Serving authentic Hawaii food with a modern twist. Our food has its roots in the plantation era days and as such is an amalgam of all the immigrant cultures that came to work the sugar plantations-Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Portuguese, Hawaiian and American. We’ve taken these roots and put our own modern spin on it to create dishes such as Kalua Pig Nachos and our famous Garlic Chicken plate lunch. Mixing authentic with modern, we’re dishing out the aloha, one plate lunch at a time.

Delectable!
I had the shoyu chicken and wish I knew the best words to use to encourage everyone to try this plate. This chicken is really great, very tender with a hint of sweetness. Brown rice and macaroni salad accompanied the chicken, which was served in a bed of tasty cabbage. I will get the green salad next time since I'm not a huge fan of Mac salad (had to try it once though) but gonna have to go for the shoyu chicken again because when I find something that I find absolutely delightful, it's difficult to not order it.
(In Arcata, you can now find the Pineapple Express truck on Fridays in a parking lot on F Street, back behind the Cal Poly store on the Plaza.)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Clancy D.McKinleyville, CA42186May 3, 2024
Great food. Reminds me of being in Maui. Nice people on the truck too. So excited about their new brick and mortar shop.

The truck is now up north in mactown on wednesdays and its definitely worth a stop. Quick friendly service, the menu is to the point, lunch plates and sandos with some cool apps with a daily special board.
Solid flavors and a cool menu as well as daily specials. I went with a special of that day the pulled pork mango tacos and they were very good, full flavored and just enough spicy, served with fried chips and a mango chutney/salsa.
Pulled pork mango tacos off the board, delicious three fat tacos with white corn shells stuffed full with tender pulled pork with jalepenos, bbq sauce, a little shredded lettuce and mango chutney. Three is a lot, and you could easily share this with someone. I ate two and saved the third for the next day, and it was still tasty as leftovers.
This food truck has just started coming to north humboldt, if you see them well worth a stop and try. I plan to stop the next time I see them as well.
4 Stars a solid food truck with good food

Holy god among gods. This place is insane. Listen, unfortunately my partner and I have low expectations because you never know what you're gonna get in NorCal. But the flavors?! The portions?!? O. M. G.
We ordered the specials of the day and we both were making sounds eating our entire meals like, "oh my god wtf is this soo good?" "Are you kidding me?" "Mmm"!
The chicken!? I don't know what they do to it. But it's possibly the best fried chicken I've ever had.
Ordered the dynamite chicken with furikake fries (a must). And the SGC Sambrulee
So excited to work our way through this menu.

Don't go here if you are in a hurry. Super slow! Waited over 50 minutes for our food. I wouldn't go back just because of that. I wish they would have warned us. We would have left.

The food is amazing and something you don't get anywhere else. It's hard for me to make a decision when I get to the window. This food truck moved up north to where there are actually people. Down in southern Humboldt we just don't have the population.

Who knew there was such a great Hawaiian experience on the Avenue of the Giants?! I surprised my hubby, who only knew we were going to a food truck, which he was excited about. Imagine his happy reaction when he saw the menu! We both got Spam musubi and shared Kalua pork nachos and the shoyu chicken plate with mac salad. I also got a POG (papaya, orange, guava) to really round out my island reminiscing.
The meats were all cooked and seasoned PERFECTLY. The mac salad had a little too much mayo (the noodles were limp and almost falling apart in my chopsticks) and not quite enough seasoning. The musubi could have also used a little furikake and thicker Spam slice, but it was delicious and a little sweet.
Truly a perfect meal before an epic trek to Needle Rock and Bear Harbor! Note, this place is grab-and-go, so expect to eat in your car (you can also place orders by phone). Gas station next door has lots of drink options if needed.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Preethi N.CA, CA308044Aug 18, 2023
Yum yum yum! I noticed the truck parked outside or heart of Humboldt dispensary! The ambiance was moderately crowded with hungry patrons.
I had a delicious garlic chicken plate (spicy) with a side of Mac salad, and 2 sides of rice. The chicken was on a delicious and flavorful bed of cabbage slaw. They nailed the garlic chicken, it was crispy, hot, crunchy, sweet, and saucy. I was in umami heaven to say the least. The rice was the mild side that I think paired well with the sauce of the chicken which was more like a gravy for the rice. I also loved the mouthwatering mac salad--the creamy sweetness complimented the spicy chicken. Mixing and matching the sides and chicken was the best part!
I really was grateful for the portion of my plate because I had plenty of left overs for dinner! The service was great and quick during the late lunch rush.
Thank you Pineapple Express I will be back!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ny L.Crescent City, CA384144Oct 7, 2023
$14 dollar taco. Sure it's big but boy this had hardly any meat filled with mostly coleslaw and corn. Last year the food was amazing at the taco fest. Sorry but they definitely made a bad choice to change the menu this year lol.
