get anything to work. In our text conversation you became a little irritated anf said “you don’t want my business”…. Not the case. We wish you luck with your project and hope you don’t go leave a review on anyone else’s page you didn’t even work with

*update a piece of drywall tape that was fixed was not done properly and now 60 days later Is peeling off our ceiling (photo attached). Also there are paint drips, along the bottom of most of our walls where the paint was not done well (photo also attached).

Although there was consistent communication, the quality of work and care for our personal belongings was subpar at best.
We had our entire (newly purchased fixer-upper) townhome painted (2 bdrm, 2 full bath, 2 half bath, living room, kitchen, dining room, two stair wells and office).
After the first day of work, the crew was making a big deal about uncovering OUR BED, which is one of five pieces of furniture in our home after we moved cross country. We literally had no where else to sleep, not even a couch and all of our floors were covered in nails,
Plaster, plastic and paint... I'm not sure if they expected us to sleep on the kitchen counters? After they uncovered it the first day, it was clear they never covered it again. With foot and knee paint patterns on our sheets and bedding every day when we got home from work.
Part way through the job our stairs were uncovered by the painters getting paint and dirt and grime from shoes on our brand new carpet (which they were told multiple times were new). Paint was on our blinds, our mirrors, our counters and our brand new hardwood.
I complained to the person that oversees the crew and they did come remove a HUGE blob of dark gray paint from the office carpet that the crew left without saying anything. And they fixed a few of the larger issues, but most of our lines in our rooms are not clean (with wall paint on white ceiling) there are lots of areas that the dry wall tape was not repaired (even though we were told it would be) and overall the quality of work was not what we expected.
In addition to a poor job, the company left like 10 cans of ceiling paint and no leftover paint for our office, kitchen or living room colors, so their poor job cannot even be touched up without us purchasing paint.
The estimator who came to our house sold the company and their work very well and lead us to believe they would do a better job than another company that offered the same price.
After the work was completed, I would highly recommend going with someone else. - Lisa R.Clarkesville, GA147Jul 24, 2019
ProEdge is quick to respond and to provide quotes for painting, etc. but not so good with follow-up when things go wrong. Hired them to re-stain our front porch and was told that BM Arborcoat was the way to go. Not so.
Our front porch was re-stained by ProEdge using Arborcoat instead of Olympic, our usual, and am deeply disappointed. Does not perform as well as Olympic, which typically repels water, whereas Arborcoat leaves behind watermarks from rain. Also, cut-in marks are evident, which I was told with Arborcoat that would not happen.
Called Benjamin Moore and discussed the situation with them. Was told by the BM rep that the painters should have never re-stained until they removed the previous stain and started with a stain-free surface. (Not practical nor cost-efficient for most consumers!) Was never told this by ProEdge reps and was not told that the stain would be a matte finish. Speaking as someone who worked with SW Corp for years in paints and stains, matte finishes are not recommended for high-traffic floor areas including porches.
Have hired another local painter to remedy the situation. Save yourself time, money and frustration and find another painter who will not push Arborcoat on their clients. Check out the online reviews for Arborcoat stain and Olympic semi-transparent stain. You will find that Olympic semi-transparent stain outperforms Arborcoat.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Janine B.Manassas, VA024Aug 20, 2019
I hired Pro Edge to paint multiple areas in my home. I would not recommend this company to anyone who is looking for honest, professional service. They hired subcontractors to perform the work and did not complete the job. Two return efforts did not address the problems. Surface cracks and rough spots were not corrected as promised in the contract and several areas did not receive a coat of paint. Pictures of some of the problems are included with this review. The differences in color, streak, and sheen is not caused by the camera. This is the result of the poor job Pro Edge delivered.

We hired Pro Edge to paint the entire interior of our house. They provided an in depth color consultation and JR was responsive during every step. The painters were professional and courteous. We did a walkthrough every day to point out issues and then a final inspection with the company owner. Our house looks fresh and new now!

Pro Edge Painting did an excellent job repainting most of the interior of our home -- a project that took five days. JR and his dad checked in each day, and their large crew worked quickly, professionally, and were very responsive to our requests during the project. I was particularly impressed at how meticulously JR's team prepped the walls and ceiling to make sure any imperfections were repaired, including re-taping drywall seams where necessary. Keen attention to detail and clean-up when done. Pro Edge wasn't the cheapest, but the price was competitive. We plan to use them again on our exterior!

Do yourself a favor and don't even call for an estimate. They are the most unprofessional company I have dealt with and they can not be trusted or relied upon.

We had a great experience from start to finish. We hired Pro Edge Painting to repair our drywall and repaint 6 rooms in our new home after our builder had less than subpar drywall contractors (they did not know how to properly fan out seams, nor properly cover drywall tape). Pro Edge Painting always has an English speaking crew leader on site, making communication hassle free. They were true professionals. Showed up on time and completed the work a day sooner than anticipated. They cleaned up after themselves, making it look like they were never there in the first place. Pricing was also very reasonable. They did such great work we hired them again to stain our deck and we will not hesitate to hire them again when needed.
